Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!
This week's challenge hostess is: Jennifrann/Jen
CHALLENGE:
This week's recipient is a talker. Let's see how many words you can fit on your card.
CARD TYPE/THEME: thinking of you, encouragement, hello, hugs
I'm requesting this Tea Party for my cousin, Claire. She's my mom's first cousin, so I guess that makes her my first cousin once removed. Claire was diagnosed about a year and a half ago with an extremely rare Neuroendocrine cancer that cannot be cured. She was told she had about a year left, and has been living life to the fullest ever since. Chemo and radiation have helped her stay out of pain and kept her tumors down, so she can spend time with her husband Ed, their three daughters and 8 grandchildren. I send her a few cards each month, and I've been saving you ladies for when she really needs it. During this current round of chemo, her pain is back and she's having a tough time. I send her a few cards each month, but I think it's time to call in the Teapotters to do what you do so well. I can't even begin to describe to you how thrilled Claire will be to receive your beautiful cards. The ribbon color for her type of cancer is zebra striped. She is an avid bowler (duckpin and candlepin) and a photographer, and most of all, she loves people. She is still the last person to leave any party, because she can't stop chatting with everyone. She is just a joy to be around.
EXTRA COOKIES: Put confetti in your card when you mail it. Claire is well known in the family for putting confetti in the cards she gives us. Punch out a few hearts or some kind of shape to put in the card and she'll get a kick out of it!

Do you know someone that could use some well wishes, encouragement or all around warm fuzzies? Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Send your request to Jennifrann via PM or e-mail [email protected]. Include SCS Teaparty Request in the subject line.
here is my card - I did put confetti inside.. A friend of mine used to always put confetti in her cards, and it was a mess to clean, and not good for small children, pets nor the sweeper. I finally learned to open her cards outside to eliminate the mess. Another friend got up the nerve to ask her not to do that due to the mess, and she finally quit. But, I did put it in since it was stated Claire likes it.
God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us ... being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Romans 5:8 & 9
A bit late to the teaparty! I went with a camera theme for my card for Claire: Oh Snap!

My heart goes out to Claire and her family ... cancer is such an ugly monster. Thank you for the privilege of sending some happy mail.
Did not have anything with bowling or photography so went with the stripe ribbon idea and this glass jar full of words. The jar would not cooperate very well, however, finally came up with this and hope it will be encouraging to Claire.

Dear Teapotter friends, I attended Claire's funeral yesterday. It was a day full of so much love and tears and laughter. Claire lived her life to the fullest and connected with so many people along the way. She kept on living to the end with family dinners and birthday parties, but her body failed her last Friday night and she passed surrounded by her husband and three daughters.
I wanted to share the message that she sent me after her Tea Party: I am amazed at all the wonderful handmade cards I have received from all your friends. I now know what a ton of confetti looks like! Your friends are all special people. Please relay my gratitude to all who took the time to think of me. I even got one from Ireland. Some are of bowling, cameras, and today came a card with zebras. And I can't forget you and all your efforts to brighten my days. This chemo has been brutal but I am still here. 2 years and counting but many have gone in less than a year. I feel really blessed. Love you!
Eddie, Angie, Jenny, and Missy all kept telling me yesterday and the day before how much all of our cards meant to all of them. Their message to all of you Teapotters is to keep doing what you're doing because it truly makes a difference.
She was able to meet her ninth grandchild this month.
And because Claire loved photos so much, my cousin took a photo of everyone in the room yesterday. It filled up and they had to set up tables in the next room. Evidence of a life well-lived.
Love and hugs to you all! Thank you for being you :-)
Jen, thank you for the sad update. We are all so glad our cards made her feel so good. So glad she met her new grand baby. The family has all the memories made thru the years with family and friends so they will not forget her.Her family will be in my prayers tonight. Hugs & Love, DonnaJeanne
Jen, thank you for letting us know how much Claire appreciated the cards we sent to her. What a precious picture with her 9th grand baby! She obviously was very loved! Prayers for her family and friends.

Jen,
Thank you for this lovely tribute to Claire and condolences to you and your family. You can see her light so clearly in that beautiful pic with her 9th grand. While I'm sorry she has left you, I am so happy that she got to share that moment with her newest family member. And, I chuckled when I read the reference to confetti because I wasn't too sure about that part of your challenge. But, gratefully, you were. The message from her and her family is so appreciated. I know our cards help, but when I hear directly from the recipients, it really motivates me to participate each and every week. Big Hugs and Prayers for the family.
Debbie
