MMTPT694 - November 9,2021 - Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT694
Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!
This week's challenge hostess is: snietje/Anita
CHALLENGE:
Our recipient will need a lot of patience and he'll be out of his comfort zone, so imagine you were in the same situation and you couldn't go into your crafting/stamping room how would you feel??
My challenge is to get out of our comfort zone, if you aren't a painter, use paint, if you aren't a fussy cutter, use scissors to cut your image, if you aren't a paper folder, try a fun fold, I'm sure you'll find something, and John has hobbies to find inspiration, racing cars, mountains, camping.
CARD TYPE/THEME: Thinking of You, Feel Better, Sunshine, Warm Fuzzies
MaryJo aka SCS Icela52 nominated her son, John, as this week’s guest of honor. John was in the process of clearing some of the brush on his property when he tripped over a buried log and broke his ankle in 2 places. Over the next 12 weeks John will be in 4 different casts until his leg heals and then he faces physical therapy. John lives in a split level house and not allowed up and down the stairs, so he is confined to the kitchen, living room and back porch. He could use some cheering up. John's favorite hobbies are NASCAR auto racing, puttering around in his garage on his motorcycle and his classic car. He also loves camping and the mountains and his favorite color is blue.

Consider nominating them as a guest of honor (a.k.a. destination station) for an upcoming tea party. Send your request to jacqueline via PM or e-mail[email protected].Include SCS Teaparty Request in the subject line.
Thank you for allowing John to be a recipeint of what SCS exudes Love and caring. John is so unaware of anyone sending him a card. I asked him to let me know what kind of mail he gets in the next week or 2. He asked what was I sending him..LOL I said you will see.
My son is not one to sit around, he will for the next 12 weeks if he wants use of his ankle again. He says his 3 dogs sit and watch him sleep all day. I thought that was too funny, because one of them is as big as a small horse Jaz who is a great Pyrenese. She loves me to death when I'm there. The minute his wife gets home the dogs want out.
I just spoke to John, he had his stitches taken out today and cast 2 put on. He cannot put any pressure on that foot for another month. He is confined to the living room, kitchen and porch for a month. He commented how he hates sitting around and not able to do anything. At least he is in good spirits.
Sorry Anita, I stayed well inside my comfort zone for the card; although I would love to be out of my physical comfort zone and amongst the pines myself. {{Sigh}} Here's my card for John.
God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us ... being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Romans 5:8 & 9
I spoke to John today and asked how he was doing. his reply:" The awesome life of laying on the couch. Doesn't get any better." I really feel for him.
I spoke to his wife Patty today and told her what was going on and what to expect. She is keeping it a secret from John. She was able to look at some of the cards and was amazed at what she saw. She has to be careful John doesn't catch her. She thought it was so cool that you were doing this for John.
I told Patty I knew some amazing people in the world.
You have all filled my heart, beyond belief.
Thank you all so very much.
I wanted to make a card for John but didn't go "out of my comfort zone" during the card making process. Since I'm recovering from bronchitis just getting UP and into the craft room took most of my energy . . .

Hi Everyone,
I just got off the phone with John, he said he received a card yesterday from Debbie, in CA.
Debbie John was in awe over your card with a Honda motorcycle and was amazed by the letter you wrote to him... He was speechless. When he saw the post mark he told Patty I don't know anyone in CA. thats when Patty says your mom does and explained everything to him.
He is very grateful and surprised.
Of my 4 sons, John is the one with the softest heart. He is the one that has endured the worst events in his life and has come through it all better than before.

Hugs,
Well, I'm surprised it got there so quickly. It can take weeks just to get a delivery to my GD who's only 15 miles away. LOL. But, I am delighted that the card cheered him. I know he will be thrilled when the others start arriving. I think this groups rocks at sending gorgeous cards with lots of love and cheer.
I'm sorry that John has been through so much already; but, your writing indicates he has certainly gained strength and compassion. This should be a piece of cake for him...except the sitting still part -- that can be very hard for some. I hope his recovery will be swift.

Thank you Debbie, You are right Debbie, this group does rock in every aspect. I told John of all the groups I have belonged to, this is the only one I have remained on because how awesome everyone is and that we encompass the whole world. This group is my happy place.
Hugs,
I'm glad to read John started to get cards, I hope mine will not too long, sometimes they arrive really quickly and sometimes it takes ages!!, I'm glad he appreciate his card "shower" , thank you all for sending cards each week!!

Hi Anita,
You will be happy to know your card to John arrived yesterday. He was in awe over how you embedded the motor cycle in the mountains. He really loved it.
I talked to John today, They did not get the mail yesterday since Patty worked 14 hrs. and was too tired to pick up the mail. He said they will get it today. The 2 cards he received so far he has enjoyed and looking forward to see what else he gets. LOL
I know the cards have cheered him up because I hear the smile in his voice. He said he can't wait to sleep in his bed again, right now he has to sleep in his recliner sofa.
I am still working on my card out of my comfort zone, I've done it 3x so far and it is still wrong....LOL
That means you're really out of your comfort zone, I'm curious what you're working on!!
Sleeping on the sofa must be really uncomfortable for John, I'm glad our cards cheer him up, sure there will be more today!!

I'm sure of it too Anita, I can hardly stand it....LOL I cannot imagine sleeping in a recliner for a week ever mind 3 weeks. Obviously this card I'm working on is easy for everyone else, for me not so good. I am not good on cutting angles they never come out right....LOL
Mary Jo - I am really enjoying the regular updates from you!
Thank you Linda, I try to talk to John everyday. He calls mbv e when he gets cards, I'm sure there is a lot in his mail box by today. He sleeps a lot from boredom....and can't wait for his wife to get home. I live 3 hrs from him, so I can't make him lunch or visit him..
Hi Everyone,
John says hello, he received a bunch of cards in the mail today. He has not opened them yet because his wife just got home and they are spending time with each other before she goes to bed. She has to be to work at 6 am in the morning. He says after dinner the both of them will open the cards and read them together.
I gave to report to John tomorrow after my drs. Appointment.
I am still working on my card for him, hopefully it will be done tonight.
I finally finished John's card. I kept cutting the dsp in the wrong direction. as you look at the photo again I came up short on the base mat. ..UGH I am not good at cutting angles or putting the paper in the correct direction....LOL Finally I ran out of paper and had to go with what I had.
I talked to John a few minutes ago. He received 9 cards yesterday all from the states. He is going to text me which cards arrived. He said he was most appreciative that y'all took the time to create some beautiful cards, he was in awe over the workmanship and the beautiful messages included. He said he was keeping his cards and never throwing them away. I can't wait to see them in person at Christmas time.
Y'all rock, love all of you and appreciate you all so much.
Hugs,
