MMTPT661 - March23, 2021 - Black and White with a Pop of Color
Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT661 Black and White with a Pop of Color
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!
This week's challenge hostess is: snietje/Anita

I thought it would be fun to make some black and white cards with a pop of color.
You can find some samples in the thumbnails or watch on Pinterest, you type, black and white with a pop of color pictures.
CARD TYPE/THEME: Cheerful, Thinking of You, Hello, Belated Birthday, Hugs, Encouragement – please, NO Get Well cards
This week’s teaparty request comes from SCS jkanack (Jean). Jean wrote that Delores (Dee) is a family friend that was the Amvet auxiliary with her Mom years ago. Delores turned 99 years young on March 9. She is a self taught artist and has had a tradition of painting her front picture window with a winter/Christmas theme since 1963. Her windows can be viewed on YouTube (search for Dee's Greeting to the Passerby). 2020 was the first year that she did not paint her window because her family was afraid she’d fall off the ladder. Dee's favorite color is green, she was a nurse, loves her church (United Church of Christ) and scriptures, loves music and can play the piano, likes nature, flowers, sunsets and rainbows. Loves her family of course. Has 5 grown children, she lives on her own in the house she and her husband built and is sharper than most any of us .
Carol, Dee's daughter, recently had her 65th birthday and had surgery for pancreatic cancer (Whipple, like CherylQuilts) at the end of January. This was the second surgery for it, her first was before Christmas to deal with the duodenal gland which connects to the stomach, which was followed by chemo/radiation. Carol will have more chemo/radiation but after her second surgery, no more cancer was found. She is an extremely healthy, active woman, married, children, retired teacher. Carol’s attitude is extremely positive, even though she was knocked over by the diagnosis. Carol-loves the WI Badgers and Green Bay Packers, loves to exercise and spend time with family, especially her granddaughters. She has a dog Rollie, a black Goldendoodle and her favorite color is blue.
Dee hasn’t been able to see Carol so let’s send some paper hugs and warm fuzzies to this mom-daughter duo. Who couldn’t use a little cheer these days? Jean wasn’t sure of any favorites but added Delores painted landscapes and would certainly love anything that comes her way. This is sort of a 'two-fer' - you may make one card or two – no demands, no pressure.

I want to thank everyone ahead of time for making cards for Dee and Carol. I've always 'known of' the Bruss family, Dee's husband was in Amvets with my Dad, but we have reconnected lately because of the WWII monument in Menomonee Falls. It was refurbished and we now have a service there every Memorial Day weekend, just like they used to. I just remembered a little detail about Dee's window paintings-she always puts in a little heart for each of her grandchildren, I think she has 12. It's a contest for the kids to find them. A little update on Carol-her recovery is going well, but she has asked to delay the chemo until she can get stronger. This has knocked her back quite a bit physically and she can't believe how weak she is. Good thing she was in such good shape before the diagnosis.

Thank you, Jean, for introducing us to Dee and her incredible artistic talent! I am amazed at the window art she created through the years. Anita, thank you for this lovely challenge .... I plan on making a card for Carol, as well.

Here is the card being mailed to Delores. MMTPT661 Drapery Fold Birthday by lovinpaper at Splitcoaststampers
Sorry no pop of color. I made the card in January and didn't want to risk adding color after all assembled. I have another card ready for Carol, but need to find it to upload or tag it.

Here are my cards for Delores and Carol. Sorry to be late but I've not been able to create much this week until today due to headaches and Drs orders to stay off screens *wink*.
