If you are new to the Muscical Challenge, here's how it works: Every Saturday I find someone that deserves to be honored or maybe needs their spirits lifted. I then choose a song that I feel portrays this person.
The challenge is for you to make a card inspired by the chosen song.
I will ask you to consider sending your inspired creation to the person chosen. However, if you would rather not; you do not have to. That is totally up to you.
This week's song was chosen for the husband of one of our very own SCSrs. Her name is Stephanie SCS name is StephStamps1982. Stephanie is collecting cards for her husband and his battalion. Her husband is active duty Army. Keep in mind these are cards for the soldiers to send home to their love ones. So please keep from writing on the inside. If you'd like to make an extra card to send to the guys that is fine. Here is what Stephanie sent me when I asked her to tell me a bit about them:
My name is Stephanie and I am the proud wife of an Army soldier, who is on Active Duty. He is currently about half way through his second deployment to Iraq - thank God! My husband has been a soldier for about 8 years, all the while he has always been away from home...
This is our first deployment together. We have been married about a year and a half. We have two beautiful daughters who miss their daddy terribly. He is an amazing daddy, husband and friend and there is nothing that makes me happier than the look on his face when he tells me that he got another card from me
We talk almost every day, either via Skype or Instant Messenger...and they can send cards whenever they want, because their mail is free! Technology makes staying in contact easier, with Skype (it's real time video calling) but all too often people forget the meaning of snail mail and how happy it can make someone...funny how the post man bringing snail mail can turn around your whole day! Technology also cannot replace being able to touch your soldier, hold him (or her) but having something tangible really makes the difference to make you feel closer to your loved one while they are deployed for anywhere from 6 months to a year and a half - the average deployment is currently 12 to 15 months! ALthough the Army is talking about 9 month deployments, I haven't met a soldier who has yet to have one less than 12 months.
We are friends with many of the soldiers serving with him...the excitement over having cards to send home has been amazing...so I want to keep up their morale by providing them with beautiful hand made cards to show their family and friends that they care.
I am honored to accept these cards on behalf my husband and his battalion...I know they will be put to good use and treasured for years to come by the recipients.
As far as rules go, there are none, other than please do not put sentiments inside the cards. Even Congratulations and patriotic cards are great...I'm sure the soldiers will give them to one another, for congratulations on promotions, birthdays, etc...as well as send them home! I love glitter, shiny and sparkle! So, heck no, I wouldn't say no to those things! Everyone should get creative and know that there are no limits!
And Ladies if you do not have any patriotic stamps please do not think you can not play this week. The guys need Valentine's card, Bday cards, Anniversary...etc...so please play along and let's support out troops!!!

Hi Dani, I am hoping to get some cards out to Stephanie this week...I do have a question though...I was told by the wife of a soldier that any kind of glitter that will flake off is discouraged because the night vision can pick it up if it happens to be on a uniform and can compromise their location....I'm wondering if that would be the same for the location that Stephanie's husband is at.....Also, just wanted to add a big "Thank You" to Stephanie, her dh and her family for the sacrafices they are making for all of us to be able to be free....♥♥♥

I have always been told no glitter as well. My husband having served 24 years in the Army and having been deployed from one end of the earth to the other, said the same thing. Will you verify that and let us know. Thanks.
Ladies! These cards are being sent over to soldiers who do not leave their base out there...the cards go there, the soldiers pick them out and send them home to their friends and families. So, glitter, blink and rhinestone away. These are not front line soldiers, I assure you. Thank you for your efforts! I can't wait to see what y'all create!

Thanks Stephanie for clearing this up....I love me my glitter and love to use it, just did not want to compromise our soldiers in any way shape or form...they are too special.....

Hello Dani, I'll being going through this past year's stash to see what I can come up with to send to Stephanie. Now to make a card for her to give to her hubby. I'll be back again to post that one.

Here is my card. I have two groups that I forward batches of cards to on a regular basis - hence I don't have anything built up right now. I just sent 40 cards out a few weeks ago - Thinking of You, Valentine's Day, Birthday, etc.
Well Hello ladies. Wow so many of you are sending more than the one card. Ya'll are so awesome!!! I'm sorry I haven't been on...grandchildren were here visiting. And of course....they come first. But this weekly challenge is also my baby so I have to make sure it gets equal attention. lol...really tho...thank you for continuing on without me. It's nice to see!!!! And I can see that the glitter question was answered by Steph herself. Thank you Steph. Yes, I too was told that about the no glitter but Steph reassured me that these will not go to the guys on the frontlines. I know she wouldn't put her hubby in any danger. So...glitter away. I look forward to finding out how many cards Steph ends up with. C'mon people lets get her LOTS!!!

I've been following along and couldn't understand whuy my card didn't show up when I searched on this thread. I went back and checked and my keywored was incorrect. I noticed another was wrong also. That might be part of our problem.

I've gotten three boxes of cards this last week!!!!!! They are all incredible...and yes...I have looked through each and every one...they are so wonderful!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your generosity ladies! It means so much! Got another box ready to go out the first day of January that the post office is open! I'm thrilled and it's a good thing too...according to my husband...the box I sent of mine, is just about gone! So glad I have the ability to replenish their cards thanks to all of you!!!!!!

Thank you Bonnie! And no rush at all, you take the time you need to feel better! I know what it's like to all of a sudden be hit with a health issue! Just last week my back went out...for no apparent reason at all...I'm thankful I have decent medical coverage because it's requiring XRays and an MRI :( But it gives me the excuse to stay home and stamp...isn't that what every stamper wishes for? Especially when they have projects coming out their ears? LOL

I am so glad to hear that the cards are coming in. As I said earlier, mine will be out after the first of the year. I just have so much going on at one time with the holidays and all. Unless you want me to send the one card from the challenge??? I figured I would just add it to the rest, however, if you'd rather I send it I most certainly will do that. Will be sending out a package of cards in tomorrows mail Stephanie. Have sent your address onto some of my friends so expect some cards from them too. I will send more when I can. I am having total knee replacement on the 18th so my scrapping room will be lonely until I can get downstairs. Thanks for doing this.
