Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes. Kathy, I often forget to look at my bd calendar. My sister-in-law sits down around the 20th of each month and writes all the cards for the next month. She makes photo catds. I could never be that organized or disciplined. I'm more lazy and more of a procrastinator. I check the bd calendar once a week ot so, and then still have to make the personalized card, and end up sending it the day of or several days after a bd.

Ina your card arrived today. It’s so beautiful. You know I’m a big fan of butterflies. Thank you for thinking of me.

I lost the thread again! Grumpy has been working out schedules for his friend to come to town, I told him not to fly! Seems people have been missing luggage for weeks, flights canceled and everything, yup insane! My hands are full of inflammation again. I have been looking for my meds for over a week. Grumpy has looked as well but haven't found them. I missed a birthday.. so sorry! I have my days mixed up and thought it was next week. Hot hazy humid. Sorry I am a mess still.
Lynn you take care of yourself. At our age we all forget things. Hope you find your meds. Hugs
Our neighbour has brought a huge bag of mail. It will take me a few days to open lol.

Lynn, I am sorry you are going through (another) rough time. Sorry your apartment is so hot too. My bedrooms are hot, but they have fans and in the evening it usually cools down, but not so last night. The coolest place to be, was outside under a tree, in my lounger, reading a book. My main floor and basement are o.k. Wash is on the line, but it looks like we may get rain.
I didn't think I would be able to participate in DTGD challenges, but I have done a few already and hope to do a few more.

I remember at the townhouse, I used to spend the day in the basement. My basement was under the level of the ground so it stayed cool. It would get damp though. Grumpy had BBQ duty all summer! Grumpy place does not get as hot as mine. He is half a floor above the ground plus the area outside has mature trees. Once the leaves are on the trees he has shade till fall. It is what it is. Before covid I would go indoor mall walking in the afternoon and use their AC! I will have to do research and start doing that again now that things are open. Grumpy is out delivering snail mail but he has figured out ways to stay OK.
So everyone stay OK out there!
Oh Ina what are the water levels like? I think it has been a month without significant rain
Ina, I've printed off the challenges. I'm hoping to try and catch up and double dip with some of the DTGD challenges or others. I won't put a timeframe on myself as things are busy here but I will do what I can.
Happy weekend everyone.

After tossing and turning because of the heat and the pain in my knee, I finally gave in at 2:30 and took a Tylenol extra strength. When I awoke at 6:45, the sun was shining, so decided to take the kayak out. By the time I dessed, uploaded a DTGD card and started my yogurt, it clouded over and looks like rain. So, no kayaking. Walking with an umbrella.

Popping on to say hi and waving to you all. Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. The sun is shining here..hip hip horray. I may even get my washing dry.

Weekend was good. I spent Saturday with three grandkids, Sunday, church as usual, brief visit with my sister-in-law, listening to my baseball team win another game, and reading a book. I really need to make a couple more cards, 2 birthdays, and 2 sympathy.
Oh, and we had a splendid rainfall this evening. Don't know quite how much, but there are large puddles on the street. We were in a drought situation, so, all the farmers and gardeners will be happy.

We got 1 1/2" of rain since last night and we were in desperate need too! Our power went out for 3 hours last night and then this morning it went out for 2 hours! All's good right now!
Kathy, I got your card in yesterday's mail. Thank you so much. It's beautiful. Did you use chalks with a stencil? A really funny story: My walking partner was with me when I opened it, she (not being a crafter herself) just could not understand why anyone would send a card that did not have a message in it. I explained it to her, but she still could not understand.
I'm sorry Sharon, I forgot to to let you know, I received your lovely card last week. I received Jan's card the day before my birthday. And Jayne's card arrived a long time before, May, I think.
Thanj you everyone. Your cards are greatly appreciated, and will be displayed, and enjoyed, until I start receiving Christmas cards.

Ina, I used a martha stewart stencil that is sticky on the back, which makes it very easy to apply inks. I didn't use chalks because I don't have any. I know exactly which card it is but I can't remember if I used a blender brush and inks, or maybe a sponge dauber.i made it quite a while ago. I'll look and see if I put it in my gallery. When I made it, I loved how it turned out and clung to it a while! Then I thought why hang on to it, let my friend enjoy it too!
I think I just don't have any f8ght left in me. I was adopted and abused. I married a man that was better than my parents but he was abusive and controlling. Took years for the divorce. 2003 my health took a hit and i couldn't work anymore. Over 2 and a half years fighting the govt, the insurance company and my employer. Almost lost everything. Was pre-diabetic for years and kept asking for help. Now i am diabetic and got 4 zoom calls! The insurance company bugs me every year cause they don't want to pay till i am 65. This year they sent all my personal information to a complete stranger. Yup just dont have any fight left.
That isn't the spunky, feisty Lynn I know. It's ok to be down a bit, but praying you don't stay there. You make us all giggle. It's time for some giggling of your own!
I walked into DH's trailer hitch on the back of his truck!. Ouch to my shin!! But on the bright side, we have a ton load of firewood for moms garage this winter.
Sorry you are down, Lynn. I know this is hard to do right now, but try not to focus on ALL the things that are painful and wrong in your life, but try to think about how to be good to yourself, to find joy in the little things that make life big. And know that there are people praying for you.
Kathy, ouch! Shins hurt a lot, when you bump them.
I am doing a happy dance. Fresh sweet corn is ready at the farm!. It is so good! I bought 1/2 a dozen. Two for the neighbours, 4 for me.

(((Lynn))). I’m so sorry that you are feeling low. I’m sad to read your story and can relate to some of it. Lynn, you got this. You are strong and find that small reserve of fight left in you. Don’t let the B’s grind you down. We are all here for you. Lots of hugs and love.
Kathy I’m constantly bumping into things. My middle name is calamity lol.
I so hope Lynn is ok. It’s times like these we all need to be closer so we can just pop in and check on friends. Big hugs

Lynn, BIG AIR HUGS! When you're down, it's hard to be positive and know that things will get better. Be patient with yourself and know we all are thinking of you.
Yes, Kathy, my shins have permanent scars...remember...I'm called "Gracie" for a good reason!
Yummy, fresh sweet corn, Ina!
Hi Jayne!

Is it August already? Wow, summer is flying by so fast. August is usually known as the 'dog days' of summer, but it seems like in many parts of the country (and of the world), we've been in the dog dats of summer in July too. Heat and drought, and all kinds of crazy weather. Well, let's not focus on the weather (unless you want to), but instead, feature dogs this month. Cards, projects, or whatever, featuring dogs. Have some creative fun!

I am still here. Manag3d to get pink eye but can't find any drops!
Grumpy is off with the boys. They have gone to the north part of Algonquin park. It is a large lake so the water is OK. No wild fires in the area so that is great. Grumpy and hunter are joined by two beginners. Last year the beginners brought raw chicken and capsize the canoe! It will be interesting! I am so glad he is able to go out and do stuff. It has been hard for him because it has been hard for me.
Oh yes it is the heat of summer and grumpy is looking for a wool sweater! I had made one for the 3x and had kept it around till a few years ago and NOW he wants one. Well i found one.. hunter orange of all things! It will be here this week and i will be able to do any modifications before labour day. They will be going north of beyond for possibly 2 weeks.

The rain is here and I haven't heard from the boys yet. I know they wake up, break camp and then have to paddle to return the canoe. I thought I would have heard fr9m him by now
Just catching up. Lynn, thinking of you and sending up prayers for you to feel better. I hope you have heard from Grumpy soon.
so, Dogs is our challenge? I can’t remember, what is the keyword, Ina? I have a dog punch that I got on clearance a while back and don’t know if I have used it or not. Good time to use it! LOL
so hot here, wish we could get some of your rain, Lynn! DH and I are barely doing anything in this heat. I did a few challenges to catch up some.
Glad you are back , Jayne .
ouch, Kathy, I am always running in to things like that. My skin is thin nowadays and I bruise badly.
I guess I will go walk in the basement to get some steps, because up here it drives DH crazy when I walk around. LOL. To hot to walk outside. 3 digits now for over a month!
Yes Sharon, dogs is our challenge, unless you have an appropriate sentiment that says 'Dog's days of summer', or something else that has the word dog in it. S2S22AUG is our keyword. Wow, in the hundreds is too hot for me even. Stay cool in your air conditioning.
Lynn, not all areas of the province got rain. I have friends who are farmers and they did not get any, even though they need it desperately. Grumpy is an experienced hiker/camper/portager. He will be fine. There are quite likely places there that don't have cell coverage.

I finally heard from grumpy. They were hung over and took their time. Very unusual. They are safe and I will get an update on Sunday. I think the party continues tomorrow. Grumpy will need time to recover, he's usually in bed by 10pm due to his work schedule. He took tomorrow off.

Poor grumpy needs recovery time! So the bo6s went camping and drank too much so they were late getting back and I wasn't the only one worried. His friend left Saturday morning back to Saskatchewan. Saturday morning grumpy picked up a different friend and went to a friend's mobile trailer or stationy caravan. It is 9nly for warm weather, no services in the winter. Got back around dinner time. He is now officially brown with his tan. They were not far north and it was a scorcher. My living room was 31 with 70% humidity, so their group was in the water most of the time.
I have been good. My bedroo has AC so I spent most of my time reading. I did go to a store and get my steps in.
Stay comfortable everyone

OK I was coming out of itand Murphy was just waiting! The credit card I use for online purchases was hacked. I got a text that there was fraudulent activity but it wasn't from a source I know so I deleted it. I got a phone call but thought it was spam so I let it go to voicemail. The company said there was a questionable charge so I called the number on the back of my credit card. Hours later.. the person was having quite a life on my card! I explained to the person all my limitations and all but 2 charges were not mine. Someone had fun, was dating, Uber and other stuff. Then of course I need to notify credit agencies. Tomorrow I will go to the bank. I don't know what I did wrong. I guess the good part is that the credit card had a very low allowance and it was proven with my past history that I don't do much. I need chocolate
Yes, after our family of five leave after Christmas, it is a big letdown! I know how you feel Jan! Exhausted but missing them! I am sad to think they aren’t coming this year! Don’t know if I can get DH to travel there or not.
I think I have one more day of checking to do. Checking all accounts and changing passwords. I hate figuring out passwords. I got my blood test yesterday. I have to book a mammogram. They want me to check my cervix but I haven't had one since 1997! Oh the weather turned and I can breathe again!
So how is everyone? Oz is in winter so i don't have to worry about it being too hot there. Everywhere else is too hot and not enough rain.
Cat is being weird. Yup she is 15 now and I am struggling to get food for her. She has dry food and water. I am getting wet food too but she only licks off any juice. I tried giving her broth but she won't eat that. I am trying wet food with broth. Anyone have any ideas?
Big huge hugs

Lynn we had the same thing happen twice, luckily the bank stopped it, once someone in Mexico City tried to buy barrels of beer with our credit card and last time someone tried to use it in the north of Spain in a supermarket within an hour of us using it here, that’s why they were suspicious as we live six hours drive away. pleased to hear you have it all sorted now,it’s such a pain.
lovely bright sweater, looks warm and cosy.
I’ve never had a cat but our dog, Sam,would go off his food so we used to mix his dried food with spaghetti bolognaise, he used to lick the bowl clean! He always preferred our food to dog food
