Three hours before midnight, and 2021 ends. For many people it has been a difficult year. So we will start over again, having high hopes for 2022.
This challenge used to be about creating lots of cards and projects to justify or earn more spending. That changed last year and this thread became more of a support/friendship group. Weekly challenges became monthly challenges last year, and I would like to continue that. This year, as we support each other, I would like to see us also reach out to our communities. So, I will be posting double challenges each month. The basic challenge will be for the type of card/project and the secondary part of the challenge will be to send it to a member of our community that is designated. For example, in January, I am designating a card to go to a nursing home resident.
Happy New Year everyone!

This month's challenge will be to create a card/project that is colourful and cheerful. The second part of this challenge will be to send a card to a nursing home resident this month. I am sure most of us will know of at least one person in a nursing home. If not, check with your friends or relatives, and I am sure you will find someone. Believe me, it will brighten their day greatly.

Happy New Year! Great challenge. I don't know anyone in a nursing home but I will check our church bulletin because I'm sure it lists those in a nursing home. our church secretary emails me a bulletin every week since we don't go and haven't gone since 2019.
Great idea to start off 2022 with a cheery card for someone in a nursing home, Ina! My FIL was a recipient of Teapotter Tuesday cards this past year, and he was so thrilled and it cheered up the whole Assisted Living facility to see cards from all over the world.
I'm going to try to keep up with challenges this year!

I keep going to the wrong thread. I’m still in 2021 lol. Ina are you able to stick the thread? That may put it to the top.
I’m taking the decorations down today. A job that I don’t like. Fortunately I don’t have to wrestle with the tree as it’s going.
Happy day everyone.

Some people are able to "stick" a thread so it stays at the top. I don't think we have that ability. I just unsubscribe to the old thread. Then it's not in my subscriptions so it doesn't show up in my subscriptions.
Kathy I think you are right. I know when I host WTUI I can stick a thread. Maybe it's just hostesses. Good idea about the subscription. I will do that.

I'm always amazed at how I'm ready for bed and your day has really just started! And amazed at how I have a friend from Australia! My DH is impressed when I tell him states and countries in which I have friends! Australia, Canada,Spain, ireland wisconsin minnesota, ohio, indiana, kansas, hawaii, , florida, california, etc....especially since we hate to travel! LOL
I finally got the decorations down...phew...what a relief. I love the trimmings and the excitement of the little ones at Xmas but gosh I'm always relieved once I've taken them down and put them away for another year.
I still haven't got to my play room but there's still time before dinner lol. That is strange to me. That we are having dinner and you ladies are just going to bed and my family are waking up and enjoying their morning.
Kathy you can travel through us as Lynn does.

I just gave someone a giggle! I knew I was going for frozen food but forgot my bags and my cart. Got into the elevator with a 50something guy and said

We both giggled ourselves silly till our floor!

I am busy creating, or rather foraging. I'm digging into my paper stash, for partialky finished panels and cards. Only trouble is, I can't find my favourite punch, the tailored tag punch. Time to improvise.

I like a cool bedroom too. What gets to me is never knowing. The sun came out for a bit and warmed the place up a bit. I think the heat has been turned off 4 times this heating season already. Oh the joys!
My nordic poles may arrive tomorrow. The instructor has been in touch. I wanted to know if I would be able to do it before I buy. Yup people in worse shape than me have no problem.
Grumpy is working today. It should be a day off but if there are a ton of parcels, some people can get overtime delivering them. Fortunately he is not doing a lot of walking outside.
In 2020 when you proposed we do only one challenge per month, you mentioned making 4 cards, one for each week of the month, using the same theme/ challenge. I have been adhering to this plan, but I'm not sure you still mean that, as you have you have never mentioned that again.
So, is the challenge to make only one card per month, or should we still be making one for each week of the month with that same theme/ challenge...in other words, at least 4 cards for each month?

Carlene I thought it was just one card a month. Gosh I can’t keep up with that let alone one a week lol. I’m sure Ina will clarify.
I don’t like to be cold….or hot lol. Our bedroom and the front of the house is cooler than the rest of the rooms. We have had to have the aircon on all night recently which is unknown for us. I’d much prefer the cold to heat.
Lynn..love your joke..yep new year, same brain…and body lol. Hugs back

Carlene, I am sorry you misunderstood. It was just for that one month to make 4 challenge themed cards. I know there are other challenges every day on splitcoast and other paper crafting sites. Just 1 challenge card for this month, although I will be making 15 this week. My sister-in-law Grace leads a hymn sing in a local nursing home every week. About 10 days ago they closed the home to visitors, due to Omicron. So we will be giving a card or treat to all the usual attendees each week. I offered to do this week.
Yes, our provincial government is taking extreme measures again, in order to prevent overburdening the health care system. Schools are switched to on-line learning for at least 2 weeks. Closing of many businesses, others at only 50 % capacity, restaurants only take out food, etc.

Here is a link to my first S2S22JAN challenge card. I posted this challenge rather selfishly, as I knew that I would be making colourful, cheerful cards for the nursing home residents who attend our weekly hymn sings. We are again being prevented from going in for this ministry due to Covid. So we are again providing them with a card, a note or a treat on a weekly basis. My turn this week. OMGosh! Thank you for the clarification. You may have noticed in my "cardmaking catch-up" I have been place at least 4 cards per month in all the challenges since 2020! LOL...laughing until my sides hurt! Sure got that one wrong, Jayne! I did note that you didn't remention the multiple cards when you started 2021, but I figures you knew we understood from the past explanation when you made the switch to once a month rather than every week. Too bad I didn't ask this question last year! Here I thought I was still way behind! I will have to re-evaluate my make-list!
Ina...so sorry to hear you are back to close-downs, etc. I'm still not one to go out much around lots of people I do not know...my son is so good about grocery shopping, I've only been in Costco 3 times in 2 years and Walmart about 4 times. I did visit IKEA and Home Depot when my daughter first bought her house last year...these stores were only allowing in a certain number of people at that time, so it was fairly easy to stay away from others. Now that they don't have those kinds of restrictions, I'm glad we do not need to be shopping as much!
Lynn...you are sure right about same old body, same old brain, etc. Had to chuckle over that one!
We had a surprise, very sad event happen a week before Thanksgiving. My brother's wife (only one brother) died suddenly and unexpectedly. They had just moved 3 weeks before to Midland, Oregon from Nevada City, CA (northern Sierra Nevada mountains). Midland is 7 miles south from Klamath Falls and about 25 miles over CA/OR. border...farming area. They didn't even have the house totally unpacked when it happened. We've been reeling trying to come to terms with it. She slipped and fell and hit her head. She has had 3 rounds of cancer and appeared to have the onset of dementia. My brother had been working in the garage, unpacking all of his stuff...he remodels/ rebuilds antique cars...so lots of stuff! He came in and found her on the floor. Quite the shock! My 96-year old spry Mom and my younger sister drove up from northern CA and stayed for about a week and a half to help him out. Everyone is doing better now that we are through the holidays.
Snow is finally starting to melt with our 39F day. Our icicles are getting smaller! Our downhill driveway is still very slick...I think we need to contemplate a 4-wheel drive on our next vehicle. Getting to old to walk up the driveway to our cars parked on the narrow country road! We're still waiting for them to come in a get our garbage...they are 2-1/2 weeks overdue! We are in the county and they don't get into neighborhoods to plow or sand and with so many trees and shade, we at the mercy of a slow melt!

Well I guess we are doing lock downs again. It is like a bad ride.. yup I wanna get off! Anyways. The twins mom is sick. She hosted 13 over the break. I have no idea what is happening at schools. Hunter, grumpy camping friend is sick. A work buddy is also sick with covid. So.
Ina has a great idea. Grandpa will be in lockdown and I am not certain what he thinks of cards, very practical man. You know, 1 cup, 1 plate and so on. So I thought I would do postcards instead! I think I will use pictures from grumpy camping trip.
Oh Ina do you want me to cut down my group of 7 calendar for you to use as cards? Oh right I have a silly cat calendar too. Just tell me what size you want.
Big huge sanitized hugs

Thanks for the offer Lynn, but I have a huge stash of sruff myself. Postcards is a great idea though (and I have quite a stash of those too). This week's cards are almost done: just have to sign them. Next week is Grace's turn, and she is already working on them.
Lynn, I am sorry so many of your aquaintances are sick. My daughter had a gathering of about 20 on Christmas day. A few days later their whole family got bad colds. They did not get tested. Evryone is better except my DD, but she is getting there..

Ina I went to the old thread too until I read your post LOL. Easy to do.
Carlene, sorry to hear about your SIL. Sending hugs.
Lynn, so many people and friends sick. So sorry to hear. You keep safe.
Numbers are rising every day over East here and now it's here in our State...ugh!!! I'm not sure how we can all steer clear of it.
So our van is due for pickup next week and they tell us today that they couldn't do all the upgrades we asked for. One was important to me. DH says he will ask them to provide it once they get stocks. They also forgot hooks outside the shower. Where do we put our towels now LOL? Gee everything is blamed on covid with sales people but they have been asked to fix. On another note, we did book some more campsites. DH is adamant we are off and gone. I hope there's internet coverage LOL.
Happy day everyone. Keep warm, cool, safe wherever you are.

Carlene, so sorry about your sister-in-law. Quite an unexpected shock. And in these days, we can't properly have 'celebration of life' events and support each other.
Your place in the country sounds ideal, all except an icy uphill driveway. It's so wonderful to live among trees and nature. I have the best of both worlds here. I live in a subdivision of 20 houses, and there is a mix of retired people (5 houses) middle agers and youg families. 15 children under 12. Lots of activity, play and laughter. But we are 5 miles out of town, and a 3 minute walk gets us onto the country road. We can walk in the woods or along a cottage road. Oh yes, I also live 3 houses away from a small lake. My neighbour and I walk 5 or 6 days a week, in the fresh air, past 2 farms (sheep, cows and horses) through the woods, past a camp, or to a dam, and back via the cottage road. In the winter, we don't encounter too many people, but during the summer we do see people walking dogs, or gardening, etc. I love it here.

Another cold day, you would think it is winter! Sending it all to OZ!
My poles are here. Gonna have to figure out which height to make them. I found some gloves that will work. Trying to get a load of laundry in then I will do the videos again.
Stay sane. Stay safe.

Lynn, it's not very cold here, just a bit windy. +1°C right now and it was very pleasant on our walk this morning. We walked on a trail through the woods, so were sheltered from the wind. It is nowing right now.

Ina it sounds wonderful where you live and parts of your description reminded me of my childhood and our village. We used to be able to walk around our small village and everyone knew everybody. There were fields where the farmers were working and behind our house were woods where in spring daffodils and bluebells grew. Not as picturesque as where you lived but I did love it when younger. Today it’s been taken over by developers and all the farmers fields are gone and there’s housing estates and shopping centre. I don’t like visiting as it makes me sad.
Lynn be careful practicing with your poles. We don’t want mishaps.

I hear you! So my poles have arrived but it was a disgusting day. Today I may go down to the parking garage and practice. First I need to do the videos again and again and again! Lol
Ummm I don't think my place has changed I think I have. So for the last 10 years at least I have had night sweats. Now I sleep with a heating pad and socks on. For years I have been using culturally as a prebiotic but now my body can't handle it and I have to use align. Haven't had a hot flash in over a month. To me it appears that when I took the ryblesus it rebooted my system. Sounds weird but then I am weird and have strange side effects to meds. While I was on the rybelsus no hot flashes or night sweats. It doesn't seem to be just me. My friend was on ozempic, the injectable form of the med, 4 months out and she is still having IBS like symptoms that she never had before.
