Default Hi

Dropping in to say hello!
I had a sluggish day last Tuesday, by nightfall I was totally stuffed up and slept all day Wed and Wed night too. Had a doc appt on Thursday for vocal chords- and she said it was allergy related.....
Even though I have done Speech PT, I have made no progress, or getting sick took me back to where I started..... Oh well. I had an unproductive week.....!

Oh goodness, my Mom and her father were huge book people. We always did summer reading and I would ride my bike to the library and spend hours there. I would sneak a flashlight into my room and read under the covers at bedtime! LOL Now, I listen to alot of audiobooks- my tingling and numbness in arms and hands increases when elbows are bent, so hard to hold a book.
I had a letterboxing event in January at the Milwaukee Public library- it looks like a capitol building quite majestic inside! Wow- they have used books for sale- all kids get one free. HUGE area with $1 and $2 books and CDs, etc.... It was fabulous, and so wonderful! We have an incredible library here too. I just popped over there on Thursday after doc appt.

Dagmar- I missed your Birthday- you'll get a card to continue the party! Shirl as well!

We are leaving later this week for Gulf Shores, AL. I have a friend that spends the entire month of Feb there. We are going for 2 weeks and will drive Thursday afternoon and Friday.. We will be there for Superbowl, Ash Wednesday also Valentines Day and our Wedding Anniversary : ) Looking forward to SUNSHINE!!!

Melodie- my Grandmother won blue ribbons year after year at the State Fair in Illinois- she used lard in her crust! Her pies were amazing- farmer's wife........ I love that you make your own crust!

I have a few cards created, but not uploaded. Its a fun Alpha challenge and sorry I am so slow this round!

Shelly

Happy first full week of February 2024. The sky is pink in the east, very pretty.
My son Joe and his wife Leah came for the day on Saturday, finally was able to have Christmas with them. It was a short but very sweet visit. We ate some good food, came over here for gift opening, back to Liz's for dinner from Hmong Golden Egg Roll. Such a lovely time we had. I got a rock tumbler from my kids and grands, along with the grit powders needed for polishing the rocks I picked up on Lake Superior last fall. I also got a non fiction book called Ice, all about the history of ice, because I'm an ice fanatic. I love lots of ice in my drinks. The book is kind of a joke, my kids think it's a baby boomer thing to love ice so much; I just like things to be cold if they're supposed to be and hot if they're supposed to be. Long about May, I stop drinking hot coffee, move on to iced coffee.
Shelly, I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I hope there aren't any allergy issues in Alabama. Happy anniversary!
Catherine, that's a super thing to tell your daughter. I still remember a piano professor I had in college, when I was trying to learn a Chopin etude, told me that while I had small hands, they were 'elastic.' Not elastic enough for Chopin, I'd say.
Dagmar and Linda, I hope you had good birthdays!!!!
I am so thrilled with my new kitchen faucet, I can't even express how happy I am to have instant hot water. Now I have to remember that cold is up, hot is down, the opposite of the old faucet. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy. But I can't wait to have gutters on my house. Lots of drip-page off the roof.
Speaking of ice, my daughter dropped over with some food for me last week and told me to go down to the curb and see the interesting formation of ice in the gutter. She knows I love to walk on ice that has water underneath. I went down, took some pictures, then walked on the ice to hear it crack and see the water move. Quite lovely. Don't worry, I'd never walk on a barely frozen body of water. Like I said, it doesn't take much to make me happy.
Guess that's enough from me today. Have a good one!

Shelly good to you hear from you but sorry you aren’t well.

Jean I’m easily pleased too, my new blinds in the conservatory are a joy as I can sit without getting too hot,Steve’s been laughing as when I open them I like them to be the same height,he says he’s going to buy me a laser to measure they are straight!

Catherine our DIL rang and was saying to storms are the Pineapple Express from Hawaii, her friend had cancelled her birthday party at the restaurant, she said she’s having a super bowl party instead, our DIL wasn’t impressed as she doesn’t like watching it!
she took GS to a Trampoline party, !! She said the storm was quite bad so instead of walking the dogs she sat in the car waiting with a hot chocolate with our eldest GS, he wanted to know why he agreed to sit in a car in the storm when he could have been at home reading his book.

I think your blinds top my faucet, Jan. This house didn't come with any window treatments, I bought some cheap curtains but they didn't work out well for the living room. Later in the afternoon, if I am in the living room, the sun is right in my face. Not hot this time of year, thankfully and by the time summer arrives, the sun will be higher in the sky.
Wouldn't you know my daughter is going to San Diego the end of the week?! She has been watching the weather.

Good morning, everyone, from stormy Northern California! Goodness, I thought the house was going to have lift off last night! The wind raced around here making the house make sounds I've never heard from it before! Thankfully, we are still here in one piece this morning and even with electricity! In a strange reversal of fortune, I have electricity at home...in the country...but work in the city is without power with estimated restoration TBD. Needless to say, I am working from home today, yay! DH and I think it is because the snow storm that made the tree come down on our house took out most, if not all, of the trees up here so there weren't as many left to cause problems with this storm. Down the hill, they didn't have the snow to take out the weak trees so there are power outages everywhere.

Yesterday was an exciting day - in a good way - though. We acquired two new faucets for our bathroom (en suite with our bedroom) and DD2 installed them yesterday. She was so excited to do it, when she saw we had purchased them, she immediately asked her dad if she could install them! I have disliked the faucets from the time we bought the house but, because we needed two, we hadn't acquired any. DD2 also painted the walls in the front bathroom yesterday. There is some fiddly stuff she needs to do around the light and she still needs to do the ceiling but it is looking much better in there. So exciting!

I did laundry, laundry, laundry yesterday! A friend of ours has not been feeling well and, when I asked her if we could help her in any way, she asked if I could do her laundry as she didn't feel up to dealing with the laundry room at her apartment complex. So that took a while and when the storm started raging, I was just praying the power would stay on so I could finish her laundry! It did, thankfully.

DD2 had an ambitious list of tasks she wanted to get done yesterday - and got a good portion of it done. DH is always happy to teach her things like installing the faucets. She helped him with replacing some outlets before too. She loves learning it and he loves sharing his abundant knowledge with her.

Shelly, so sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hopefully you'll be well before you get to AL but, if not, hopefully the sunshine will really heal you! Happy anniversary to you!

Jean, yay on having your family Christmas celebration. It sounds like a wonderful time! It is very fun to see the water moving under a layer of ice, I know what you mean.

Do you make your iced coffee at home? I ask because I am too much of a tightwad to buy iced coffee at, say, Starbucks. I always told DD1 I didn't want to pay full coffee price for a cup full of ice. I throw them off in the summer because I'll order my hot blond caramel macchiato and, on auto pilot, they'll make a cold one and then have to re-make it!

So glad you have your new kitchen faucet too, and hot water. Fabulous!

I have a cousin who plays piano but can't reach an octave with her hands which makes things challenging.

Jan, when I woke up, I wondered about your Bay Area family. I bet the winds were really fierce over there.

Yay for new blinds too! Steve cracks me up!

Jean, your daughter should be good for San Diego by the end of the week, I would think. Good thing it wasn't end of last week though! Is this a fun trip? In old town San Diego, on Congress Street, is a restaurant called Pizza Bella. They have the best pesto sauce, I highly recommend them. When we lived in the LA area, every time we got down to San Diego, we always ate there. Of course, I'm not sure if it works with their new eating plan but just throwing it out there.

And now Catherine's TWO faucets top my one. Faucets are expensive. Brava to your daughter for learning to install and fix things. Start buying her tools so she has her own tool chest.
Meanwhile here, we have sun, birds are acting like they want to start nesting. I've been thinking about you, Catherine and Jan's family. Goodness gracious.
An octave has always been the most I can reach and now it's less. If one doesn't play a lot, one loses elasticity.

Wow, lots of chat to read and catch up on! I ditto everything Catherine said in answer to all the posts...she is so good at remembering everything! Of course, she is younger! LOL

Yay, for all of you with new things in your home! It is always a fun pick me up to update or change things at home. I love the little things like that too.

I went to a quilt demonstration with 4 neighbors on Saturday. Then, we went to lunch and back to the quilt store to buy material to start a quilt. Such fun. By the time I got home, I took a 2 hour nap! Sheesh! My stamina is still lacking. Sunday, I cut out quilt pieces on and off all day, in between resting and icing my knee. My knee was pretty sore last night, so I took Tylenol PM and slept for 10 hours!

Shelly safe travels and feel better. Catherine, I'm glad you had no storm damage. Jan, you sound like me with wanting the blinds even. Jean, what a fun weekend with family! We'll have to call you Jean Bean the Ice Queen, now. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Catherine pleased to hear you survived the storm, when we’re at our sons it scares me all the creaking when it’s windy but I guess not being brick built they will creak.
Your DD2 is very talented to be fixing taps as we call them, Steve is good at DIY but anything water related he doesn’t touch, always has a problem.

We drove from SF to San Diego years ago,, loved the old town, we saw a car with a funny registration, I love Nigel, so I was telling our DIL who said it’s a friend of theirs, our son and DIL lived at La Jolla for two years before our DIL was offered the job in SF.
seems strange to us that you can have your own registration plates as here and England you can’t although in England people buy plates with certain letters to look, like a name, our son has a specialised one on his race car!!

Gracie pleased to see you are getting about, I think we all do too much when we are feeling a little better, great to get a good nights sleep.

Woke up to thick fog so all the tiles are wet, it’s clearing now so hopefully the sun will be out later.

Hello Jan and Ann. Wow, you both are experiencing fog today. Of course, I'm sure it's a lot warmer for Jan. We are getting the storms from California today with high winds, rain and possibly snow!

Good morning! It is foggy here this morning but, thankfully, not freezing fog like Ann has. DH discovered this morning that the high winds dislodged the tarp that is over our wood supply so some of our dry wood isn't quite as dry now. Poor DD2 had to be at work at 3 am this morning as they have an early truck. At least I got to see her yesterday afternoon more than I would have if I had been working at the office. Speaking of the office, the power was restored and then it went out again - with a restore estimate of Thursday by 10 pm! Thankfully, it is back on this morning. Hopefully it will last this time.

Jean, I'm just excited for all of us to have some new things in our homes. I'm especially happy for you to have hot water in your kitchen. Thankfully, the pair of faucets we have weren't terribly expensive, hopefully they will last. They are Pfister brand and DH really likes the drain style.

We are now saving money to re-do our kitchen - new cabinets, counters, etc. It will be a while before we can do it but saving, saving, saving.

Gracie, it takes a long while to build up the stamina post a big surgery like you had. I'm glad you had a nap and then a good 10 hour sleep, good for you. Be kind and patient with yourself.

I think I'm too impatient to quilt but I sure love handmade quilts, so beautiful!

Jan, the wind was rattling around our house and making sounds I'd never heard. Thankfully, not creaking so much as wind sounds like when you blow across a bottle opening.

As for the faucet/tap installation, DD2 did the work but DH is the one who taught her. He did say that they have become even easier to install than they used to be. It was so cute, she was excited to learn and he was excited to teach her.

Fog seems to be a theme today!

Oh Gracie, I'm sorry you are getting the storms from here, that wind is horrendous! Sounds like a perfect day to stay inside and craft/read/quilt/rest!

Good morning! It is 41 degrees here and drizzly with rain forecast for the whole day. DD2 amazed me yesterday. After getting up for work at 1:20 am and working a full 8 hours at Michaels - a truck day 8 hours which is more demanding on her - she came home and painted the ceiling in the front bathroom. Little by little, she is getting it done. She has fiddly painting around the lighting to do, cleaning up the edges from the ceiling to the walls, and she wants to paint the cabinet. I want to replace the cabinet and counter but, in the meantime, a coat of paint on the cabinet will make it look so much better. She actually talked about painting the counter/sink too but I don't think we're going to do that.

Gracie, I hope the weather was less stormy than expected.

Kathy, I could definitely keep cooler weather all year long!

I hope everyone is doing well. I think I'll go check out the Alphabet gallery.

Everyone must be busy, busy, busy! It has turned chilly here so both layers of my comforter is feeling wonderful at night time. DD2 continues to work on the front bathroom. Yesterday, after work, she replaced the double switch as DH is slowly changing them from the old kind to the rocker switch style. She has helped him with it in the past and loves learning these skills and he loves having the help! Next up is replacing the outlet to update the color and style.

I hope everyone is doing well and aches and pains are at a minimum.

The ideas flow from my family for each letter. This week for H, my husband suggested Hardware Store. I do not have anything related to hardware, so if you have the new SU hammers, etc. and matching DSP from Sale-a-bration, you would be set with his theme. I wanted Holland, but did not have a windmill. I saw Vicky went with tulips for Holland. He mentioned Havana, Cuba with their vintage cars. It seems they have old cars and keep them running. I better start the thought process on the letter I. I know my family will flood my brain with ideas.

The Hot Air Balloons came about as we kept hearing a noise yesterday that sounded like when a hot air balloon is taking off or landing. That was fun to work on.

Catherine, it is so neat that your daughter is learning how to fix things and doing the updating. We do not have fixers here, so she would be an asset in my household.

Afternoon everyone!

So wonderful Catherine that you daughter is learning those skills! Sure is helping your family and will be nice for her in the future! You have such a wonderful family!

I wished I would have thought of Holland for the theme of the week, I know I do have a windmill stamp! Oh well!!

Gracie, sorry to hear that the storms are coming your way. I spoke with my number three sons MIL and she lost power in California with all of the storms. She is is Pacifica and it seems her power always goes out during these storms. She was laughing about how she had just gotten up to get some water, out of her electric power recliner!! She said thank heavens she didn't get stuck in it with the power out!

Have a good day all, I'm off to load laundry! Fun stuff!

Hey everyone, I'm here, I'm here! We have a beautiful day going today, although yes, windy. I think the wind is coming into the exhaust fan in the bathroom, sounds like critters in the house. Well, who knows, I have had critters in the past. The birds are certainly acting like they're ready to build nests and one place they could do that is in my eves and soffits since they aren't closed up. I hope Scott realizes that if those nests get built and he has to pull some out to seal up this house, there might be eggs. He is a good human and doesn't want to kill anything. I guess he could try to put the nests elsewhere but then the parents wouldn't find them.
Catherine, your daughter is amazing getting up so early but she's young, I guess it's easier then. Never easy for me to mess with my sleep. Well done on wanting to redo the kitchen. The kitchen here was redone about 10 years ago, not very expensively and it is showing wear and tear. The hardest part about the faucet was getting the old one out. I had to help hold the new one steady so Scott could tighten it. The sink and cabinet are very small so he was on his back under the sink, very confining.
Jan, I used to have our wedding anniversary on my license plate...that went away a while ago. It's more expensive and registration is expensive as it is.
Gracie, I didn't know you quilted. I want my aunt to make me a small quilt, I need to remind her of that. But I'm glad you're getting back into doing things....take a day of rest in between the fun.

We're getting thunder storms in our area, at least nearby. How's that for February weather?

We have two days of high winds coming apparently , it’s still hot here, so strange to be quite so warm not to even wear a lightweight coat or fleece, Steve had a short sleeve top on yesterday to walk on the seafront.

I ordered a couple of 3D embossing folders and some of those oval shaped blending sponges with the long handles, I sent them to our son to bring over, he opened the.packet to show me and he said there’s something that looks like toothbrushes for a walrus!

Our kitchen is twenty years old but it’s wearing well, about twelve years ago we had more units on the third wall put in as it’s not a big kitchen and needed more cupboard space but we couldn’t get any worktops to match the ones we had, a shame as I really liked the marble looking ones, these are black mottled and hard to see any bits on them!

Good morning, everyone - for a few more minutes here where I am anyway. It has been pretty quiet on here lately, you must all be very busy. I'm guessing some of you are getting ready to watch some big football game today. Can you tell I don't care about it at all?! I do happen to know who is playing because I have friends who are fans of both sides.

Lisa, I am blessed to have a DH who is an excellent fix it man. If he doesn't already know how to fix something, he can figure it out. My dad was like that too. My DH sometimes wishes he weren't so talented! And he is so happy to be sharing his knowledge and skills with DD2.

Ann, I hadn't thought about people who have those electric recliners to help them get up and power outages! Good thing she had just gotten up before she lost power.

Jean, yes, some sinks are very confined and difficult to work under. My co-worker's kitchen sink is that way. DD2 needed DH's muscles to get one of the faucets out but, other than that, she was good.

Jan, we want to re-do our kitchen for several reasons. The biggest is that the dishwasher and refrigerator are too close together. The only way it truly works is to have a counter depth refrigerator but we don't want that because it is too small! DH doesn't like the counters either because they are a dark blue with specks - also hard to see any bits on them. When we re-did the kitchen at our other house, before we sold, we put in white cabinets and granite counters. We also fixed some things that always bothered me such as centering the sink with the window.

Afternoon everyone!

I will be watching the commercials for Super Bowl Sunday! I love to see them, there have been some good ones over the years!

The cold is making it's way back to us later this week with a wintery mix coming!! Not looking forward to it! Gives me headaches with the changes in weather.

Off to get some things done before the game, have a great rest of your weekend everyone!

Okay crafty friends I have some questions for you all. Does anyone know if there is a sugar packet temple out there? to cover up the sugar packet like you see restaurants. And what about for the lemon juice packet. To cover up them up too? I found a teabag temple and I doing tea too. But I was hoping to find something for the sugar packets and lemon packets too. Yes, I am working on Mother's stuff, and I am doing a rectangle box with teacups dies on the boxes with tea and sugar packets and lemon packets too. And I doing tea cookies some kinds. Thanks Linda

Good afternoon! We are not sports fans here, but I try to keep up a bit in case I chat with a sibling. My brothers follow the Cardinals in baseball and the Chiefs in football. Living in central MO, I am surrounded with neighbors who are Chiefs fans. I am sure tonight will have fireworks whether they win or not. The neighbors dogs are sporting Chiefs jackets to keep them warm and they are big fans at that house always having the flag out.

Is today President's Day or next week? Nope, Jean, next week! Good, I have a Valentine to get into the mail.
I didn't watch a bit of the SB. I watched the Puppy Bowl XX on the Discovery Channel. I've never watched it before because it wasn't on channels I had. I didn't realize it was 3 hours long...whooo boy. It must be so much fun to edit the film and pick out the moments and figure out the script. I loved it! I wanted to adopt every puppy, especially Mr. Bean who was born without front legs. Can you imagine?? I assumed he'd had an amputation. I suppose most dogs born like that are put down. He was hopping around, so cute, he actually scored a field goal, which is pushing the ball or toy over the goal line with a paw or a nose. Gotta carry it in the mouth for a touchdown. Adorable!!!! Team Ruff won the 'Lombarky' trophy. Lombarky!!!!!! Hahahahahaha. I hope Vince would smile at that.
Liz made it to San Diego, is having a great time. I'm seeing blue sky in the photos. She may bring me some ocean rocks....yay!
Not that much going on here. It's cold again, although not like in January. 35 degrees today, above freezing. I'm heading up north on Thursday, just a dusting of snow up there. Sooooo different from last year, holy cow.
Melody, that is the cutest dealer I've ever seen. I don't know anyone around here who is selling cookies, I usually would buy from some friend's granddaughters. Probably best I don't buy any but if someone goes door to door, I'll probably cave...or at the grocery store.
Needed a tetanus shot so did that on Friday. Probably the easiest one I've ever had, no issues or soreness to speak of. The pharmacist said 'you're good for 10 years.' My reply was 'maybe my last one.' He said 'I hear that a lot.' Here I thought I was being all clever.
I was commissioned by my brother to make a birthday card for my sister in law, whose birthday is 2/27. She, like me, was born in 1952, evaded a leap year birthday. I'm making several cards so he can choose. His criteria was birds, flowers and her name on the front, which is challenging as I don't have many letter dies. I don't trust my lettering.
Well I'm just babbling so I'll stop. Have a good Monday! Monday, Monday, can't trust that day.....

Good morning! It is lovely and sunny here today though DH tells me more rain is coming. I haven't checked the forecast to see. I didn't watch any of the SB - you expected that, right? I did check on who was winning and who won because I have friends who are Forty-niner fans (expected considering where I live) and also friends who are Chiefs fans. It was fun to google the game after it was over because Google had fireworks that showed on the screen when I did that. I hope your team won (I know, for many of you, your team wasn't in the game.)

I did google and watch Reba sing the national anthem for it but haven't seen any commercials other than the T-Mobile one.

We are trying to figure out housing for DD1 for next school year as the college has so many students, she won't be able to live in the dorm. In the meantime, DD2 has decided on what her next steps are, she is going to attend community college here close by to start. When that happens, she'll have to step down as Replenishment Manager though.

Ann, did you enjoy the commercials? I got a kick out of the T-Mobile one I saw.

Linda, I'm sorry, I have no information to help you in your search for templates.

Lisa, I'm with you, not a football fan but kept an eye on the results so I knew which of my friends were happy.

That's a good one, Melody!

Jean, I have never heard of the puppy bowl but that sounds adorable and fun to watch! I hope your SIL has a short name!

Happy Monday everyone. I did watch the Super Bowl with DH. I've been crafting and sewing lately, so I thought I'd spend the evening with him. He enticed me with shrimp and nachos. Yum. I loved the couch potato commercial. LOL Jean, I love the Puppy Bowl too! So cute.

Good Monday morning funny, Melody. I haven't been out much except to PT, so I haven't been approached by any cookie dealers!

Catherine, that is so wonderful that DD2 loves to learn about things from your DH. Very good skills to have. I used to unload trucks for Michaels at 3 am for a couple of years after I retired. It was kind of fun, but the pay sucked! We did end up with about 3 inches of snow. There was a 10 to 14 inches of snow just north of us! Crazy weather. It was warmer in Wisconsin last week than here in Payson!

I love to hear about everyone's remodeling. It's always fun to change things up.

I went to my 8 week knee replacement appointment last Thursday. After waiting over an hour, I had to see another Dr. as my Surgeon was very overbooked that day! I won't go into detail but I had written a 3 page letter about my experiences since October with the clinic, hospital and Dr. I asked the Dr. that I saw to give my letter and a handwritten note to my surgeon. On Friday, I received 3 calls...one from the hospital administrator, one from my surgeon and one from the Vice President of Patient Care. Everyone apologized for the poor communication and lack of care I received throughout this ordeal. They promised to follow up on my concerns and would get back to me. I feel much better now that I've been heard and hopefully, they will make changes to their patient care practices.

Catherine, I googled the score after the game and saw the fireworks also. We knew who won based on the neighbors shooting off fireworks. It sounded like it was in our backyard! My daughter said it was the house next to the one behind us. They spent the money!!

If you are an Instagram person, there are skeletons in someone's backyard that they are decorating for all sorts of things, but they decorated for the Super Bowl with 2 skeletons. Look for this: Southampton Skelly I saw this in the news.

Gracie, my sister is an OT and in her experience, orthopedic doctors are very difficult to work with, although with what has been going on with her husband and his pacemaker, maybe she is now thinking it's cardiologists. That is crazy to wait an hour. Janet contacted the patient advocate and now her husband is seeing another cardiologist and is getting more definitive answers. Hope things go better for you.
Catherine, that's interesting that your daughter can't live in the dorms next year. Was she a freshman this year? I still remember some of the places lived, one in particular that was condemned and torn down. Yup, it was disgusting.
On Facebook I follow the Band Director Jokes page, since I was a band/choral director. I'm sharing a photo that was on that page yesterday. I really really dislike how our National Anthem is sung/played for the most part. I didn't listen yesterday; I've had two reviews on Reba. I like her generally; my sister said she noodled too much (noodling is what we call embellishing the basics), one other person liked it. So I can't really speak to Reba. I prefer hearing it played by a band or orchestra and I like to sing along. One can't with all the embellishing that happens. No one can sing any more. My favorite thing is when the singer spends so much time on the first word that they need a breath after it. Ridiculous. Yes, I'm opinionated about music. We are the only country in the world that massacres the national anthem. It's not a performance, people.

While my DH is still sleeping, I thought I would say hello. I'm enjoying the challenge, as usual, and combining it with the sketch challenge every week, as I have both early.

DH has had all the tests, and nothing is physically wrong, so we know it's dementia. He spends the day watching TV or playing solitaire on this computer. He's always been a big man (6'4", 260 #), but now is down to 200, and not hungry much. He's content with small portions, and yogurt has become a mainstay.

I can get to my craft room when he's dozing, which he does a lot, but seldom go anywhere. I take him out for lunch once a week just to get him out of the house, and we bring home most of what I order for him. He no longer can make decisions.

I did get out yesterday when our Son Paul came to be with him. I had a mani-pedi, and I can't remember the last time I treated myself. A small thing, but I was so happy to do it!

Our great-grandbaby was Baptized on the 4th in the dress my grandmother, mother, and I made for my children 59 years ago. She is a beautiful child, big eyes, a little copy of her mother! I posted a picture of her in my gallery a few weeks ago.

I guess that's all I have time for. Love and hugs to all of you.

Anne, I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. My dad had dementia but he also was totally immobile. We did a lot of lifting and feeding. It's a rough road but worth it to be with him.

We got 4" of snow overnight. DH only shoveled what was needed. The rest will take care of itself.

Morning!

Anne, I am so sorry to hear about your dear DH. Prayers for you and him during this hard time in your lives.

My MIL had Alzheimer's and it was so hard to see her go down and what she could not do. She too didn't eat much. Now my SIL has the disease, she is just 69 years old, married to my youngest brother. Her middle sister had it also but not her oldest sister. Strange how it hits some in the family and not others. Her oldest sister is 90 years old and sharp as can be!

Kathy, snow is coming here too for Thursday but not as much as your received. Most of the snow from our two big storms has melted away.

I'm off to get some scanning of bills done, my desk is looking a mess! Yes, I scan everything!

Have a good day everyone!

Anne, sometimes I wonder if every family at some point will have Alzheimer's or some form of dementia in their medical history. Sometimes I feel a bit doomed with my Mom and her older brother. My Mom struggled with eating more and more, things just didn't taste good to her. It was really bad toward the end. The only things that tasted good to her were sweets. I think the brain can't recognize taste at some point. I'm sorry for what you are going through. Brava to you for getting him out of the house. Sometimes it would take longer to get Mom ready and into the car than it took to have a meal or a doctor appointment.
Kathy, pretty snow photos. I think it's easy for us to get lulled into thinking winter is over in Wisconsin. Nope, not by a long shot, although nothing much in the forecast in the short term.
Linda, I'm sorry about your aunt. Safe travels.

Beautiful photos, Kathy. We do not have any snow here. I thought more winter stuff was in the forecast but we have been having warmer weather for February. Very strange. Thus is usually a very cold month with yucky weather.

It is difficult caring for anyone with long term illness. Many things are in my genes and Dementia is one of those. It didn't hit my mother, her siblings, or parents, but she had a few cousins who had it and were placed in a home. My father's side had a few cases. His father had Hardening of the Arteries, which was very much Dementia, and his sister had it as well. They both were placed in a home and didn't remember anything or anyone current. My uncle visited my aunt and she always called him the nice man. She never remembered he was her husband. He was her second husband and I always wondered if she remembered the first one.

Anne, glad you are able to keep your husband home safe with you. So nice that you had a time to get away and do something for yourself.

Good morning! Lovely to see so much chat on here this morning. I have board meeting tonight - unless it gets cancelled. Here's hoping!

Gracie, I'm so glad you wrote out your concerns/issues with your process and that you have heard back from so many different areas. Hopefully, that will result in improvements for future patients. It can be so frustrating dealing with medical things. Having worked at a hospital in the past, it can be frustrating from the hospital side too.

Lisa, I looked up the Southampton Skellys. Very fun, thank you.

Jean, my daughter is probably a junior at this point. She had started college and then the pandemic happened which caused her to drop out of college as online learning doesn't work for her. I think they are experiencing a housing shortage because they have not only their regular students who would attend post high school, but they also have others like my daughter, who are resuming their college path and the school isn't ready to handle that expanded student body. She is hoping to get into the housing the college has for 23-29 year olds which would be even more like apartment living - but with two roommates. Everyone would have their own bedroom and bathroom but share living areas like the kitchen and living room.

Personally, I love Reba which is why I looked up her singing the national anthem. But yes, she is definitely going to noodle because that is how she sings. I do agree with you, that they should just sing the national anthem and not turn it into a performance. Coincidentally, DD1 just sang the national anthem before some sporting event. She sang it, acapella, with two others and they had wonderful harmonies.

Linda, I'm sorry for the loss of your aunt.

Anne, I'm so sorry about your DH and thankful that you got out to treat yourself. That is so needed for caregivers. It is also so good that you get him out weekly, I'm sure that is quite the process to accomplish.

Kathy, beautiful snow photos. So pretty!

Oops, there goes my alarm. Chat with you later!
