Reason: After thoughts.
Kandie, I play with cereal box/cracker box, etc. chipboard a lot. All my ink storage, etc. and a lot of my boxes are done in chipboard, because it's so much stronger than cardstock.
Melody, what do you use to cut your chipboard? I have the extra-heavy-duty Fiskars cutter but almost not enough strength to use it, and xacto knives make me nervous..

Kandie, most of the time I use a Tonic 12" guillotine cutter. But I've also used my Fiskars with the little sliding blade. Another option is a thick quilting ruler and rotary cutter. The box chipboard is fairly thin, so when I'm building storage, I will glue 2 or 3 (or more) thicknesses together, but almost always cut it first. I'm not a big fan of x-acto knives for straight cutting, because I almost always move the straight edge and end up with a crooked cut.
Good evening. I wanted to post this before heading for bed because I’ve forgotten it several days in a row already. I watched a video about making tags, and the basis of making a sturdy tag was to cover an existing tag with pretty papers, ie tags from clothes, packages of any kind like Tim Holtz stuff, etc. It took me a bit to remember not to automatically throw tags in the trash, but then I got the hang of it. Just put the existing tag on paper and draw around it, cut out and glue on, punch hole or decorate or whatever you want, bingo, a nice sturdy tag for ephemera!

Thanks for the tip Kandie. I like to use clothes tags in my journals and cover them with gesso. They add a lot of texture. I also saw a video where a lady used clothes tags to die cut embellishments. I used my TH ones recently for cutting flowers..so cool. Thanks again. I love all of these tips.

Hi Kandie: Great ‘craft’ minds think alike.
I often save cute clothing tags for my stash to use in my projects.
Thanks for the reminder to use them as templates for a different size tag, too.

I had a box full of clothes tags, but I'm not sure if I still have it in my mess. I may have tossed them. My thoughts were to use them on a quilt - like many things, that never happened. But they would make a great embellishment on paper crafty things, too.
Good morning! I have tags all over my craft table. DH said I must be doing a lot of shopping to have acquired so many tags lately, lol.
Once a year my favorite clothes, which I wear over and over, start to wear out a bit, and so I go shopping and get some new t-shirts, and some of the wider leg athletic pants (yoga pants they are called now) to wear, because jeans chafe my legs where I have the psoriasis, and that’s hat I did a week or so ago and got tags. But I accidentally also bought a spring purse (very lightweight) and some white tennies while I was out. Accidentally. You know.

Kandie: Your Easter Journal pages are
totally awesome and your cover bunny is so sweet.

my crafting uniform is Soma PJ’s......lol

Kandie what gorgeous journals, so beautiful.
well I dress for comfort too, I have lots of pairs of jeans but very rarely wear them here as in a month or so it will be too hot,
Kandie- so love your Easter journal!!! What gorgeous vintage images & tags too!!!
Jan- oh to be too warm for jeans! It is a beautiful day here 50F (10 C) and I bet there are people that will go out in shorts!
Just back from taking my DD1 for a pedicure, she traded in her lease car for a brand new car, so she drove. She stopped at the grocery store with me, and I ran into a friend- mom of 7 boys.... no mother daughter pedicure dates for her : ) hope she has some granddaughters!!!
Shelly we always know the tourists, they wear shorts in winter, even on a really warm day in winter a Spanish person would still wear jeans , boots and a big coat, even I wouldn’t now
well having two sons and three GSs I never had a girly day out until we came to SF to visit , I now get to go with our DIL, she laughs as they always ask how her mum is when she goes on her own , she says she knows they mean me as her parents haven’t been over for years, Steve’s best friend at school had nine brothers, can you imagine!
OMG- that poor mom.... or how lucky to have 9 sons...not sure which. Hope she is blessed with 9 DIL's and lots of pink in her life with granddaughters!
My DD1 and I get along great on texts- clash alot otherwise.... too much alike!
I had fun today- made a pair of Art Journal pages to add to my bird Art Journal pages Spring is Here
Fun videos and a great challenge Suz. I may try another- want my pages to look more Mi=xed Media and less cute.....!
Shelly his Mum always looked worm out and the house was threadbare, his dad wasn’t very good to her, drank a lot, the last we heard she left their dad when the boys were older, I hope she had a happier life. Steve’s mum and dad always took Ray on holiday with them as he was like one of the family, funnily he married one of my friends from school, we still send Christmas cards to each other but have never seen them for fifty years.
Jan- we can never tell from the outside what happens on the inside of a home, can we??? Even when one has a perfect looking family : ) And, each child has his/her own perspective of their family life..... LOL
Marjie Kemper had an Art Journal class online- Jayne already posted her pages, and I am finally getting mine posted too! Pages 1-2-3
When I was caregiving for my mother, a friend and I started taking walks and bird watching. She was caregiving for her husband- who had a heart issue, and he has also since passed. So, I found this sheet of bird images and they make me think of her (Patty) and her journey with her husband.
Now, I just love to see all of the different birds in our yard- they have always been there, just did not look or see them before : )
I came across a bird-watching book at a sale that I was going to use for mixed media, but instead have it sitting on an end table in the living room. We get all kinds of birds in the hedges by the front porch, maybe I can turn into a bird watcher this year.

Kandie- it is amazing when you do look and pay attention what birds are in your yard already : ) I put the Merlin app on my phone, when you take a picture or pick one already on your phone, it helps you identify it. I also have an app called Ebird where I can record a song and it tells me what bird it is.
So, the art Journal I posted was made for a class with Marjie Kemoer that I told Jayne about, and in the midst of all of the crazy doc appts and tests, she finished hers...and posted pictures here already. SO, I decided I had better get the lead out..and get busy and finish my pages ! I seem to be able to do art journaling and not buy too much new stuff..... but not with stamping- that's a whole other story!
Kandie- I think Journal Queen is a title relegated for you!
Kandie, your Easter journal is absolutely gorgeous and the recipient is going to love it. I know I would LOL. You definitely are the journal queen.
Shelly, love your art journal pages you did for the class. I have been doing another online class today and will try that out later this week.
I've been busy posting some of my March theme cards. I went to upload one and I was typing the description and thought wait...where's the embellishment gone LOL. It must have fallen off so I will have to find it, glue it back on and take another photo tomorrow as it's so dark here with the rain. I still haven't finished my last March theme card. Every time I go to make it I can't think and now have another idea LOL. As you do.
I must also check out the MMJ challenge and see who is next up. Hope it's not me LOL. My head isn't in gear. Have fun getting messy ladies.

jayne great challenge for March, but that first video was enabling me to want those waxes! Not going to buy then though, LOL. I will stick to the wax paper. I have that. LOL
Hello all, long time, no chat. I am not a chat-ter. Don't use the phone much. But I do read what is going on here and think about you all.
I'm behind two challenges now. Gahhhhh. I'll catch up.
Journals are looking beautiful, Shelly and Kandie.
I have a daughter and son and get along famously with both. They're very different but they get along well too. And I have a daughter in law who I have considered a daughter ever since they met in high school. I am lucky.
Just had a weekend with my grand twirly girlies. They are pretty special if I do say so myself. I did school with them on Monday....O....M....G! I was exhausted mentally. School was fine, it was all the other stuff...snacks, keeping them on schedule, distractions. I'd need more structure if I was to do it long term. But they thrive on little structure, I guess. They do good school work, I will say.
Take care, you all, thinking of you.
