waving.. August has been so busy, and hot here.
Wednesday night we went to an outdoor theater to see Boeing Boeing. It was quite good and funny, although it was rather cold out - low 50's. I should have taken my winter coat. I did have a warm blanket that DH & I shared over our chairs, which helped. Fall is coming, although it's supposed to get back up in the 90's this weekend. It's been years since we've been to an outdoor theater.
Today I made 2 more loaves of blueberry-zucchini bread. They are so good. I've been freezing them and have given a lot away.
Good morning! It is drizzly and overcast here this morning. Our forecast high is only 68 degrees today. Good temps for house cleaning! DD2 has today off and is still sleeping in. Our guest is still here as well, not sure when she is heading out to work today.
DD1 is very excited because the elite choir is doing an international tour this academic year. The last time they went to Italy though it has been a few years since that happened. She doesn't know where they are going yet, the professor doesn't want to give any details until it is nailed down. So another passport renewal is needed. She does know it will actually be at the end of the school year.
It is hard to believe that it is already September!
Melody, the name of the play you saw reminded me of someone we met in Southern California. When we asked him where he worked he said he worked for the spring company...Boeing Boeing! He was a character. Glad you had the blanket with you! I'd rather be too cold than too hot.
Good morning off to have my Mammogram. I went last Friday, and was a week early! LOL I think I have it right now!
We spent the day at a nearby friends' home. Went on a pontoon ride, grilled out and ate lots of snacks. Fun day!
Jean, hope your Dr. appt. went well. Kathy, how is the swelling? Hopefully, it has lessened.
Melody, that blueberry zucchini bread sounds wonderful! I love blueberries and zucchini!
Kandie, Noella looks like such a sweet little dog!
Catherine, I can't believe it's September either! I hope you get your housework done quickly so that you can have some free time to do whatever you'd like! Hopefully, your temporary guest will find a place to stay soon.

The swelling continues but yesterday it wasn't as bad and today it is worse!
Gracie, at my 2 week appt. with the back doctor I was hours early! I kept thinking it was 9:30 even though I had 1:30 on my calendar! So we went home and then back down! I was frustrated with myself because I had it right on the calendar!!
I remember asking just a few days ago (it seems like) when the retirement complex would be having its annual picnic. September, I was told. Suddenly, it’s September.
Fifties at night, 80s during the day. If the allergies weren’t so bad it would be perfect weather.

Yes, it's crazy how fast time the time goes! We have 4 camping trips planned when we get back to Payson the end of September. It will be Christmas before we know it. I told DH that he needs to stop working so hard and enjoy life as we are not getting any younger! So he gives me his credit card and I make the plans! YAY!

Hi everyone! We've enjoyed a couple of days of rain but I think we are at the end of it. It has been a lovely break though.
I just made and posted my monochromatic card, now on to the new challenges.
Gracie, wow, it is already almost time for you to head back to AZ. That went fast! And you already have four camping trips planned? Wow, you guys sure keep busy.
Kathy, praying for the swelling to go away. LOL at your DH too.
The swelling is now going to the right leg and foot. I'm hoping to wait it out until doctors office is open Tuesday and then call to see what he says. I'm so sick of this!

Gracie- you are going to be having so much fun in September and October! I tell my husband the same thing- all work and no play makes Ray a busy and dull boy..... his free time is spent playing baseball and still working on Diane's estate..... Someone wants to rent the house in Mexico for 6 mos beginning in November, so he feels he will not want to go down to Mexico until next year maybe May!

Hi everyone! I slept in and then hit the ground running taking care of laundry and the dishwasher etc. I just realized I forgot to check in here.
Yesterday, DD2 was off work and we enjoyed spending most of the day just hanging out. Today she is at work and DH is diligently working on the front porch as it is past time to resurface it. It has been painted and I wanted to finish it with a stain seal type product which means stripping the paint off the porch first. He already found that the two posts are two different kinds of wood so that will be challenging to stain! We think this house was constructed with leftovers from other jobs as most things don't match.
I need to get busy crafting. I have a craft fair in two weeks that I need to be ready for.
Kathy, I hope they found an open bed for you and even more, some answers. Praying!
Shelly, rain is always welcomed by my family. We are pluviophiles.
Playing baseball seems to be Ray's hobby. I hope the rental goes well with the house in Mexico.
6 hours in the ER. All tests were good. Dr. said it's edema. I'm retaining fluids. Don't know why it's so painful. But I need to wear the teds again and I'm going to take a water pill. He said my feet actually don't look bad at all. But my blood pressure was 168/95. I usually run low but it was high on august 14 when I first saw my PCP about the legs.
Kathy, I wondered about edema. My stepsister had the same issue. Actually, she had it a lot. And Ed did too when he got sick. Did the doctors offer any advice on medication that might help with the fluid retention?
Even with taking the Emgality migraine injections I’m still having headaches. I couldn’t afford the backup headache pills ($850 copay!!!) and was told not to take Tylenol more than twice a week or there would be rebound headaches, which I don’t understand. Yesterday was a bad one, nausea and all that, but it did finally go away.
Our weather is affecting so many people. Allergies are terrible this year. The 90 degree weather with 95% humidity makes it miserable to go out.
Well, I changed my ledge today. The playroom is packed and put away. Now the two Adult dolls are playing two-player Euchre because I don’t have the other two ready yet. They are in the dining room, the table centerpiece has been moved to a chair. He has a good hand in spades and is motioning her to pick up the card as she dealt the hand. I wonder if anyone here will get it. . .

Thank you, Ann. It took me a very long time to collect all the little things for the hutch. I made the table centerpiece and mat. So many of these miniature accessories come from everywhere but the U.S. Right now I have living room end tables coming from Poland, the hutch and table set came from the Ukraine. The price is reasonable; it’s the shipping that gets me. And the time for the little items to clear customs and get to the US.
I think I have a photo of just the hutch. I want to show you the tiny glass sets that look like pink Depression glass.
For some reason, the phone photos always upload sideways. Sorry about that.

Hello and happy day after Labor Day. I went to a Labor Day parade yesterday, never been to one. It is dubbed the candy parade because that's the main feature. Different labor groups with their banners, trucks, etc throw candy at the kids. It's like Halloween without having to walk so far. Crazy.
I'm waiting to get a text that will tell me what time to go to the hospital tomorrow to deal with this stone of mine. It's a procedure, not a surgery, no incision, but I will be put completely under. I haven't been completely under for anything since childhood. Life is an adventure, not always an adventure of our choosing.
House progress has stopped because of the heat. I thought Scott would be here today to start wrapping the house, haven't seen or heard from him yet. Hmmmmm. It was cloudy earlier. I'm working on my patience.
I took Mirren out for dinner last night, for her 10th birthday tomorrow. That has become a tradition. She chose Olive Garden, it was fine except they got my dinner wrong so had to start over. Good thing is I got it for free. MIrren didn't order a lot and didn't eat much. She drank a lot of lemonade and played games on the little screen on the table. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table, it was bonkers there. But we played alphabet games while waiting, it went fast. She is an entertaining young lady, never stops talking, has to be doing something. Opposite of her grandma.
Kandie, I love your displays. Good thing the pieces are little, i'm sure you don't have a ton of storage.
Kathy, yes, edema sounds right. Seems like it's common after surgery. I know people who have struggled with edema because of breast cancer surgery, always have to wear a sleeve, flying isn't comfortable. I hope it improves quickly.
Catherine, that rhythm test makes sense. I never had an opportunity to travel with a college group, that sounds excellent.
Hello to everyone else, I'm sure I missed commenting on important stuff. Oh Gracie already going back this month? Wow, I would want to stay a bit for more fall colors. I know they're starting already, partly because of the drought.

Good morning! I had a lovely day off yesterday, only a few house chores and then spent some time making cards. I participated in both of yesterday's challenges, something I haven't done for a while. I am busy getting ready for a craft fair in two weeks (really the only one I ever do). DD2 is going to be there to help me with it, usually DD1 does it. I already have my change ready because I bought DD1's tip money so I wouldn't have to go to the bank!
Last evening, Bambi and her mom and sibling came by and we all saw them. I'll share a couple of photos (if I remember to attach them!)
I learned new things reading the chat. I hadn't known the actual definition of edema and had never heard of Euchre.
Kathy, praying the teds and the water pill help, and that your blood pressure gets back to normal.

Jean, are they doing a lithotripsy on your stone? Whatever it is, I'm praying it works. And hoping the work on your house resumes soon.
I was fortunate to get to travel to Hawaii with the community college choir my first year of college. We only went to Oahu but it was a lot of fun and quite the adventure for me.
Poor DH is suffering with a terrible headache this morning. He is back in bed trying to sleep it away.
Here are the photos of the deer. In the second one, the youngest is reaching up to mom. So cute!
Oh dear! I totally forgot about the teds until Judy mentioned it! I took the water pill this morning but I had already seen a decrease in the swelling from the exercises I was doing. I still had quite a bit of pain, so I used pain meds and had a much better day. Went to Walmart but my sandals were not the best. But I didn't want to wear my sneakers. My feet were swollen bad yesterday. But the ER doc said they were not bad at all. He said he has seen much worse. So I count myself lucky. But sitting six hours in the ER didn't help. DH has been massaging my legs and feet about a half hour each day. The left foot is a bit touchy but the right is so much better! I think I just felt better knowing here wasn't infection. They did an EKG, chest x-ray and labs. Said my heart is good and so was kidney function. Tomorrow no will put the teds on, if I remember. This weekend is ladies retreat! We are trying a different cottage. This one has a bathroom downstairs. Most of the ladies are my age and older. It's a smaller cottage so we can't spread out like usual, but we also have a few that may not come. We will have our card class on Saturday like we've been doing for the past few years. I'm just hoping I don't forget anything because we won't be at my demos house and can't just grab stuff from her stash.
Kathy so pleased you are improving, Steve takes a diuretic every morning since his triple bypass, we never knew why but just reading there’s problems after surgery maybe that’s why, that’s almost twelve years ago and he often thinks he should ask why he still has to take it but them he decides while he’s feeling good better leave well alone.
Jean I hope your procedure goes well and your stone is dealt with, I can sympathise with Scott not working in the heat, we have so many jobs to do but they will have to wait until we come home as it’s just too hot to do much, we had the alarm man here to service it and had to move the sofa, mats and other bits of furniture, we were just so hot moving it all so he could get to the box.
we had rain, unfortunately just after Steve finished cleaning the pool, red rain so now he is just going out to do it again as the bottom is full of sand, two days running we’ve had to sweep and mop, very humid too, 85% last night, although we managed without the aircon asSteve has had a sore throat again.
Busy packing and running around preparing for our trip, busy ticking jobs off our long list, collecting Steve’s meds tomorrow and the car is having its satnav updated so we will have to pass a couple of hours but we are hoping to meet our friends for breakfast.

Kandie- so sorry about your headaches! When my neck was bad- doc gave me migrane pills- they did not cost me anything.... they did not help me, so another nurse I worked with had migranes, and that was the med she took- I said- here- have these. She was so excited- paid about $200 a pill!
I love your display- I have my parents pink depression chrystal- from Japan. So sweet to see this, and the pictures on the wall, table display- and love playing Euchre!
Kathy- hope the meds help the edema! Hope the exercises, compression socks and pills help you! Enjoy the womans retreat! I am sure your cards will be lovely!
Jean- Oh how sweet to have those special moments with your granddaughters! They will be such sweet memories for the girls. Keeping you in prayers for a good outcome with surgery, removing your rock and all that goes with it.

Jan- maybe question the diuretic? Usually after heart surgery, folks gain lots of weight- 25 or more! They get put on a fluid restriction and diuretics , usually until they get to the weight they were prior to surgery.
Your weather and high humidity sounds awful!
Gracie- the summer flew by! Bet it is surreal it is almost time to go back to Arizona!
I had an appt with a speech Physical therapist today- I have an issue with vocal chords, and have to learn to not use neck muscles-especially with higher tones. (Singing). The muscles inside throat behind vocal chords...... Routine cardiology appt tomorrow, he follows my blood pressure and cholesterol. Two parents with cholesterol issues- family history is one thing I cannot change!

Good morning! I'm running behind this morning as I didn't want to get up when the alarm went off. DH had a terrible headache yesterday so he didn't get much done. I think it was because he didn't drink enough water on Monday when he was working on the front porch and changing the oil in the Camry. I usually remind him when he is working on a project or just bring him water to drink, but I failed to do that on Monday.
Kathy, glad to hear you are doing better. Did you remember the teds today? Can you put them on by yourself? I've heard they are a challenge to get on. By the way, where did you find the rice paper for today's tutorial?
Jan, yuck to that humidity! Good luck getting all the last minute things done to be ready for your trip!
Shelly, we don't have any flowers for the deer to eat! They are kind of why we don't though. DD2 did develop a plan for the front to plant a number of things out there that are supposedly not tempting to the deer but I am skeptical about it because my brother and SIL have planted many things the deer supposedly don't eat, only to have them eaten! I do know they don't eat St. John's Wort which has lovely yellow flowers. Come to think of it, they don't eat daffodils either. Maybe they don't like yellow!
Your speech physical therapy session sounds interesting, I'd love to hear more about that!

I've been on cholesterol meds since 2000. Also on omega 3 fish oil for triglycerides. At one time they were 1154 and supposed to be under 200. Talk about family history! Dad had a stroke at age 43 and was disabled from then until he passed last year. He also had a heart attack around 2000.
Catherine, I forgot the teds again and DH isn't home to help get them on and I can't get them on myself. Not just because they're so tight but also I don't have full flexibility yet for bending.
As for the stuff I used in today's tutorial, it was old and in my stash from years ago. I'm not sure where I got it but I'm guessing probably at Nora's. She has since passed away but a granddaughter and her husband now run the store. They have moved it out of the house and into a building next to the barn. The husband has a company called the boltman and my DH goes along and he can shop in his hardware shop well I look through craft stuff! The craft store now goes by the name creative hobby.
Our garden is a mess this year. DH spent so much time caring for me after surgery and wasn't as careful with his garden as he was in previous years. I had him pick a basket of tomatoes today and I made homemade spaghetti sauce, which we had for lunch today. It really turned out good!
Yesterday was another bad day. On top of the Emgality migraine injection, which is monthly, I took Zyrtec-D, Robitussin-DM for coughing, and two-Advil with 1-Tylenol. Nothing helped. Cough cough cough and headache all day. Today’s weather outlook is cooler, only low 70s, but the allergy count is still high. My friends here think I’m antisocial. I’ve missed the 2:30 coffee klatch almost every day and Bingo three weeks in a row!
My brother in Chandler, Arizona tells me the weather was 110 without the heat index! He rides his motorcycle around 4 AM and in the evening when the sun is going down.

Good morning! It is an early morning for me as we are headed over an hour away to attend the graveside service for our friend who recently passed away. Then from there, to work. So a quick check in too.
Kathy, that is smart of the couple to have a hardware store right there so that if someone's DH comes along with them to the craft store, they can browse the hardware! And yum to homemade spaghetti sauce.
I hope the swelling is better even if you didn't have the teds on.

Sorry you are dealing with so many weather related allergy issues. The hours your brother is keeping due to heat are similar to what the people in the Palm Springs area do if they stay there in the summer.
