Reminder!!

This week's letter is A and the color is avocado!!

Keywords: ABC19A1, ABC19 and your personal keyword!!

What are the colors of an avocado? Ripe avocados will have a skin color that is dark green to nearly black. Sometimes a purplish color too. Acocado green is a mixture of yellow and green!

Hope this helps all of you! Have fun!

Good morning! I found the new thread - yay! I stayed up too late last night and made a card for our featured stamper, Kathy! It was hard to choose.

A color round, that is fun. I scrolled through the list and had to google some of the colors such as xanadu. I didn't know that was a color! I think of the Olivia Newton John song by that title when I hear Xanadu.

It is currently raining here. Yesterday was all muggy and then the drizzle came and gave us some relief, thankfully. I wish we'd get enough rain to clean the pollen off of our solar panels!

I hope everyone is doing well, I think I'll go check out some cards and do some commenting.

Thank you Ann and Liz!

Fun to do a color round!

Catherine we have had a long stretch of no rain. Now the weekend is 30% chance of rain and I sure hope the garage sale will not get cancelled for the 11th. It is put on by Country Lane, our local stamp store. Always a fun one.
We are supposed to get high temps of 35+ for the next 3 days.

Our 3rd season of Blue Bloods is ready for pick up at the library. We are really enjoying it.

Jean what will be your new address?

Hugs to all,
Shirl

Just got out of the shower. Boy did that feel good. I have my two week appointment tomorrow morning. My hope is to ditch the ted stockings and gauze. DH says the gauze is dry with nothing on them.

Yay, Kathy, a shower! Hope you're feeling much better! Hugs

Hi Shelly, glad to see you pop in.

Shirt, my husband loves watching Blue Bloods. I got tired of it after a couple of seasons...I'm not a big TV "watcher" anyway.

Good Wednesday morning! We are as dry as a bone here, possibly a little rain here. I was in Brookfield having breakfast with friends, it rained there but I couldn't tell if we got rain at my house. Up north has a frost warning until tomorrow morning, big swings in temperature, they have a mosquito infestation like none other and they are at moderate fire risk. Most of the state is at high risk.
I'm really struggling with an issue in this village and I may not be sorry to leave. The village trustees have started to defund the library and are apparently thinking of doing on audit on the books. Some 'anonymous' citizens are concerned about some books. Sound familiar? I have an issue with the anony- mous part. If you feel that strongly, you need to own it and name yourself. I understand the atmosphere in this country creates nervousness about owning an opinion but this is a big deal. Three library board members were suddenly removed without discussion or vote. One was our superintendent of schools and it's law that the schools are represented on the library board and it must be someone in authority, not a school board member. I'm hearing that this is a common theme in our country. My grandfather, Walter H. Meyer, was an attorney and on the library board for almost 20 years. He was village clerk when the original library was built in 1929. It is still standing but now renovated for a restaurant. This village has a history of tearing down old and building large monstrosities so I'm very relieved that building survived. I am the last Meyer in Menomonee Falls, been here since 1925 or so. One of our trustees supposedly said something to the effect that 'Menomonee Falls is an affluent community and we can afford to buy books.' This village was a lily white, working class community when I grew up, yes there is more 'affluence' but there is also more diversity and some marginalized folks. I am not affluent, never have been, although I'm affluent compared to many and I don't buy many books. I would if I could but I don't. So there is talk of closing the library even though the trustees claim they have not said that. As someone said, their hands got caught in the cookie jar and now they're denying that. Our school system was cutting edge, especially the music department, and we are no longer. Libraries are so much more than books. Thanks for listening.
Shelly, I'm assuming you're staying put for a bit.
Yay, Gracie, for being back. do your grands visit you in AZ?
Shirl, are you safe from fires?
Have a great day, everyone.

Morning all!

We got a 5 minute rain shower yesterday, it was pretty heavy for a bit, not enough though, the grass is crispy in parts!

Gracie, so happy to read you are back in Wisconsin safely! Love your first card of this round, so darn cute!

Kathy, wow, that you are already up and about and a shower, how fantastic. I hope the pain is leaving you soon. Rest up dear lady!

Smoke from Canada doesn't seem to be as bad today, skies are blue!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! It is an early one for me as work today is an off site meeting from 9:30-5 pm. Ugh! I'm definitely stopping at DD1's store for some coffee fortification! We had rain and drizzles yesterday. Not enough rain to wash off the solar panels, though. But it is lovely and cool outside and I am thankful. Windows open and can stay that way all day.

I keep staying after work to help DD2 with VBS decor painting. Yesterday I couldn't stay as long because I needed to purchase gas and get home for DH to drive down for a meeting. Well, I got gas and started home and the freeway was a parking lot. I called DD1 and asked her to investigate to see if she could determine the cause and I got off the freeway. It was a multi-car crash, praying no one was seriously injured. Since I couldn't make it home in time, he drove the Camry down and I turned around to go back and help DD2 some more, then we had dinner and went home. I did drive by the remnants of the crash, CHP were still there and they were loading the last vehicle onto a tow truck. It was a white pick up truck. DD1 has a particular bias against white pick up trucks because she feels like they drive more obnoxiously than other pick up trucks. She's encountered a lot of obnoxious ones anyway so I was sure to tell her it was a white pick up! (She probably thinks they caused the accident now.)

I have not been looking forward to an all day meeting and DD2 said to me, "Choose joy, Mom!" I love it when they give my words back to me. Actually, I sincerely do because that means they have ingrained that concept into their lives and choosing joy is a good one to have.

Shirl, I hope the stamp sale is able to happen. I love Blue Bloods! I have watched the entire series, I think.

Kathy, ah, yes, the refreshing feeling of a shower. I'm sure that felt wonderful! Glad you are healing so well, hope you are able to ditch the ted stockings and gauze.

Welcome back, Shelly! You are always on the go!

Gracie, I get sucked into series if I connect with the characters. I'm the same way with book series. Authors were sure smart to start writing book series!

Jean, I'm sorry to hear about the library issue. Even if I can afford to buy books, there are many that I want to read but don't want to own. Most of my reading for entertainment falls into that category and I have always been a faithful library user until 2020 when they shut down. I haven't really gotten in the habit of going to the library since they re-opened. I will request a particular book if I come across one I want to read but most of my reading is now done on my Kindle app. I much prefer an actual book though. Making sweeping statements about a community being affluent is ridiculous, I'm sure the spectrum of income levels is there.

Goodness, is Wisconsin not all green like it usually is? I can't imagine that! Ann, you have grass that is crispy in places? Yikes!

Good morning. We got a good soaking yesterday. Mark got a bit wet out on his bike. His brother was going to come and mow the lawn in the afternoon, but Mark called him and said it was raining, so the plan is now Thursday. As it turned out, even though we got a good heavy rain, by afternoon it had dried, so he could have mowed. Mark & I had to go out and dig out the cover for the septic - clean and inspection some time today.

Jean, that is so sad about your library. Ridiculous thinking about buying books. What a snobby idea. Not everyone can afford to buy them (I certainly can't), and why would I? I don't plan on rereading a book over and over. And even paperbacks are not cheap. So every 2-3 weeks, I go pick up 5 or 6 books to read. And when I'm finished with them, I take them back so someone else can enjoy them, etc., etc.

Catherine, we've had plenty of rain and also some very hot days, so my area is very lush and green. Thankfully, today is only about 70. Yay!

It is extremely hazy and smells like smoke out today! We are staying inside today. My appt went well. She said that some people notice a difference in the first two weeks and others it could take 6 weeks or longer. They trimmed my sutures and removed the steri strips. Also they told me I could have taken the gauze off after day 4 and showered without any Band-Aids but of course different people at the hospital told me different things. I'm to keep wearing the Ted stockings. I'm actually a little sleepy so it may be nap time. My sister took Mom shopping today. She's been trying to get her to go but this is the first she's been out since before my surgery.

Yes, we are safe from the fires. It is the worst ever that B.C. has had though and Nova Scotia in the east was awful. Lots of people lost entire homes.

Jean closing a library? Say it isn't so. I have always loved libraries. It was love at first sight when we went on a field trip in grade 3 to a library. I had never been in one before and have never been out of one since, lol.
Melody that is a good one by Einstein! Love it!

I think the garage sale on Sunday will be a go. Now they are saying only a bit of rain on Friday.

Kathy, I remember the joy of stepping into a shower not too long ago, when we had been without hot water for a few days. It feels so good!

Going to walk to mail my teapotter card before it gets too hot.

Gracie glad you arrived safely. But now you have lots of work to do!

Shelly I hope you can enjoy some slow times now!

Just back from a walk to post my card and wait for it, to the library to return 2 magazines, lol.....It is plenty warm already. There was also faint smell of smoke in the air and it is quite hazy by the mountains, as in- you can't see them.

My bil is coming over from Victoria today and he just texted he is taking us out to dinner! YAY!

Had a pretty good day today! I never laid down for a nap but I did doze off in my rocker recliner. It's the first time I've been able to sit in it. When I first got home I tried but it was too soft and moved too much when I tried to get out of it.

Good morning! I survived, yay! (The 7.5 hour meeting yesterday is what I'm talking about.) The morning was a snooze fest as they reviewed, in detail, what our previous 2 day long meetings covered. That was necessary as one of us was not there but, for me, I had a hard time staying awake and engaged - even after all the coffee! I stopped at DD1's store and got a cup on the way and had that to sip on during the early part of the meeting.

I got to see my SIL as we were meeting in a conference room where she works and I had lunch with DH as he was in the building too. My SIL only works there for a few more weeks, she is retiring the end of this month.

I didn't stay and help with VBS work but DH was there working on the lunar lander. That is quite the project.

Yes, Melody, that is another good point. My reading for entertainment are books that I don't intend to read again so why would I want to purchase them? The library has always been such a blessing, my mom got me started going there before I started school. I loved it so much, I even volunteered at the library which was in a cool building in my home town. Very fun to "work" there.

And I definitely agree with the Einstein quote.

Glad to hear your area is lush and green as Wisconsin is in my mind and memory.

Yay for the no gauze, Kathy. Sorry you got conflicting reports of what to do, that does seem to happen and sorry you didn't get rid of the ted stockings.

Shirl, I have fond memories of Victoria. We used to go up there sometimes to visit and that is also where DH and I took our honeymoon. On our honeymoon, someone asked us what brought us to Victoria and we told them and they said that meant we were going to move there at some point. It hasn't happened yet, but it is so pretty up there!

Kathy, I remember having trouble sitting in a lot of our furniture when I got home from having DD1. The problem was that most of our furniture was too low to the ground and both of my girls were c-sections ultimately. We had one wingback chair that I could sit in without trouble. Glad you can sit in your rocker/recliner now!

Glad to hear your Dr. appt. went well Kathy! Well on the way to recovery and relief from that awful back pain! Take care of yourself. Hugs

We have lots of haze from the wildfires...I can't imagine how bad it is in Canada. It has really caused both me and DH a lot of sinus issues. I'd love to go kayaking, but I don't want to aggravate my sinuses. Too much sneezing and watery eyes as it is. It is pretty dry up where we live. Still lots of green, though.

Catherine, I HATE meetings where they go over stuff we already heard. So annoying! Repeat, repeat and so on. YUCK! Glad you weren't involved in that awful car accident.

Fun new round with color theme...we can be so creative, so it will be interesting to see all the wonderful cards and ideas. Thanks Ann and Liz.

I've already spent time with my mom 3 times in less than a week. She is doing OK for 90 years old. I know she's in pain a lot, but her mind is still pretty good. Some forgetfulness, but not unexpected. She still lives alone in her home...it's already been 7 years since Dad passed. Where does the time go. She misses him every day, but she is definitely a survivor!

Have a great day! I really need to get something done around here!

Good day, everyone.
Just had friends over for art as usual on Thursday. At some point, we will have to stop as I get more serious about packing and the table is full of boxes. They're happy I'm not leaving as soon as expected.
I love the cooler weather but as Ann said, the backyard grass is a little crispy. Melody, I guess you've had more rain than we have. Front lawn looks better than the back.
That Einstein quote is great. I feel like libraries are almost sacred places. Don't mess with the library!
'What do I do if I don't like a book at the library? Step 1. Check out a different book.
Kathy, glad you had a good check up. Too bad about the Teds.
My east coast relatives are really affected by the smoke. NYC looks like the apocalypse is about to happen. It's orange.
Meetings....can't stand them. I remember, when we went to Japan and were herded around like cattle, there were always meetings so we could be on the same page. And then there were meetings to discuss having meetings. Japanese like their meetings.
I hope the sale is successful, Shirl, but you sure could use the rain.
A lunar lander....holy cow. Pictures, please, when you can.

Good morning! I should be busy doing housework - get it done before the day warms up too much - but instead, here I am checking on SCS. Yesterday, DD2 didn't go down to the church to work on VBS stuff for the first time this week! It was because she had an early morning today - though it became a little less early. She was going to work this morning at 5 am but it got moved back to 6 am. She gets up an hour and forty minutes before she has to be at work, so 3:20 for 5 am. Does she need that much time to get physically ready? No, but that is how she likes to do it.

Right now, the lunar lander doesn't look like much but I'm sure it will be fabulous when it is done. DH will be working on that today after work.

We had our usual date night last night and the girls had their sister date night - though it was short because they both had early mornings.

They are resurfacing the roads in our neighborhood. The first sign they put up said it would be Wed-Fri from 7-5pm. The notices they hung on our door knobs said Thurs-Fri 8-5pm. I'm not sure what time they started but the Thurs/Fri was correct so that meant I only had to deal with them yesterday. They made it sound like we wouldn't be able to drive out of the neighborhood which concerned parents who needed to deliver and pick up kids for school. Yesterday they did one side of the roads and today they are working on the other. I'm not sure when they'll do the striping though. All that was different for me yesterday was driving the long way around the loop to get out of the neighborhood and that was just because of where they were when I left.

Gracie, so sorry you are dealing with sneezing and watery eyes and haze. Welcome to CA skies in summer time, known as fire time around here. I hope it clears up so you can enjoy the lake and kayaking. I also hate meetings that review but it really was necessary because our senior pastor was on sabbatical so missed the first time they taught us about this stuff. Thankfully, things got better later in the day.

We have a wonderful lady in our church who is 95 but you would never know it. She is so energetic and busy, right now she is a jet setter! She's recently been to Hawaii to visit family, last weekend she was in the Portland, OR area for someone's graduation and this weekend she is going to another graduation in the Pacific Northwest. She is also volunteering to help with VBS! She is amazing! I want to be like her when I grow up.

I'm sure your mom is so happy you are home for the summer, Gracie!

Jean, I'm glad you are still able to get some art in during this hectic time. And yes, I'll be sure to share pictures when everything is set up. I hope it is up to the vision in DD2's head!

OK, I'd better get to work, chat with you all later!

Yes, Jean we sure could use the rain, well, where the fires are at least. We are much cooler today and it is cloudy. Possible rain forecasted for Friday night, but I think that will be it for the weekend.

Kathy so nice to doze off in your recliner. Naps are great!

Catherine, SCS is certainly a distraction, not that that's a bad thing. Now that I'm feeling a bit more organized about packing (I hope that's not an illusion), I do want to create on and off, especially when I find something I forgot I had. Always love upcycling.
Another sunny day here. More of the state is in high risk for wild fires, including the two counties my family live in up north. They were at moderate earlier this week. I have friends who were in NYC to see Hamilton but apparently Broadway isn't open at the moment...or at least Hamilton isn't. This is their third time trying to see it in NYC...first was during the pandemic, second was changed because of a cruise they took and then the apocalypse of the smoke. I'm waiting for locusts or blood in the lake. Or frogs. We might get some rain tonight.
I'm going to a meeting at the library today to see what's going on. Or at least get another perspective.
Anyone heard from Kandie?
Shirl, hope you get that rain.
Gracie, I'm sure your Mom is glad to have you back. Are there other relatives close by when you're gone in the winter?
Have a great day.

Shirt, I hope you get some rain. The cool front and clouds have moved in here, too.

I did get out and go kayaking.Yay! The smoke has moved to the East. I sure hope it rains and helps with all the wildfires in Canada.

Catherine, housework is always at the bottom of my list. I agree with you that SCS can be a distraction...a fun one, but I do have to limit my time on the computer! Boy, that 95 year old jet setter sounds amazing. Even offering to help with VBS. I love that your daughters have a sister date night.

Jean, I've been wondering about Kandie, too. I'm glad you have a little time to play with some "found" goodies in your stash of crafts.

Yay, I found you.

I wasn't around much. My Son bought a House at the end of the last year. So he and we have plenty of work to do. It has a big garden, with lots of work, because the last owner was over 80 Years old and there was nothing done in the garden.

After 3 Years we went on holidays in May. Back home I had to stay in Hospital. I'm now slowly back to my normal life.

Hope you are all feeling well and healthy, if not sending get well wishes to you.
Have a great day, all. Sending Hugs.

Yes, we did get quite a bit of rain yesterday and supposed to be over by 5 p.m. tonight. It was a godsend for the fires up north and they averted winds too, which was great to hear. We have 70 some odd fires with about 29 that are out of control all in the province of B.C.

Dagmar good to hear from you and sorry you had a stint in the hospital.

hugs,

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is well and enjoying their Sunday. I am busy doing laundry but I got a card made. Now to take photos and post it. DD2 wanted cinnamon rolls so made a batch this morning...though she hasn't had any yet.

DD2 and DH are off to work on VBS this afternoon. DH is making progress on building the lunar lander. It didn't look like much when he was done on Friday, we'll see what it looks like tomorrow when I go to work. It is definitely a BIG project.

Shirl, I'm glad you got some rain....hope you were still able to attend the stamp sale though. It seems early for so many fires, any word on how they have started? We've had a few minor ones around here, nothing big...yet.

By the way, I don't consider SCS a bad distraction at all! I love popping out here and seeing what is happening with you all. I have also wondered about Kandie and how she is doing.

Jean, yay for feeling more organized about packing, Sorry to hear about the risk of fire danger in Wisconsin of all places!

Gracie, so glad you were able to go kayaking. Housework is low on my list as well but I'm trying to be more responsible about getting to it at least once a week.

Dagmar, glad you found us. Sorry you were in the hospital and thankful that you are doing better.

Shirl, glad you got some rain, which helped divert the winds-0p! We have a cool front and winds now.

Sorry to hear that you spent time in the hospital Dagmar...good to hear you're doing better.

Catherine, cinnamon rolls sound yummy! I try to do a little housework each day, very little, LOL. I did do laundry today. Can't wait to see VBS decor!

Morning!

Oh my that was hilarious, Kathy! Wonder how many items Catherine and her girls can relate too!
So happy your recovery is going well.

Shirl, so nice to hear from you and that your area received some much needed rain.

We got a little here but the grass is still brown in so many areas.

Off to get my day moving, I've been slow this morning and much to accomplish!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning, everyone! We continue to have cool, drizzly days here which is so strange for us, at least it feels strange. We are thankful though!

Oh my goodness, Kathy, that video was hilarious! Yes, Oriental Trading Company is one of the suppliers we use for stuff for VBS! And the comment about turning the AC off because they have the doors wide open?! I feel that almost every week when I get to church and they have the doors blocked open. We don't need to pay to air condition the outdoors! Must be the treasurer in me, LOL. DD2 is headed down to the church again today when she gets off work. Fortunately, I work there so I do get to see her but yes, she misses spending more time with her family....though some of us are right there with her helping. I'll be sure to share the video with DD2!

DH is struggling to create the lunar lander because the material isn't working like theirs. We don't know if what we have is thicker or what but we are trying to brainstorm alternate solutions to getting it done.

Gracie, I try to keep the kitchen clean daily so it never gets to be too big of a job and try to keep things picked up but for actual cleaning, I generally keep that to my day off from paid work. Fortunately, for the most part, my family isn't too messy so once a week for cleaning (other than the kitchen) works for the most part. Once in a while, at certain times of year, I come across some black kitty fur that has been left behind on the carpet, but not too often.

Ann, I could relate to so many of the items...and when I was 13, I was a volunteer to help with VBS.

Default Hi

Hello ladies!
Dagmar, Wishing you healing vibes and hope you are feeling mush better!
Shirl- we wish we would get some much needed rain! It is very dry here!
Catherine- yummy on cinnamon rolls : ) And, I look forward to your VBS pictures!
Cathy- that video was great! LOL
Linda- did you google Free SVG's??? There are sooo many free SVG's- just depends on what you are looking for!

I am taking another road trip over this weekend to Ohio- and added a couple of days in Cincinnati on the way down. Wednesday, I will go to dinner with a couple of ladies from the No. Ky area that are friends of my folks. I was down there so much, I got to know many of these people as well! Then, on to a letterbox event. I did not realize it was Father's Day weekend while I was gone. Katie may take Ray to a Cubs game : ) I bought him a bird feeder with a camera- we'll see if he will keep it! They look pretty cool.
When I get back, it will be about 10 days until Annette will be coming to town! I am so excited and looking forward to it! Oh, I need to clean my craft area! LOL
I worked on a couple of ATC's for a letterboxing exchange today- they call them LTC- Letterboxing trading cards. They have to have a carved stamp on them.
I worked on carving images to take with me. My nephew had kidney cancer about 10 years ago, and had to have a kidney removed. The family was involved in the dragonfly foundation- for families of pediatric cancer..... so I carved a dragonfly and a cancer ribbon with hope in the center to plant in Cincinnati while I am there. If I have time, I may carve a Make a Wish stamp as well...we will see.

Waving hello to all!
Shelly
