Hi, I'm here on the new thread. I don't understand the list. Do we have to put the toy item on our card or just put something on the card that starts with the letter of the week? Like week 5: Easy bake oven. Do we have to put some sort of oven on the card or say, make an easel card for E?
Wahoo- this list will be more thinking than last season, love the themes and a great fun inspirational list!
Thanks for the fun list!
Teri- let yourself get inspired by the ideas. So, for Easy Bake Oven, images of cooking or it makes me think of the little cakes my DD's would make in it.... or, the kids went thru a period of making gummies as well! LOL
Ann, you know that you will get questions on a lot of these. I think the key is to think out of the box, or non-literal. For instance, for rubber ducky, my first thought was a rubber band. LOL
Hi everyone! Happy post Thanksgiving day! We had a lovely time together just the three of us yesterday. DD2 and DH both helped me do all the cooking and it didn't seem like such a big deal with their help. It was lovely to just hang out together and not be rushed or anything.
DD1 is coming home today, it was our first holiday without having both girls there. I guess it is good practice for next year when she leaves for college.
Today, DD2 is busy working at Michaels - hopefully the customers are nice and patient - DH is outside working on the property and I've been cleaning the house and doing laundry. I vacuumed my house for the first time in many weeks - so nice! We heat with wood and that brings debris into the house. I was very thankful when DH vacuumed a couple of weeks ago with the shop vac but that definitely isn't an easy way to go.
Yay to feeling better, Jayne!
Shelly, it sounds like you had a marvelous Thanksgiving with your family. So glad you were able to get together with your sisters, sounds like a wonderful time.
Wow, moving day, thank you, Ann, for your wonderful work thinking up fun challenges for us. You are the best!
Ann, Thanks for the wonderful new list! I'm sad that I didn't complete last year's list. I'm going to try extra hard on this list. I really missed doing weekly cards. It was just one of those years.
I was at the craft sale all day...long day...until 7 p.m. Tomorrow it's from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Not too busy today, hopefully better tomorrow. My friend and I decided we're not going to do this craft sale next year. The cost to participate keeps going up and the numbers of people attending and buying crafts has dropped drastically since Covid. I'm looking forward to just making cards for fun!
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Ann thanks for keeping the Alpha challenge going, I’ve managed to finish two more cards for the last round but with only a few weeks left before our trip it will be next year before I can get stuck in.
Thanks Ann for the new challenges and for all you do. I also had to put my thinking cap on for them which isn’t hard. I tend to think literally.
For rubber ducky all I could think of was an image of the beach or pool and what we used to get the kids to wear before they could swim or a rubber duck LOL. I think I’m going to have to google some of the last few toys. Never heard of them. I must be old lol.

Hey there, everyone, nice to see the new list. I'm a little disappointed that Mr. Potato Head isn't one of the prompts...M or P. I'm a fanatic about Mr. Potato Head, since I found out he was born in 1952, my birth year.
Had a lovely dinner on Thursday. I had a very sleepy drive up here for some reason, had to open the car windows and blast some music. But the trip was smooth and quick. I jumped right into pie baking as I didn't want to rest, otherwise I might lose interest in pie baking.
Yesterday was a chill day. Judy and I drove into town, tried to buy a Christmas tree, no luck. There aren't a lot of places up here that sell them. Eagle River doesn't have the usual type of tree lots, like at a Menard's or Home Depot or even private ones. I think they're going to cut a small tree right on their lot for a tree on their deck outside. We went to a couple of thrift stores, looking for Christmas decor and flannel shirts for John. No luck with either. I couldnt' believe it when Judy brought out their Christmas decor...two boxes only. I'm embarrassed how much I have. I should go into business, decorating other people's homes. I do like to do things differently every year, that's why I keep my stuff. Judy got rid of a lot of stuff before they moved and I think she's sorry about some of the stuff, like garland. I think when people move, they get on a purging kick and it's hard to think ahead.
Today we're driving to Land 'o Lakes, which is almost up to the Michigan state line. There are some stores up there and hopefully a Christmas tree lot. And no, the town isn't the home of the butter.
I'm glad to hear everyone had a good day on Thursday. Shirl, I have never heard of cellulitis in the ear. Wow. Cellulitis on the legs, yes, and it's rather dangerous. Jayne, glad you're feeling better. Jan, ick about the dentist. Gracie, I'm sneezing and dripping today, no idea why, except I did spend more time than usual cuddling Rowdy, a big black lab. I am allergic to dogs but they don't bother me like cats might. Hmmmmm.
The snow up here is melting but the roads that were snow covered are now very slippery. I don't have the right shoes to walk up here and I need some walking poles. They don't salt, maybe they put down sand but not a lot. The snow gets packed down, melts, refreezes, it's like a skating rink. Yesterday they got a Fed-Ex delivery, the driver wouldnt' drive down their driveway as it was so icy. Amazon does not do next delivery up here, even if you have Prime.
I've forgotten what I read on the old thread so I'll just say so long for now. Oh, Teri, fortunately I love all my family, there is no one that I'd rather not have dinner with.

Good morning. We had a pretty low key Thanksgiving. Son is off with friends, so just 3 of us. DH made brats, chorizos, & hamburgers. I did mashed potatoes, corn, and fresh buns.
When I was eating an innocent peanut butter sandwich for supper, a filling came out of my tooth - smack dab in the front, so getting that repaired is on the agenda in the near future.
We're getting together again today at DD's, along with a friend who is a recent widow. We're ordering from Meiji restaurant. I made rice krispie treats to take along for sweets.
Jean, when we were kids, we went to my Grandma's farm & cut a tree from in the woods. They often were a bit ragged or lopsided, but my dad would cut off some of the lower branches, drill holes along the trunk where some foliage was needed, and insert some of the extra branches. I'm sure they were never picture perfect, but it sure didn't matter to us. We loaded it with ornaments, lights and tinsel, (remember those silver crinkly strands?). That hid the flaws pretty well. When it was time to take the tree down, we meticulously removed all the tinsel, and saved it up for next year. We saved wrapping paper, too. Anyone else remember doing that?
Whoa, this round looks hard and at the moment, I have zero ideas, lol...But your explanation helped Ann. Thank you for all you do for us!!
Melody, hate when that happens. Hope you don't have to wait too long to get an appt.
Jean, I have lots of decor too. I don't use it all every year, but not getting rid of it. I have culled a few things over the years. I had a nativity snow globe in gold that I bought from Michaels one year. I stored it on its side and it leaked partially so Joseph and Mary's heads were above the water, lol. Looked goofy so I got rid of it. Now to find a new one. Mikes have nothing like it this year.
Jan when do you leave for your trip?
Gracie that is a long day. Nice that you can do this with your friend!
Catherine, I am thinking it is nice and cozy if you are heating with wood!
We met friends for lunch at IHOP on Friday. We had not seen them since their daughter had died from covid. She is doing well now, but it wiped her out of course.

Melody, isn't frustrating when that happens on something soft that shouldn't have removed a filling? I broke one once but was eating a hard pretzel. I should have known better on that, but not a peanut butter sandwich!
I'm trying to find the new SU mini online. People post them every once in a while. Mostly the hobby demos. I saw a seaside bay bundle I'd like to get. Someone who had gone to onstage was able to pre-order and that's how I got a peek at that.
Melody bad news about your tooth, Steve was eating muesli when he chipped his front tooth, the dentist filled it but being just a chip it came out, they tried to talk him into having a tooth that they drill into your gums. Yikes!
Shirl we leave in three weeks, two overnight hotel stops and a day and a night on the ferry.
then in January we fly to SF, our sons friend hunts and has been saving different meats for Steve to cook! Should be interesting!
I used to buy chocolate ornaments for the tree and one year when we were taking them down our youngest had eaten half of them and left the wrappers hanging! Little monkey!
Sammy has been sleeping all day. She's going to be a royal rip tonight! I got a lot of accomplished today but I started working on a rosette tree and about halfway through got frustrated and threw the whole thing in the trash! my one friend would think if she saw that. She saves every scrap of everything and to see me through all that away would probably send her into a tizzy!
Kathy I would be getting it out of the trash too lol
Melody, hope you get your tooth fixed soon and it’s not painful.
Enjoy your travels Jean.
Happy Sunday

Jayne, I got frustrated half way through. She made it sound so easy but I burned my thumb with hot glue! That was the last straw! LOL. You really needed three hands for that project. I should have guessed it wasn't going to be easy when she didn't show how she glued each layer. She just told you and showed you the end product. Now I know why!
So funny, Kathy! Now you know why I don’t try most of those special projects. They never work out for me. You do a lot more special projects than I do! those you tubes always make everything look so simple! Not!
Ann, I love the new list. My thinking cap will be on!
We had the nicest Thanksgiving at DD's. All present, including, husbands, signif. others. The food was fab, especially the stuffing and boiled onions I added! (Tooting my own horn)
Everyone is healthy, and making plans for Christmas at #1 son's. All I have to do is make out checks. I see the news, and the people in the stores, and am so glad I am beyond that. A perk of being old.
This Dec. we have two graduates, one from college and one from Law School. Tom, our bio major is working in a hospital, and will apply to perfusionist college programs (there are 6 in the U.S.) Samantha will take the Bar in Feb., and she is already stressing, but will do fine. Our DD, the atty, has offered her a job when she passes. DGS Jake is teaching in our old Alma Mater. How cool is that? He's loving it.
DH is doing well. Forgetful of days, news, conversations, but happy to watch reruns on TV. I am so glad I have SCS to turn to!!!!!!!!!!! I love you all!
This may be my only chat entry, so if I am absent, please know I read up on your activities, and comment when I can.
Love and hugs, Anne

So happy Anne to read of your great Thanksgiving and up coming graduations. You should be proud. We will enjoy it when you can check in, but completely understand when you don’t. Glad to see others checking in, too.
hugs to all.
Beautiful photo, Dagmar! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing the lovely photos each Christmas season, Dagmar!
Anne, I'm glad you are celebrating the holiday season with family! It sounds as though you have a lot of talented young people! Congrats! Thinking of you and DH as you travel through this part of your journey together. It reminds me of my mom and dad. Mom turned 90 and has a new cat that we believe was sent from Dad, he's been gone for 7 years now. She just loves Dori, talks to her and treats her like royalty. Mom is much less anxious and happier than she's been for years. Yay!
Kathy, that project sounds like too much work and OUCH, burning your fingers with hot glue gun.
I'm hoping to clean and reclaim my table top in my craft room today. Hoping to get started on some Christmas cards, too.
Melody, I hope you can get in to the dentist to have your filling replaced. DH had crowns put on 2 teeth this month...$$$. :(
Ann, I'm going to start brainstorming for the next Alpha challenge, too; it looks very interesting.
Have a great Sunday all!

Good morning! It is a lovely, mild day here and I need to get busy but wanted to check in here first. DD1 and her boyfriend got back on Friday - yay, so glad to have her back. We are very aware that in a short while she will be gone to college.
Both girls are currently at work, DD1 should get done shortly. She had to be there at 4 am today which she wasn't looking forward to. She hasn't had an early morning like that in a while. DD2 started at 10 and works until 6:30 pm. She is pulling more mid shifts now that she is a manager. She definitely preferred the early mornings, not because she is a morning person but because she liked getting done so early in the day!
I was busy yesterday stamping a one sheet wonder and then making six Christmas cards out of it. Though I have been making Christmas cards all year long, I am still behind on production so need to step up the pace! I have two more cards that I could upload for Z for the last round but I haven't taken photos of them yet.
Kathy, I will have to go check out your projects and ouch to burning your finger! I often have that problem with the hot glue gun.
Gracie, at least you had your friend there to hang out with at the craft fair, I have enjoyed having DD1 sit at the table with me at the one fair I have done. And that is what I hear about the fees at some of these fairs.
Jean, glad you made it safely there. One of the things I do when tired and have to drive is chew gum.
As for Christmas decorations, I don't have a huge amount. DD1 has always wanted me to get more and do themed trees etc. I tell her the theme of our tree is family as we have a lot of piano and music related ornaments for me, penguins for DH, and a variety of things for the girls. However, the ornaments for the girls are for them to take when they move out so they'll have a start on their ornament collection. I think I'll still have enough ornaments for our tree, we'll see when that day comes.
Oh no to your filling coming out, Melody, I hope you can get an appointment soon! It makes me think of when I was a kid. A lot of my baby teeth had fillings and our dentist was a family friend. When I had a tooth come out with a filling in it, I called him up and asked if he guaranteed his work and what he did if a filling fell out. I teased him for a while before letting him know it was a baby tooth that fell out!
We always had a fake tree when I was a kid and we covered it in so much tinsel and garland that you couldn't hardly see it. One year I got it in my head that I wanted a real tree and wanted that whole Hallmark family moment where we would go to the woods and cut down the perfect tree. Ha! That was a joke. Mom knew better and sent Dad and I alone to get this tree. Funny how trees growing in the wild look perfect until you get up close. After trudging through lots of snow looking at lots of trees, getting frozen and perhaps a little grumpy, we picked a tree and brought it home. It wasn't even remotely perfect and Mom laughed at it! Dad did just what you mentioned, Melody, and drilled holes to move branches and make it more symmetrical. Never again did I ask to do that!
Ha, Shirl, it can a little too cozy heating with wood. Last night I had shorts on in my living room because it was too warm in there! Thankfully, DH didn't do that on Thanksgiving or I would have died cooking dinner. He had the house at the perfect temp (for me) for cooking.
How is your ear doing?
Jan, that is too funny about the chocolate ornaments!
Such a beautiful photo for Advent, Dagmar, thank you!
Anne, congrats on the graduates! Perfusionist College? What a great career and so important!
Gracie, ouch to the new crowns. Those puppies are expensive! My front two teeth have been crowns since I was in second grade. Kissing a cement driveway at velocity is NOT good for your teeth! I remember getting tired of telling the story of how it happened over and over again, I wanted to wear a sign! LOL
Here are photos of my card project from yesterday. The first photo should be the stamped one sheet wonder that I created, the next is a photo of the stamp sets and ink colors I used to stamp the sheet, and the last is a photo of the six cards I made with it. Hopefully, the site leaves them all in landscape mode!
Catherine , those are gorgeous cards! Well done. I still have Christmas cards to do, so I am hoping the Falliday fest Challenges will help with that. BTW, Falliday begins tomorrow if anyone didn’t know.
I am busy this afternoon making tag ornaments for our Bible study fellowship On Tuesday morning. I watched a Graphic Fairy tutorial them on how to do it, and liked it. Happy Sunday.
Ann lovely to hear you had a lovely thanksgiving with your family, congrats to your family on their achievements, you must be very proud.
we are also going to #1 sons for Christmas and theNew Year but having a late Christmas celebration with #2 son when we get to SF, we are keeping all the gifts until we get there although like you we give cash, spondulies as our eldest GS calls it, (not sure that’s how it’s spelt)
gorgeous cards Catherine, we always had fake trees growing up, I don’t think anyone had real ones in those days, my Mum wouldn’t have stood the mess of the needles dropping!
So lovely to see Dagmar and Anne. Anne, glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and congratulations to your graduate DGCs. You have such a talented family.
Catherine we’ve always had fake trees. I can’t recall anyone having real trees when I was growing up in the UK and here I also haven’t heard of anyone having a real tree but I suppose some do. I also used to watch the movies and dream of having a real tree and going to outdoor ice rinks. The movies used to make it all look like a fairy tale in the States. All I needed was Bing Crosby stood at a piano singing I’m dreaming of a white Xmas lol.
Your cards are gorgeous.
We have to buy a new tree this year as I gave ours away after last Xmas. Not sure how I will go getting one as I should have bought it by now. Oh well, maybe my excuse not to decorate lol. I have boxes of decorations and each year use less and less. We have an international ornament tree with ornaments from every country and some towns we have visited. It is a good conversation starter.
Happy week everyone.

We always had a real Christmas tree and I loved the fresh pine scent. Of course, lots of needles to clean up once we took the tree down. We had so many beautiful ornaments on the tree, but then, my mom always covered it with strands of tinsel. She would hang the tinsel very carefully, making sure it hung down perfectly!
Sharon, I'm hoping to participate in the Falliday Fest. I'm still making Christmas cards and need to get them sent out soon.
Jayne, your international Christmas tree sounds fabulous!
Jan, is "spandulies" a word for a gift of cash? I've never heard that word before.

Gracie yes that’s what he calls cash, apparently it’s an old fashion name for cash, we used to call a pound in English money a quid, so Steve told the youngest GS he would send him a couple of quid pocket money for a game he wanted on payday so yesterday he rang and asked if it was payday yet!
Linda, my interpretation --- The theme is toys, so Ann's clues/inspiration hints are all toys or games. That does not, however, mean that you need a game or toy on your card. Use the clue as inspiration, not as a literal picture of what should be on your card. For example, alphabet letters could mean a background of stenciled letters, or a stamp that is the alphabet, or blocks/squares with letters for a word in your sentiment, or simply a large sentiment, etc. Whatever the clue makes you think of. The intent is not to have you stress over the clue as to whether you are doing it right or not. Just use what you think it means and have fun. No stamping police here. No jail time!
Falliday Fest has begun! Unfortunately mom's decided she needs a haircut this morning and Mom comes first so I will be back later to begin the fun! I'm glad we have time in between. If I understand correctly the next challenges will be posted Wednesday
Hope some will be joining in the Falliday Fest fun this morning!
Linda, use the list as inspiration like Melody stated. The first challenge is Alphabet Letters! What do you thing about when I say alphabet letters to you?
Can't wait to see how my toy list inspires everyone!! Put on your thinking caps!!
