Hi everyone! Sounds like everyone has a million and one things going on. I finished my last VSN today. Not bad, considering I didn't start until Tuesday or Wednesday since I was gone last weekend. I'm a little burned out, I think, although I loved it all. Right up my alley to think about fantasy. CS Lewis, Tolkien, fairies, so me.
We have had pretty interesting weather the past month....cold over Memorial Day weekend, extreme heat, nicer weather when I was up north, now wet and humid. At least it's not too hot now. Hot and humid is my breaking point. I am not ready by any stretch for fall but I do prefer that weather.
I wish we could enjoy summer more, people are already talking about back to school (my daughter is). Of course my grands haven't been in school for over a year so I know it's so past time for them to return. They have spent way too much time together and are not getting along that great. Target will have back to school out by July 4th. That was my least favorite thing to stock (besides groceries) when I worked there. Those boxes of paper and notebooks are heavy.
My daughter got a second cat. First one is black and white named Finn, the new kittie is a gray tiger stripe named Gus. So far they are not ready to tolerate each other, I hope that improves.
When I was visiting my sister, we went to a lovely greenhouse and she bought some deer resistant annuals. The next morning, before she could even plant them, the deer had eaten the phlox flower. Must have been tasty.
I've lost my train of thought so I'll sign off. Have a good week, everyone. Hang in there!

I thought the humidity had improved but I guess not. At least it's not hot...66 right now. I feel so badly for those in Washington State and Oregon (like one4joy and tessaduck and Stacy and Lori). Looks like the opposite of what the polar vortex can be....both suck but if I had to choose, I'd take the polar vortex. Can always bundle up and or stay inside, cozy with a book and a blankie. An electric one, like mine. That's how I watch tv or read in the winter...keep the heat down and wrap up in my electric blanket. Saves on energy. I hate wasting energy on heating and cooling. The heat just zaps me, even when I can be in ac.
well on that note of joy and cheer, I'll sign off for now.

I can't take the heat either so I end up most days inside in the air conditioning. The problem with that is then I start to ache all over from the air conditioning. It's a vicious cycle. Yesterday was not a good day. My muscles ate from being in the AC and it was so hot to go outside. When I got up this morning around 8:00 it was already 94° out. My feet hurt so I'm wearing sneakers even though I hate shoes.
Good morning, ladies. I haven’t been here in such a long time. I’ve received such wonderful, caring cards and want to thank my friends for thinking of me. It’s been a struggle lately, still trying to find out what’s going on in this mixed-up body. The procedure to test for bone marrow cancer was negative, bless the good Lord. Now I wait for my general practitioner to decide where to go next. Meanwhile, still puttering around the house getting it ready to sell. I’m painting the porch railings now, and DH is building a breakfast bar off the small kitchen island. He’s still slowly recovering from the falls and the whack on the head, even though it’s been months. His age has caught up with him. I haven’t done any crafting of any kind in months, but still eating healthy, doing restorative yoga and mindful meditation, and still dancing around the house now and then (to Dusty Dog’s confusion) and getting in my 10,000 steps a day. Except Sunday, lol. I consider that a reward day for doing well the previous 6 days!
Take care, sweet ladies. I’ll try to keep up on events. Xoxo

Good morning! High heat today - like most of you - but with no AC at work. The tech comes tomorrow to look at it, praying it is an easy fix. I'm sure they have been extremely busy with all the hot weather.
I forgot to tell you, on Saturday morning we got into my car to go to town and it wouldn't start! (My car is a 2007 Camry hybrid.) We knew the small battery (not the main hybrid batteries) was at the end of its life. What we didn't know was that even though it is the "regular" battery, it is still a special battery that can only be purchased from the dealer. DH found that out yesterday morning (that is how he started his Father's Day celebration day.) He charged it up so we could drive it down to the dealer and buy the battery and install it before we went to breakfast. So thankful to have it be quick and easy and know that the alternator is fine.
DH did have a nice Father's Day celebration yesterday. Out to eat, a new impact wrench, games with the family. A lovely day.
Thanks for the info, Kathy, about the stamps you used.
Jean, I have always hated that the back to school sales start so early - almost before the current school year is done! And I agree, I'm happy for the cold weather over hot weather.
Yes, boxes of paper are very heavy. When I worked in the Purchasing Dept. of the hospital, sometimes I had to cover in the stock room (the hospital must have their supplies even if we were down staff). I didn't like lifting the cases of paper but even worse were the boxes of x-ray film. So heavy!
Kandie, so nice to see you pop in and thankful the test results were negative. You have your hands full, You have your hands full but it sounds like you are still keeping your healthy choices in place. Good for you! Praying they can figure out what is going on.

Linda I think DTGD is before Falliday….Ann or Melody will know.
Hi everyone and good to see Kandie pop on.
We are back in a 4 day lockdown….only 3 cases but the virus is transmitting quickly and without contact. All in places near us..eeek. The first case had had her vaccine jab too. I’m happy to go under my rock..again.

Nope, I don't know, Jayne, but I think if you look in the challenges, you can probably figure out by last years dates which comes first. I'm too lazy to go look...
Kathy, we are the same here with our weather. Our a/c in the bedroom kept it a bit cooler last night, but it can only do so much as there is hot air outside and hot air inside. So it only got down to 27 C. When I turned it on at 8 p.m. it said it was 30C. After running for 12 hrs, it only got 3 degrees lower!
We are just above Washington so we are in the Pacific Northwest too and it is pretty bad.
Kandie, so happy to see you popped in for an update. Glad you got a negative report! Congrats on all that exercise! It is too hot to walk outside any time of the day right now.
Linda, glad you are a member again!
Melody, thank you for the measurements. I would love to try it, but it is too hot to do anything at the moment.
Catherine no a/c at work???? Companies here are shutting down because of the heat. School did not happen today either.
hugs to all!
Shirl

I haven't been doing any creating. We have stuff in the garage that's been there since DH's company was sold, so we've been going through boxes, etc. purging mostly. But anything we are keeping, we have to find a better storage place for. DH would do it all in one day if he could, but I do not move that fast. And I'm the one going through most of it. I have to take breaks.
Kandie so good to see you, pleased to hear your tests were negative, sounds as if you are keeping yourselves busy! Take care
jayne I read last night that you were back in lockdown, when will it end! Steve read last night that we had five new infections, trouble is we now have everyone coming down for summer, the beach was busy yesterday, we are walking early to avoid them all.
Shirl steve said parts of Canada are experiencing over 40c, we occasionally get to that heat but normally 38c is the highest, thankfully we have the pool, it was 31c yesterday, the car was reading 38c but we had been parked in the sun.
Linda I checked in the forums and my gallery and there’s no consistency other than DTGD is before Falliday. One year it was July and the next it was August. Hope this helps.

I’m still receiving birthday cards…let the celebrations continue lol. Thank you Liz and I also received one from Karen and a lovely letter. She does so well to write given she’s still having problems with her arm. I’m blessed..thank you all.
It’s time to create before our walk. Happy Tuesday everyone

Good morning! Today the AC people come to check out our AC at work. My concern is that they'll need a part and that will take weeks to arrive. That is what has happened at DD1's Starbucks. It looks like their AC should be fixed on Monday...may it be so. At least they have portable units in now though it doesn't keep it cool enough for the employees. She worked 8 hours yesterday and was loopy by the end of it, she said.
Fortunately, our temps aren't as hot as the Pacific Northwest. I've been watching my home town temps and am horrified. It is supposed to be 115 there today! At least most people there should have AC, the people on the west side of the state often do not have AC because they don't get so hot there...usually.
Yes, Linda, DTGD is in the summer and Falliday Fest sometime closer to Thanksgiving.
Shirl, sorry you are dealing with such horrible heat. It isn't so bad here and wearing shorts makes it tolerable. We also have fans and turn the AC on in the area next to the office, open doors and windows (these are roll up windows between the office and that next section) and have the fan blowing into the office. It makes it manageable. It is definitely harder for me to sleep in the summer months.
Melody, I need to go through boxes in the garage but they are hard to get to now. There is a Mustang in the way! I would need to take breaks too. I should definitely get on the boxes while DD2 is still at home, she is my minimalist.
I need to head out early - need to get gas on my way to work. Have a lovely day - hi to those who Zoom today!
I was at a craft retreat all last week. I have the granddaughters here for a few days now. Summer has sure been busy! I haven't kept up with ABC or Splitcoast groups well at all! I guess, as Ann says, people first...but YOU all are people too! So I'm going to try harder to stop in. OH yes, we have a new lab puppy too...so we've been going to bed early, because she gets up at 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. every day. Her name is Abby!
Sending hugs to all!

Morning ladies! I’m making a paper list to alleviate overwhelm with our big trip coming up. I discovered the base of my anxiety....it’s been a real problem for me this time around...I think b/c we didn’t go at all last summer and b/c DD1 isn’t going with us. She is my rock b/c the same things bother both of us. But we can text and FaceTime and I WILL BE OK!!! Also our dog will have to spend a day and a night alone and I feel bad for her. But we have a neighbor checking in on her a few times and she will be OK!!! I can do this!!!! It’s only a week and then we’ll be back home and I can settle into my much loved home life!!!!! I CAN DO THIS....repeating for good measure.
OK...I also want to get in gear and be organized. Ann, I think you have emailed what I need at some point and I know I can search my inbox...I need to have handy all of your addresses and birthdays. I really, really want and need to do this b/c I SO appreciate happy mail and I’ve NOT been sending anything out for quite some time. I hate that. That information should all be in my email right?!
I also want to keep a list of needs and ups and down of other’s lives to be able to send cards out for that too. You are close in thought and heart, but I don’t get that relayed to you each when needed....
Off I go to finalize my paper list and get in gear for today. DH is home until noon and DD2 is sleeping. Kiddos are up at summer school and little guy comes home first at 9:50!
Gracie, so glad you popped on. I have been missing you and wondering where you were. A craft retreat for a week? Sounds like so much fun. And congrats on your new puppy! What do your other pets think of this development?
Rebekah, yes, you should have it in your inbox. The most recent list I have from Ann was sent May 20 of this year.
I'm glad you are both enjoying sunshine. I'm always happy to send some of ours out to you!
I'm running behind this morning, haven't even had my coffee yet, waiting for it to cool down a little. I'm going to go check out cards and comment.

Found both the Alpha challenge list and addy list in my inbox, yay! PRINTING them off now so they can be useful to me!!
I just posted my ABC15I9 card, right after Catherine.
Still humid here and hotter, with the sun out. I guess if it's going to be humid, I'd rather it be cloudy. Never happy!!!! I hope the weather improves or has improved out west.
I really have done a lot of art lately, feeling a little burned out physically, not mentally. I create standing up most of the time so that wears me out. I have one more project today, a Zentangle one.
There is work happening on my street concerning the water...old pipes or something. Fortunately the house I'm in has copper already so no work for me. But it's noisy and lots of vehicles on the street.
Went out to eat last night with old friends. Nice to see faces for real instead of Zoom.
Kandie, good to hear from you. I hope you get some answers soon. Always better to know and then make a plan. But good news that it isn't what you feared.

I got more bad news today. My youngest sister has breast cancer. She sees the doctor tomorrow to get the plan of action because it's an aggressive form. It sounds like chemo and radiation. She hasn't told mom yet because of all she's dealing with taking care of dad. I took mom to the ear doctor today. He cleaned her ears out. Said there was quite a build up. I'm hoping her hearing improves, but we will see. I also took her to Walmart. She hasn't been in Walmart in over a year. I took her around the store to areas she needed to go to and then let her loose in the food section because I knew it would be easy to find her once we got on that side.
