I have been AWOL again. Many of you know about my sister's cancer. She had a severe relapse and ended up with a pretty complicated emergency surgery and then a relapse back to another 5 days in the hospital before she was finally able to return home to CA in mid-January.
I flew down to California around Jan. 4th to pick up my Mom in Redding, CA, (northwest CA), and we both flew to Arizona to the Cancer Centers of America to help with her care after they released her from in-hospital care to their continuing care area while she recovered enough to be able to fly home.
This isn't a medically staffed recovery area, but more their hotel-like building attached to their cancer center treatment areas, hospital, and medical offices. She needed a caregiver with her at all times, and her husband had to return to CA a week after surgery, so Mom & I took over.
Mom is a spry 94-year old...you may remember my talking about my amazing mother in the past. She is a retired nurse (over 40 years ago), and of course, she wanted to be there...Heidi is the baby of the family. Mom can't really fly by herself anymore. She could if she put her mind to it, but it would exhaust her too much to handle travel details and requirements, making arrangements, luggage, etc. She actually hasn't flown since around 2009. I guess you'd call me the girl-Friday, but I don't shy away from medical help where needed...I had and have too many nurses in the immediate family, I guess. Over the year, some of it rubs off a bit!
Soooo, needless to say, I have not gotten any cards posted for the new year. I have lots of catch up to do and I've missed all my NEEDED January cards, but I think family and friends understand.

I've been updating my AOCC tracking template in my SCS Challenge Table to accommodate the new style of participating. I think I will report quarterly what I need to do for the next 3 months.
Here is what I need for 2020 - Quarter 1...January, February, & March:
January:
Family birthday cards: 2 male/ 1 little girl (will do the girl with a book gift card).
Anniversary: 1 -- a belated one with their restaurant gift card).
Friends: 7 female birthdays...will try to follow-up with thinking of you cards.
Christmas: 6...will try to make up.
February:
Family Birthdays: 1 male (completed, not uploaded); 1 female
Friend Birthdays: 3 female
Friend: 1/ Thinking of You
Valentines: 17...probably won't do this year, as I have to return to CA in a week.
Christmas: 6 Christmas
March:
Family Birthdays: 2 male/ 2 little girls.
Friend Birthdays: 2 females
Christmas: 6
My plan is that if I fall behind in friend birthdays, I may follow-up later with a Hello/ Thinking of You card. That way, at least they know I am thinking about them! We'll see how that work out!
February:

I haven't done much of anything on my list this month (February). Things have been hectic at work, so I didn't make any valentines cards or coworker treats and I had to use a store bought card [*gasp!*] for my co-worker's 20th anniversary. :( My son's class made valentines cards in class, so at least I don't have to feel guilty about not helping him make something for his girlfriend/crush. I did make a few cards this weekend, and I will upload those soon.
So, here is where I am on my list:
Birthday cards - 3 feminine and 2 masculine - DONE
20 year work anniversary for one of my coworkers
es for DH and kids - 3 total
Thinking of You/Get Well cards - 3 to have on hand - 1 Thinking of You card done, but mailed it out today, so still need 3 more
Here are a few of the cards for January (I have over 50 cards that I need to create blog posts, so I have my requirements finished for Jan/Feb but not enough time to share, lol!)
Well, looks like I am behind on my February goal. I have a viral infection and haven't been able to do much of anything for the past five days. I did get my last birthday card done- the 18th Birthday.
I can’t believe it’s March already – how did that happen?? Just so I can keep track, I'm posting my list of cards I need or would like to stock up on for this month.
March:
Friend/Coworker Birthdays: 3 females (these were all early in the month, so they are already done and mailed (or ready to mail)
Thinking of You/Get Well cards – 1 to mail now, 2 more to have on hand
Sympathy - 2 to have on hand
Congratulations – 1 to send now, 2 more to have on hand
I also have a bunch of birthdays (at least 5 or 6) in April, so I will probably try to get a head start on those as well.
Carlene- I am so sorry, I must have missed the post about your sister. How is she doing? Sounds like you have a wonderful mother- to be that active at 94, wow! I pray that we can all live that long and have that great of a testimony.
Mustlovecats- I love your first card of the year! Your stitched cards are gorgeous and so distinctive- great job and thankful that you shared with us!
Amy, so sorry to hear that you were ill as well. Hope you are fully healed and love your cards!
Misti- your HM cards are just too cute! Love how you are able to use them for so many occasions and also love the ones that you share that are not HM. I think you must have a very large HM collection- have you ever counted them all? I only have two, I believe but know that I enjoy seeing all of yours!!
Nichole- you have been busy, sweet friend! Great job using up some of your beautiful designer papers, I always struggle using a whole piece for a card since I do not want to cover up that gorgeous paper :-) I need to create more cards like the ones you shared- thanks for the inspiration!!
Well, March is here already and I am still working on mailing out the remaining January and February cards! I have created them, just still juggling with mailing them!
We have a large church family (900+) and I have a list of at least 30 "Praying for You/Thinking of You" type cards that I need to get mailed as well (the important part is that I have been praying but would like to get mailing, lol)!
I only need two feminine birthday cards in March so I am hoping that in between doing our taxes, working with the contractors on finishing up some remodeling, and, of course, normal household duties, I can get two cards designed for March as well as mail out all of the others from Jan/Feb.!
Hugs and so thrilled for all of you that you are sharing and mailing your cards!
I forgot to post my March list of crafty things to finish. Since I didn't get all of my Feb list done, I will try to squeeze in some of it.
3 Birthday cards (2 feminine & one for stash)
4 Christmas cards
1 Thank you
1 Get Well or Sympathy for stash
1 set monogram cards for co-worker's Christmas gift
6 Easter cards
Easter candy treat holders for co-workers
Scrapbook May & June 2019
Finish mini album started in Feb
Here is another generic "Praying for you/Thinking of You" type card with a bit of a masculine theme. I need so many of these for my church family and need to get busy mailing....I did create another card using the same colors with a different sketch layout.
I have not posted that one yet and still need to post at least 50 cards to my blog/gallery- yikes!!
Hugs and I hope all of you are staying safe and healthy during this pandemic.
Here is another one for March- one of the ladies in my Bible Study welcomed another grandchild into their family (the first child for her youngest daughter). This will be the card I will mail to my friend in the Bible Study (due to the coronavirus, the ladies are not meeting at this time, I usually hand-deliver)
Sorry I’ve been MIA, we went away for five weeks to look after our DGS and since we came back to Spain we’ve been in lockdown, now it’s extended for another three weeks until April 26th so I should be able to catch up with uploading my cards.
I have two cards for April, 10 th for DIL and 29th for youngest GS although we’ve been told not to send unnecessary post, so I will take a photo of DILs card and email it to her!
I am also looking to send an e-card too.
Since schools are shut down until who knows when, I should be able to get a lot of my April goals done.
3-4 Christmas cards
3 birthday (for stash)
2 Mother's Day
2 Father's Day
scrapbook July & August 2019
finish mini album that I started in Feb.
3 Get Well or Sympathy cards (for stash)
2 Thank You cards (for stash)
lots of Thinking of You type cards
maybe some more Easter cards (about 4)
2 sets of monogram cards for Christmas presents
Well, here were are a week into April and I haven't gotten much done (again), although I managed to make a couple b-day cards and 4 sympathy cards in the last week or so - I need to upload and post them when I have time.
I also made a "coupon" for my son - he met his reading goal for school, but because of social distancing and stores being closed, we can't get him what we agreed to buy if he did it, so he's stuck with an IOU. Here's a picture: Golf Coupon
For this month, I need to make:
2 birthday cards - one for DH (he's turning 60, so it has to be something special) and one for DD
Get Well/Thinking of You cards - 3 to have on hand
Mother's Day cards - 2 (for my Mom and my MIL)
I've also been toying with the idea of starting on Christmas cards, but I just cant bring myself to do it this early. I have to at least wait until the new SU Annual catalog comes out because I know I will find a different stamp set or idea that I want to use once I see it.
Hi Everyone! So sorry that I am a bit behind on commenting but plan to visit your galleries soon!
I am thrilled to see that you are creating and mailing your cards :-)
I have been busy creating and am trying to take a break from being online several days a week (the reason I am behind on commenting), but I need to give my shoulders a break- I suffer from severe osteoarthritis in my knees, ankles and shoulders. Typing on the computer causes a bit of shoulder pain so the break has been helpful.
Anyway, I have over 50 cards designed and I need to post but again, am unable to keep up on posting lately, lol!
This is one of my many Christmas cards needed. I'll post for January since it was actually made then, though not uploaded to my SCS gallery until now! Here is my card: Minty Softness @ Christmas...
