I've seen some hostesses offer little prizes for getting things in on time and possibly even having the cards judged by other people and winning a prize. I don't see a problem with it. If you feel you want to offer that as a hostess you can. There are no guidelines on the prizes. That would be up to you.
Okay my inquiring question of the day....when it says two layers....does the card count as one?
Ha Ha. Good question and now that I think of it I am not sure I really know. I usually do at least a card base with a main image with a layer behind the main image, so there are two layers in addition to the card base, right? I am thinking that is what it means. Of course more wouldn't hurt, so if in doubt add another layer. Maybe someone else will jump in here and give you a better answer.
I know it could go different ways. An image mounted on a back ground (does the back ground need to be full). Or there is the full proof way two full layers on top of card front with image. Oh my....I understand not wanting a plain card with just a single stamped image but am I learning alot here, that is for sure.
Ok I looked at our Swapping Terms in the So You Wanna Swap? thread and it says:
Layer – A piece of cardstock layer upon another
So two layers would be two pieces on top of the card base. It doesn't specify if they are background size or image size. I think that is up to the creator. So I am going to say if the swap say min. two layers and you have two pieces in addition to the base then you are within the rules.
Thanks for clarifying that. I am safe...yeah!!! See to me good cards are made out of heavy card stock too....but I am going to make sure I have my layers even though they may not be full size. Thanks again for all the help.
OK, here's a question I have been pondering about swaps. I am in a few swaps, and I am wondering if I can make the same card for two different swaps that are due at approximately the same time (of course, the criteria for both would be met on the same card). I am thinking that if the swaps have, say 20-25 people in each, and just a few of the same people in both swaps, that it would be OK? Of course, if the swaps are small (under 10-12 people) and some of the same swappers are in both, it wouldn't be ok to send the same card for both. Should I ask the hostesses involved, or is just a simple NO THAT"S NOT OK thing? My stamping time is quite limited (I work full time) and though I enjoy swaps, I just want to know if I can make one card do more work for me!
Ack, that didn't come out right now that I am rereading my post. I shold have said "same card DESIGN", not the SAME CARD. Duh. I plead brain death from being around middle schoolers too long....hope you know what I mean....
If you can see that there are some of the same people in both swaps or it is hostessed by the same person I would say no it is not ok to make the same card for both swaps. I would at least change it up a little. If you are talking about just the layout, then that is probably ok. But I would use different colors, different stamps, embellishments.
I see on a lot of the swaps "no metered strips". What exactly does that mean? I sent in my first two...went to the postal annex, told the guy that I needed the same postage put on the envelope inside so that the hostess could send it back to me. He did magic on his computer and slapped postage on both pieces. I sent extra stamps inside like I was supposed to. Did I do it OK? No one complained when they received them...so I guess just clarification please! Thanks

Metered postage is only good for the day that it is printed. You can't buy it and use it later. So when a swap states "no metered postage" that is what it means. Stamps or cash are the preferred way to ensure your return postage.
I'm a bit confused on card sizes - a bunch of swaps say full card (4.25 x 5.5) and full size card (4.25 x 5.5)
I'm used to making a card by starting with a half sheet of cardstock (4.25 x 5.5) and folding it into a card. Does this mean I use a full sheet and fold it thus creating a card that measures 4.25 x 5.5?
thanks!

To me it means using a half sheet of 8.5x11 cardstock and folding it to make a card that is 4.25x5.5. These cards fit perfectly into note card (A2) envelopes. There are also 3 x 3 cards and artist's trading cards...I am sure there are examples of those around the site. :-)
I am hosting a swap and want to edit the title.....I am able to figure out how to change/update the info, but not the title. HELP! : )
Hi Nicole. To edit your title, click the edit button like you would to edit a post, and then click the advanced options button. You should then be able to change the title however you wish to.
Is there a way to swap specific images for specific images? Like, is there a place I can post my wishlist for certain stamp images, and then grant someone else's wishlist for images that I have?

Hi! Welcome to swapping. It's a great deal of fun and you can meet some wonderful new friends on here. :-)
This link: Forums at Splitcoaststampers will take you to the swap info forum, where there is lots of information on swapping in general, and an image swap section in particular. Don't be afraid to ask questions on here, too. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and most willing to help us newbies out. :-)

yeah, I've looked all over there and am still lost. :( I've joined one swap (yay!) but I'm wondering if there's a specific wishlist-type RAK swap, like I mentioned in my earlier post

If you join the RAK group, they do have wishlists that people grant from. TO join the RAK group, go to your profile (get there by clicking "Welcome, Shaela" in the top right corner). Then click on "Group Memberships" (on the left hand side, about 1/3 the way down on the list). Then request to join the RAK group. HTH!
perfect, this is exactly what I was looking for! thanks so much!!
There's also a swap in the Products & Images subfolder, called "Open Image Swap (new way)" in which people post their offerings and wishes, and then PM each other to make a deal! This is a little more assured than the WishRAK, because there you really don't know if or when anyone will fill your wish...so if someone has something you want on their list in the New Way swap, you just PM them and you KNOW what/when you're getting something.

My guess would be to change the title to closed, thanks for all who participated or some such and just let it fall away gracefully...but that is just my guess. :-)
Just read the above and that answered my question.

I have a question..If I want to download a picture, say from google or somewhere to use in a swap that allows pictures, say ATC for example..is it best to print on reg cs or glossy cs or picture paper? I'm not that savvy but I do want my pictures to look nice..Many thanks

When I'm printing a photograph I usually prefer to use Photo Paper (Glossy is My Favorite Choice)
I would double check with your hostess though to see what her requirements are. Every swap has different guidlines for the quality they expect in the project or printed out photos.

Hi there - I opened my first swap a few days ago - not having much luck with people signing up - I think it is a little too close to a couple that are already open - how do I go about deleting this swap? I think I will try in a different category...Thanks for the help!

We don't delete threads. Just change the title to indicate that it's closed and then stop posting to it. It'll eventually drop off the first few pages.
This will be my first swap I'll be hosting (hopefully) and I was wondering where on the site I write all the information for my swap.
Thanks for your help!
