When I first come to this sight(everyday of course! ) I log in. Sometimes as I am going in and out of different areas on the site, I find that I some how have been logged out. I never go back past when I first log in...
Does this happen to anyone else?
Will keep a closer eye as to when exactly it happens but wondered what would cause this to happen.
in a perfect world you should have to login once and then every time you return to the site you should be logged in automatically. this *does* require that you have 'cookies' enabled and working in your browser. in case you're not familiar with cookies, they're little files that a web site will save to your computer that contain permanent information such as login info, etc.
we have had problems in the past with logins not getting retained, although these have been resolved for the most part. make sure that when you login, you check the little box that allows you to login automatically.
you might also try using a different browser. on Windows I really like FireFox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/). among other things like pop-up blocking and tabbed browsing (wouldn't live without either of these), it has a password manager feature that remembers your login info as you travel from site to site, and enters this information automatically when you load a new site.
if you continue to have problems, see if you can discern a pattern, and let us know. also let us know what type of computer you're using (operating system) and what browser you use.
I don't mind the logging in everytime I visit the site, I wondered why once I am logged in the site and have been looking around I somehow get logged out once in a while. The last time I was looking at the current conversations and then went into the gallery and wanted to post on a card and realized I wasn't logged in anymore.
Was courious if it was something I was doing or if others had this problem.
I will keep you posted if it continues.
Thanks for the reply
I also have this problem :( but like you, Katrina, I just sign back in as I don't mind either. I will have to check the box that automatically signs you in to see if this helps.
same thing happens to me... Thought I'd do some testing. I logged in; then moved around into different forums. Stayed logged in. However, as soon as I wanted to post a reply, then I was logged out and needed to log in again. Hope that helps in discovering why this is happening.
This does happen to me, too. At first, I thought it was because I was overusing my "Back" button in my browser, so I consciously chose not to do that each time, and still found myself logged out frequently.
I don't mind logging back in again, but sometimes I get rerouted back to the Main Gallery Index, for example, and have to find the card sample I was looking at before, and then try to repost. Sometimes this cycle has repeated a couple of times, and I have to skip the post.
I love this site, and this is not a gripe, just to let Daven know what's going on! Thanks,
Rhonda
This has been happening to me to. Usually when I go to post something it boots me out - It took me 2 tries to post my photos this morning. I have learned to copy my messages before I hit submit so If I do get booted all I have to do is paste my message.
I am relived this is happening to other people I thought maybe my computer was trying to make me nuts
This also happens to me frequently. Also, if I check the box to have automatic login, it only happens for about one ot two times, then I have to login again, which I just live with. It often logs me out when I am browsing and I also thought I was hitting the back button too often, but when I stopped doing this it still logged me out. My system is pretty archaic, I'm not really sure all my computer details, but I have a Gateway 2000 with Microsoft XP, but it is all several years old and doesn't have the memory of more recent computers (we actually bought it at Goodwill for $100 and it is better than our older computer!)
HTH!
After seeing Kookie's picture I promptly decided I needed to make some choco chip cookies. It's a rainy day and I think they would provide great stamping energy. I hope I don't feel this way every time I see her posts...then again, life is short! My kids are going to LOVE you kookie!
I made chocolate chunk cookies(more chocolate you know) just the other day and that is what got me thinkin' I don't have a picture of me so the cookie was the next best thing!
as for the logging in issue, I originally was having the same problem but then I checked the log me in each visit box at login and have never had an issue since. I also don't log out when I leave the site because if you do, you will have the same problem all over again.
Hope this helps!
I have this problem only at work. Never at home. I think it's just the network here at work. If this posts goes through without logging me off it will be a miracle. I tried yesterday 3 times and finally gave up.
hey everyone, sorry you're having problems. try these two things and let me know if it helps:
1) delete your browser cookies (not 'kookies') for splitcoaststampers (to delete cookies in IE6 for Windows, go to Tools > Internet Options... > Delete Cookies)
2) login and check the auto login thingee
there's no real reason to ever logout unless 1) you're sharing the computer with another splitcoast member, or 2) you are sharing the computer with someone else and you're worried they might try and access your account.
I have been having this exact same problem only lately. But it happens many times each time I am surfing the SCS site. It gets frustrating, as for example, I was just replying to a post, my reply was rather lengthy, and when I hit preview, it wanted me to log in again, and my message disappeared, and I could not get it back.
