My backs are flat but plit into almost 4 sections. It's not as pretty as with the hammer but it's a hell of a lot easier (and quieter). :) Pllus, I live in an apartment and can't use the hammer...

But if you stick with it and keep the back cardboard on hand, you'll get it in no time. I end up using the same size eyelets most of the time anyhow...
