i've done it before. Just cut my card about 2 inches wider and perferate at the end. So a) i could fold it and b) the giftee could tear it off.

I've only done them for the younger kids though as...

i use the fiskars scoring blade to you can buy it at michaels and they fit the little fiskars cutter. It will leave a nice fold. but i agree grain has a lot to do with it..but scoring helps leave it...

The are about the size of baseball cards or business cards and you creat them to look like cards.. really fun to do and do not use a ton of cardstock for swaps.. you can get 10 cards out of one piece...
