Did you try rubbing the (clean) stamp all over with an eraser, then stamping? It cleans manufacturing residue off the rubber completely and roughens the smooth surface just a TEENY bit, but enough...

Are Distress Inks really any different?

I'm thinking of buying some of the Tim Holtz Distress Inks, as I see them used on so many things, but I have to ask, are they really any different than, say a Colorbox or SU ink in a similar color?
