Stampin' card keeper question

So, I just put the Stampin' card keeper box together (from the holiday mini). I covered it with SU DSP and the lid won't fit over the top. The lid will SIT on top of the box, but I can't push it down...

I've never tried to use this on acrylic, but how about "Scrapper's Spray" by Creative Imaginations. I use it for vellum and actetate, and it drys clear, unless you spray a big glob of it.
