I really doubt they would use lead in the dies from China or any where else - not because of safety concerns, but because lead is one of the softest metals and it would not stand up to the pressure...

I would be hesitant to do that because my Misti has so many bad cracks all along the hinges and sides of the lid and platform I try to not put any pressure on the lid or any other part of the tool...
