I tried washing my mat and it never worked. I spray my mat with a very thin layer of Duro all purpose spray adhesive and it works great.

I lost a stamp once looked all over for it and found it in a small can I keep next to my work desk so I was glad I went throught before I took to the big can outside on garbage day.
