Can you believe this is our 3rd year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?! We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 & 2010 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2011! Let's keep scrappin'.
It was SO fun to see everyone's goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2011! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops...
What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process! Please feel free to join at any time!
Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person will post what their scrapbook page goal is for February. We will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month. Along with the scrapbook page goal for this month, if you'd like to play along with the "Using Stash Crew" decide what your scrapping budget will be for that month.
*In this thread, we'll track how we do for the month. Look HERE to share and track your Annual Goals. *
You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!
The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done, use more in our stash before buying new (well at least keep track) and if you want to play along w/ saving --- save $$ at the same time which becomes scrapping budget $ for next year -- or vacation money or Holiday fund!
Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2011 Scrapbook Challenge! Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends!
(Pssst...in case you're interested in the "history", here's the thread that started it all 4 years ago...
We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc11nov"

I'm SURE you will all agree that we need to go back and add in our focus on our scrapping budgets! It's a good time of the year to start as we'll all want some goals or resolutions to use more of what we have. Some of us have been using the "budget" idea since we started, others not so much. There are several ways to do this:
1. Set a $$ spending budget for the month & track your expenditures against budget set.
2. Match your scrapbook/stamping spending by putting the same amount away in savings that you spend on scrapbook/stamp stuff. This gives you extra $$ for either more scrap/stamp spending or something fun
3. Set a "Scrap to Spend" page goal. Come up with a goal to complete before you spend more $$ (for instance, "complete 25 pages before spending"
4. Do a combination or all of them!
Many times scrapping and stamping supply purchases are "impulse" buys. We want to encourage not only LOTS of Pages completed but creative, productive use of our STASH. Let's see if together we can be "CREATORS" and not just "COLLECTORS". (Thanks MP )
You do NOT have to set a budget to play along with Scrappin' Goal Challenge. This is only for those of us who would like to play
I will post our Scrap Budgets here...let's see if we can band together and encourage everybody to keep on goal

Oh my Heavens, I haven't done anythign except my SU! club to keep my demonstratorship going. I hope to just get two little pages done this month (so pitiful!). I am also going to work on my own Smash journals, I've seen some really neat ones on youtube and decided I might do better to "record" life this way and catch up on all my great photos later. Anyway, here's my lil' punkin on her first Halloween.

I have tried to find that scrap to spend or whatever thread and can't find it. And above it is not something I can click on. where is it? I think I am ready to quit spending money on anything except adhesive! I want to turn a new leaf over in 2012.
I don't need anymore stuff!!!! LOL

I did about half of my goal for October, so if I up my goal to 60 for November, does that mean I'll get 30 done? LOL! Just kidding. Put me down for 20, and we'll see how I do.

oh Lynley, she's SO cute! Smash Journal for now to keep up with fun thoughts and memories and scrap all the other photos later sounds like a GREAT plan

Lela, I think I'll go for 6 pages again for November. I have tons to scrap, but with the holidays sneaking up, I don't think I'll get many pages done. If I DO, all the better!
We're all so funny -- you'd think the world was gonna explode if we didn't scrap on schedule!
To meet my annual goal I need to do 6 pages in November and 6 pages in December ... something tells me this isn't going to happen this month with knee surgery on Thursday. Wendy does this mean Im gonna be the one who causes the world to explode LOL!
I dont plan on looking through the rest of Octobers Gallery and Novembers Gallery till next week. Need to have something to do when all I can do is watch TV, read, or stalk the gallery! Heres to a great scrapping November month to everyone.
November goal is 6 pages.

Ok, put me down for 24 this month, I have to get pages done in the albums I am giving as Christmas presents! WOO HOO! I have also exceeded my goal of 120...I believe I am at 122 but I know it is correct in my signature line

Oh my! October zoomed by!!!!!!! I really stunk at getting to my goal (I'm blowing a raspberry right now!). I didn't even take into account my craft show I had last month (which also stunk big ones). So I didn't even come close. But, as they say onward and upward.....
My November goal is 35 pages! Seems very very lofty for me but I would like to have 104 pages finished by the end of the year. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Looks like I may have to come up with a big number for Dec to reach my goal for the year!!! LOL
I was lamenting the fact to a friend a couple of weeks ago about only having finshed (at the time) 80 some pages so far this year. She said that was a great acheivement at 80, and I guess she was right.

I think she is right! Great accomplishment, Sharon! I had reset my goal from 60 to 100, and now I have done 101. But that is due to the 27 pages I did for VSBN ABC Book, which were 8x8s. I still have a lot of photos to get into books! I don't know if I will ever get them done. Then there is the fact that we keep taking photos!!! And all my boxes of heritage ones I want to do.
I think it is a loosing battle. But ,, I think the main thing is whatever scrapping I am doing, I should have fun doing it! That is the whole idea right, to do this hobby for FUN!
Sharon
November?? I have no idea how we got here, I'm not even kidding. I spent the month of October sick with what ended up a sinus infection, and quite unmotivated to do anything beyond what I was absolutely committed to. (which was still tons, of course) November will be BUSY with card making and gift making, but I AM making two calendars as gifts so I'll shoot for 24 pages?? Maybe I can do more pages once Christmas is ready to go..............ROFL!
Lynley, she is a doll!!

Sharon- I think 80 pages is fantastic! I dont' think I've done 80 in my entire life!
Part of my problem is getting started. I'm not a quick scrapper by any means, and I always want the pages to be perfect and so often I just don't start at all (get overwhelmed). Sometimes I also get hung up on all the "steps". Need to decide what to scrap, I get all motivated only to realize I don't have the pics in paper, only to pick out pics and order them, only to not be as motivated when I get them or just realize I don't have a paper colors... no printer ink for journaling. Ideas?

Lynley hope this helps. I thought I was the only slow scrapper, mainly I think because my OCD gets in the way and things have to be straight and if they arent it drives me nuts. I too have always had trouble getting started and trying to figure out what to do. I have found scrapping the following way helps me.
I work off two 12x12 scrap base pages. Pick out the pictures to scrap I try and keep them to a theme (walking down the aisle, etc.) and then print the pictures on my printer to the size I need. I copy my pictures to a word document, that way I can size them to any size and print several pictures on a 8-1/2 x 11 size of photo paper.
I pick out my designer papers that I think will complement each other (Note: I dont always use all the DP prints I pick out). I either create my own sketch using kids construction paper or I find a sketch that I like and try and adapt it for my pictures. Sketches are a jumping off point and sometimes my final layout is identical to the sketch but most times I tweak the sketch to fit my pictures. I cut out construction paper into the shape of the sketch and lay them out on the 12x12 base pages (I use these shapes over and over again). These construction paper shapes cut be enlarged or cut down to fit your page and you aren't ruining DP. Once I am done layering all the construction paper shapes to a sketch I like, I decide which of the DP prints to use on the construction paper shapes and start cutting my DP print. This has saved me from wasting DP many times. Then embellish!

I am glad to hear there are other slow scrappers out there. When it takes me 1 to 3 days to finish a one page layout that is a good record. And that is after I have my papers picked, my photos ready to go and most of my embelishments collected. I have all my photos printed at Sam's as it is too costly to print at home and I do not like the quality of work from my printer. I have a big supply of 12x12 as well as 8.5x11 designer paper and card stock. I can always find a design or shade that works. It is kind of like shopping at home to collect everything I need when I am motivated to scrap.
I am going to tell my intermost secret, I use a sketch to start my page. Last year I had a Becky Higgins sketch collections magazine (something like that) then I used every single sketch in that magazine at least twice. This year I am using Kaiser magazines, their monthly magazine has 3 to 7 layout designs in each copy.
Not only is it already laid out in a pleasing arranment, but they have embellishments placed too. NO, I do not have very many Kaiser embellishments and none or very few of their 12x12 papers. I try not to CASE the page, I just use the layout for placement of similar size and type product. Kaiser magazines are free and can be found at retail stores that carry their products.
Michele and Sharon,
Thanks so much for the ideas. I do go off sketches most of the time (at least as a starting point) OR I have a set of pics in mind and play until I like how they are laid out. When people say, "I completed three pages today" I am in total awe, I think there's only been one or two times I completed one page in a day. Most take me a couple days, or at least several hours on one day.
Lynley and Sharon ... my confession of a scrapper ... I am sorta casing Ryan and Staci's wedding scrapbook to make John and Jen's wedding scrapbook. I loved the look the first time and as the say going goes, why change what works ... LOL!

I missed my October goal by 2 so I need to aim for 16 this month and hope I make it to stay on track for my yearly goal! Thought I would get more done at my get away weekend but I only made 10 pages. Did get several Christmas cards and gift holders made so it was a productive weekend....plus plenty of talking and eating and fun!!
