I'm glad to see everyone's so busy! I am counting down the days of school and then maybe I can actually meet my goal!! I am only getting about 2 layouts a month done since Christmas. But, I am ready to kick it in to overdrive in about 3 weeks!
Does anyone have suggestions on how to put newspaper articles in my scrapbook? What kind of adhesive do you use? Should I use photo corners? Thanks for your input. I have 2 I want to work on soon!
Looking through the gallery here always helps me. As far as the pictures go - pick up the box and start looking through your pictures. The first set that 'speak to you' is where you should start (it will help get your mojo flowing).
I don't know if you are a single or double page scrapper, but if you go to Page|Maps, they have a lot of single and double page sketches with examples (the past ones are in the archive section). What I do is look for a sketch that will work with my photos, once I find that, I pick out the papers and embellishments and then you are all set to put your art together! Hope this helps
I can't step over my pictures to get me motivated. After I have sorted my pictures, I "wrap" them in paper and label what they are. I then put them into a photo box. That way when I feel like scrapping, I take out only one "envelope" and work on it. I don't feel overwhelmed this way as I'm not looking at the hordes of pictures to do -- only those on my desk.
If I have a trip or special occasion to do, that gets its very own photo box. All paraphernalia for that "trip" gets put into that box. I still sort the pictures like above inside the box. I then just take out one section and work on it until it is gone.
This just works for me. I haven't started my kids albums yet -- and they are 30, 25, 25 and 23! But I am mostly caught up on our two grandsons -- with another on the way Sept 2nd!
Great idea Deb. I have a box to put those pictures in that I have been stepping over. Sounds like a good challenge for me this evening!

I just did a page w/ 2 newspaper articles and I went and color copied them first. I wanted the look of newspaper but was told by another demo that Newsprint yellows over time and isn't "scrapbook safe". I made sure the picture touching the paper was matted as well. Works for now ;)

Lela how was prom? Hope it turned out well and that you got some great pics!
Thank you for asking Patti, DS said it was "cool beans" translated he had a great time. I got lots of fun picts of the 2 of them before so that was fun too. The weather while we were in MI was beautiful, it was nice.
I hope you are taking care of yourself with lots of rest!

Definitely copy it first and use the copy in your book...newspaper is made with very cheap paper and is highly acidic so it yellows very quickly. You could spritz it with the de-acidifying spray...I forget what it's called, they have it at Michael's...but it's cheaper to photocopy

I look forward to seeing more of your two-page spreads--they're always fun!
You should scan or have them photocopied. Not only will you preserve the quality of the newspaper and the other items on the page, but it will give you more options for how you display them.
I don't know how the time can go by so fast and I can be so busy. The last time I scraped was the begining of the month. At least I made a little time to finish a couple of pages before the end of the month.

Ok ladies, I need your help...I started haunting your blog in April. I posted that I didn't even know where my photos were (after moving a year ago). I did manage to find them, but haven't gotten the inspiration to get any of them into scrapbook pages. I even sorted some of them into piles which have been laying on my craft room floor for weeks now...I have to step over them to get to my punches...I was hoping having them out and "in my way" would get me to do something with them. But alas, they are still sitting there!!! any tips on how to get out of the slump and get started putting them on some pages???
I agree with Liz. If you've got your pics out and sorted, choose some that "speak" to you and that you want others to see and enjoy. Once you pick them, count how many you want to use to determine if a one or two or more page spread and then go to the sketches section to pick a sketch that would work for the amount of pics you have to scrap. Once I have that part down, I go through the variety and inspiration challenges here at SCS to see if any of them might fit into the pics I have and I go from there. Good luck and I hope to see some of your creations! Welcome to the group. We'll send you lots of encouragement along the way too!
I haven't been on here in at least a week, but last night I got NINE digi pages done last night so here are four.
The best part is May has doubled my scrapbooking for the whole year and! I'm not done! Stampin' Up! is offering discounts on their printing prices in honor of National scrapbook Month so I am trying to get this book done for my son before the 31st! I'm to November...I think I can do it! LOL!

Tanya, I left some love in the gallery. Way to go with the scrapbooking. I think you can, I think you can!
I promise I haven't fallen off the planet - just been busy over here. Got a lot of pages in the works and I've def. reached my goal for the month. Just need to do some finishing touches and take a few pictures.
On another note, my DH is deployed again. While this is sad for me, it gives me more time to scrap, so its not all that bad ;) PLUS when the husband away, the wife will....shop for scrappin supplies! LOL.

I wanted to let everyone know that Emily (stampingout), my co-host for the Inspiration challenge has decided to leave her position to devote more time to family. We'll sure miss her, but I'm sure everyone totally agrees that family comes first! Thanks, Emily!
If anyone would like to co-host the Inspiration Challenge with me, please contact me. Each of us would post a challenge just once a month.
I have uploaded a few of my pages that I worked on this month and I still have more to upload - 17 total for the month - 7 over my goal (which is good b/c I was way under last month). Comment if you want, but don't feel like you have to. I will upload the rest tomorrow if the sun is out for pictures.
Bring on the next month of new scrappin goodness! woo-hoo!

Whew, I just make it with another page for the month. I am still short but at still working and who knows maybe I can make it up next month. I don't think so, SCHOOL IS OUT! so no more time for me.
I will be taking lots of pictures of the activities that I do with the grand kids and be ready to scrap in the Fall.
This is one of the outing with my granddaughters, I had as much fun as they did.
**You will notice I changed the title slightly to : June 2011 Scrap Pages and Scrap Chat** I'm hoping that a title change will be possibly less intimidating for those who are occasional scrappers that just want to chat in our thread and scrap with us when they have time. Although we all know that our "goals" aren't serious/set-in-stone I was concerned that possibly new SCS members who scrap may not? LOL!
Just time for some slight changes

Ok, it's time to send out the 2011 "STASH SHARE Envelope". I have the following Players Listed:
* Kelli
*Patti
*Carson
*Tanya
*Deb
I have the first envelope ready. I'll send to Kelli, she'll take out what she wants, add in some items and send on...each person will get the opportunity to receive the envelope and share some goodies.
Since the Canadian Postal System may strike starting this Friday, we'll put Deb last (if that's ok?). So at this time, if we get no more players, Tanya, you'll send it back to me and I'll send it to Deb when we're sure the postal issue is taken care of.
