Hello all. I've been away since the first of the month after our home was broken into and my laptop was stolen. That was the only computer we had. Thanks to a very generous friend we have one on loan for as long as we need. Since all of my photos were on my old laptop (and like a dummy I didn't any 2009 photos backed up) I haven't been in much of the scrapbooking mood. I've been mourning the loss of my 2009 photos so to speak (yes, they are all gone). I can get a few back from the ones I posted on Facebook and some friends have given me some that they have of my kiddos, but for the most part - gone. I was hoping to see what you ladies have gotten done during the month and maybe I will get inspired to sit down and knock out a few pages.
Oh Haley, that is so aweful. I had my car broken into when I was pregnant with my first and they stole my cds. I'm a big music fan and burned a ton of music back when Napster was free. And I burned CDs for friends and they for me. So this person stole CDs that 75% of them are burned so there isn't much value for them, except for me. The doubly worse part was that it was the night before my birthday. So my birthday morning I woke up to find this. I didn't listen to music for awhile because its not the same when I couldn't choose the exact song I wanted because I no longer had it. Losing a year worth of photos is devastating. I hope you are able to get enough from friends and other places to feel like you hit the highlights of the year.

You are doing a wonderful job with the digital, Carol! I hope to not only get 'the hang' of it but to be able to 'hang on' to what I've learn!! Hope that makes sense ;)
I'm telling you Barb, once you begin to learn digi, it's very addictive. You'll want to do it all the time so you won't forget how to do something and if you do, there are so many tutorials and helps available to fall back on. I love the look of having my pics framed with white or color and that was taught in one of Jessica Sprague's classes...just had to go back to review it once or twice and now it's easy to remember!
That's so sweet of you, Carol! I have PSE6 or 7 but I have been working with the MDS from SU!. I need to devote some uninterrupted time to just sitting down and completing a page. I'm bad to get discouraged if it's not perfect and delete the whole thing . I may well take you up on your offer of the tutorial. Let me see how I progress with my MDS first. I have been corresponding with Wendy (digital QUEEN!) and she advises learning one program first. I'll keep you posted!
Oh yes, Wendy, digi Queen! I love her LO! My main problem right now is finding the right digi elements and papers. I need to find a better filing system. I think that PSE has a way to tag pictures so you can call them back up, but haven't gotten that far yet. Hang in there! I bet you are deleting lots of great LO!

I've been feeling quite a bit better and I'm way over my goal this month which is way cool.
--------------------
Carol, if you're going to use tagging, I would strongly advise starting now or it will TOTALLY get out of hand (which is where I'm at, but I just take the extra time to find what I want.) A good, free tagging program is Picasa. You can google it and get it free, plus there are tutorials about the best way to use the system.

Great PAPER LO, Mrs. Digi Queen! (btw, there are LOTS of digi queens here on SCS!!!) I too am so glad to hear that you are getting better!
Great advise on tagging, but it is WAY too late! It's already TOTALLY out of hand! Is the Picasa program you mentioned different from Picassa Web Albums? I really need something! I can't even remember what I have and if I do remember, I can't remember where it is! Right now I just put everything in folders according to the website that I downloaded it from.

Glad you are feeling better, Wendy! Adorable layout. Paper or digi, you're the Queen!!! Congrats on going over your goal, too!
If you ladies have some tutorials about tagging that would be great. I dabble in downloading digi freebies all the time (like I just downloaded the cute one at PageMaps). I have a lot of my digi stuff in folders, but it's beginning to get helter/skelter... any pointers would be appreciated!
THANKS!

At first with digi, I tried dividing everything in to categories...embellies, alphas, paper...then within embellies I had more...frames, borders, nature. But I decided I'm only going to do kits. So I download a kit and keep it together in its folder, I burn it on to a CD with other kits. I have a word doc that I put the preview of the kit into.
So I have Digi Sets CD #1 and then pictures of 9 kits. So I just open up the word doc, scroll down and pick a kit, then pop that CD in. I kept some of the really cool borders or swirls that are not color specific (black, clear, brown, white) to use on any page.

BTW, I received my inspiration word but just haven't gotten down to my scrap room yet. It's really cold down there so don't know if I'll make it tonight but will get to it this weekend.
Sorry for my tardiness this morning, I went for my walk and ended up helping my neighbor who had fallen into the ditch and hurt his new hip & leg. He is fine, just put me way behind on posting today's challenge.
Anyway... we have spent a lot of time this month talking about all of our goals, our diets, our budgets and our life challenges. We are coming to the close of our first month and often times this is when we realize that we have fallen short on most of our New Goals and determinations. This is the time when I like to re-group and re-direct my focus. So for our challenge today I have entitled it just that...
"Re-Group ~ Re-Focus ~ Re-Direct"
I know that many of us have those awesome single photo that we just don't quite know what to do with them... My challenge is for everyone choose one of those photo and follow the sketch provided for today's challenge. Your Challenge is to take that photo and use it as your main focus, gathering the ideas, colors and shapes found in that photo and re-grouping and re-directing those ideas into your LO. You can find the sketch at the bottom of this post and also in the gallery.
Please remember that a sketch is only a starting place, so feel free to tweak it to work with your photo. As you can see with my LO, I flipped the sketch because I felt it worked better with my photo. I also pulled some of the colors from my photo out into my LO. The main idea here is to re-focus, re-group & re-direct... AND HAVE FUN AT THE SAME TIME!
I'm tryin' Liz! My DH has Animal Planet on though and they've got a story on about a 18 year old boy being attacked by a bear on a hunting trip. He's lost in the woods and....well, I can't stop watching it!
I'll probably get a whole lot more done after he and the kiddos go to bed

Me too! Mine is still awake. I may go watch a short show and then come back. I always find a way to procrastinate....

You have a great idea. I too have downloaded a lot of digital embellishments, frames, paper, etc. I did my first fully digital page right around the first of this year. I would load it to my gallery but I promised my niece that I would not post it online. It is a great page, but it is showing her and her youngest DS making a strange face. It is hard not to post it b/e I am really proud of it, but a promise is a promise. I have to work on more pages.
I just got an offer from Lisa Bearnson (QVC scrapbooking and more!) for a scrapbook monthly kit. I was wondering if anyone gets a monthly scrapbooking kit? If so, can you tell me where and what you like about them? If you would like, you can PM me too

I have gotten different kits in the past. They are great as they have smorg of new product and sometimes personal little items that the person creates. Rignt now I am subscribed to Magpie Club and Taras kits are amazing!! She has Julie Bonner as a sketch and designer and she adds fabulous one - offs that she creates her self. For example she made the little felt tree on the card here. I truly enjoy these kits.
I have subscribed to others in the past, some were very expensive and some just were not my style. It may be a GREAT thing if you like what QVC represents!

Is this the one thru Ashton Drake? I signed up for one she does thru Ashton Drake. I've received the first kit but still trying to decide if it's worth it. You get everything you need for 3 dble pge spreads and a little extra supplies. There is also a booklet to show you exactly how to design the pages. it works out to be $5 per page. I think I could buy a lot more for that.
I got two more done before the end of the month... Remember This and Soft and... Soft and was a companion page to a page I made during VSBN titled Cuddly, so the title makes more sense when you know that! I am SO excited to have gotten so many pages done this month.. I think I did more this month than I did all of last year, so Woo Hoo! I also did a little mini album and some sectional dividers for an About Me class I am taking, but they're kind of repetative to upload all of, so I'm just including them in my numbers! Hope everyone is having a great day and lovin the gallery lately - beautiful inspiration all around
I've never done a monthly kit from her, but I've purchased a few album kits of hers through QVC... the kits contained a lot of materials but they were sometimes not the greatest materials... and there's not a lot of room for flexibility in some of them, so if you like to put a lot of personal touches in that can be hard. That said, you can generally complete them pretty quickly and the finished product is certianly presentable... hope that helps!
Wow!!! I can't believe I made my goal this month!!! Here are pages 14 and 15. Both are for Paige's scrapbook. I will soon head on over to the February thread and set a new goal. Thanks for all your kind comments and especially for all the inspiration this past month ladies!!! You rock!!!

I agree with Michele on the monthy kit...I rcvd the initial one as well. I choose not to continue because I thought I could make my money go alot further on my own.

I'm on the design team for Scraptivity. They do monthly kits. I think there are positives and negatives to doing a monthly kit. A negative is that they may have things in them that you wouldn't use or the style might not be what you would normally do. The positive is that they have products you might not try otherwise, and Scraptivity has a newsletter with tips, ideas, and pictures from the DT to help you get going with it. I know that you get way more product than the price you would pay buying it seperately with Scraptivity. If you buy kits seprately, you can buy exactly what you want and will use, and the style you want. But it might cost you more (assuming you are going with the same quality.) Just some thoughts.

Anyone else having trouble with SCS tonight? I will be scrappin tonight!!
Definitely yes. Glad it's not just me!!
I want to thank all of you who have wished me well and prayed for me these last few months. I'm still on the mend and still having problems with my hands, but MUCH improved. A month or so ago, I couldn't even pick up a piece of paper or use scissors or punches or anything at all! Now I'm actually starting to clean up my scrap area so I can plan a few more paper pages. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. This has been a haven for me. Such great people!!!
Here's a link that talks about Picasa (I don't think it's Picasa Album, but I'm not sure) a little. She refers to a class on Jessica's Sprague's site, but I don't think the class is free. There are other free tutorials about it online though, and Picasa 3.6 is free. I think it's provided by Google:
I have been on a business trip all week and yesterday was just crazy. I was hoping to upload my One Word but I can't get the gallery to cooperate. I'll keep trying. Thanks to Deb (I'm Hooked) I had a fun word to scrap!
Hope all is good! I will also update the Goal Page when I'm not having so much trouble w/ posting. The internet here is working sporatically, must be the storms. I'm supposed to be in Charlotte,NC on Monday...we'll see

Well I am almost to my goal of 16. I am planning to scrapbook all day tomorrow, so I think it will be no problem. Here is my 11th page for this month: Sick as a Dog
