Thank you so much for the great TUT. I also use the red tape and it is fantastic. Plan on using the TUT for xmas gifts in different themes. Again, thank you.
I am so glad your instructions surfaced again. These will make great door prizes for our Mother/Daughter luncheon. Wonderful instructions. Thanks for sharing.

Need one of these for my son--he has a dance group that is doing a Christmas exchange and he drew a 13 year old girl. Have to keep the gift under $5 so I decided to make one of these--I already own all the supplies, a post it coaster--again own all the supplies, and something with candy (ha don't own all the supplies because who can keep candy around?). Thank you for posting this way back in '06 but it is timeless and perfect with all the pictures etc. In a couple words--"it's awesome"
I just saw your post. Great tutorial. I have made the books before, but I never covered the inside or binding. Great idea for the book mark. Also I used rubber cement to attach the paper to the outside. I just cover both the back of the paper and outside cover, let dry and stick together. Then trim around the edge the overhanging paper with a x-acto knife. I wish I had found the books for $0.12!

Can't beleive this awesome tutorial was posted 5 years ago, but I wanted to add my little tweak if anyone is interested. Sorry if another poster has already said this...I didn't read through all the posts. On the font cover, I slip a loop of twill tape or ribbon under the cardstock binding cover to hold the pen or mechanical pencil. That way the matching writing utensil is always with the journal. If I use thin ribbon like organza or satin, there really isn't a bulge. If there is with thicker ribbon, I cover it with an embelishment. I have used so many tutorials on SCS to make awesome birhtday gifts for the parties that my daughters get invited to...thanks to all the posters who take the time to put up these tutorials.
Add me to the list. I've been saving my composition notebooks and didn't know how to cover them. This is WONDERFUL. Unfortunately I missed the big deal at Target too--trying to save on gas (prices) as my Target is an hour away.

Oh, this is neat that I saw this thread today. I just posted a composition notebook tutorial on my blog today. Here's the link if anyone would like to see it-
Glad people bumped this. I bought 40 full size comp books at Target when they were on clearance for something like 18 cents each!!! Thanks for the tutorial.
LOL So here we are 16 years later and those directions are a life saver for me!!! I am doing a baby shower for my daughter. She is finally pregnant after many rounds of IUI and we were thinking that the poor girl would never be able to conceive. I am going to make the mini notebooks as favors... THANK YOU!!!
God Bless,
Robin
