Hello and welcome to the Mix-Ability challenge. We love to help get you on your way to mixed media fun with simple and approachable challenges using supplies you already have from your crafting supplies.
This week's challenge is to
be inspired by the design and or making process of Chintz fabric!
History Points of Interest
- Chintz - A Hindi word chint, which means “speckled,” “variegated,” “spotted,” or “sprayed.”
- An ink that is painted or stamped on cloth and a glaze over the top.
- Ink is applied with a mordant, allowing the ink to adhere to the substrate. (I like to think that using a watermark inked stamp on paper and then rubbing pastel chalks over it is somewhat the same)
- The glaze creates a smooth and shiny surface.
Use whatever part of the chintz that sparks your interest! Remember to have at least two mediums to make it mixed media worthy.
When complete, upload it to your member gallery with the keyword "MIX572" so we can see it in the challenge gallery.
Enjoy the time!
