Ready for a new Mix-Ability challenge?!! We hope you're having fun with these! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!
This week's challenge is to use Versamark ink and craft chalks or Pan Pastels to make your project. Here are the steps (you can click through the photos):
1. Using a stamp, or stencil and sponge, apply Versamark ink to your page.
2. With another sponge, apply your chalk to the versamarked spots.
3. Erase any mistakes you make. Chalk is so forgiving!
4. Use your new piece to create your project.
Remember to use the keyword MIX45 when uploading your creations to the gallery, come back and post a link, and let us "ooooooh" and "ahhhhhh" over your works of art!

How funny! I just pulled my chalks out last week for the first time in yonks!
Actually for this I used challk pastel crayons scraped over my image, but same thing in the end .
Thanks for such a fun challenge, Ky - even if I do have chalk dust everywhere!! MIX45 Chalk it Up
I can work with chalk, but it doesn't work for me to use on VersaInk.
I gave this two shots and I can't do it... maybe next week! Have fun! LOL

I am going to ask a dumb question. Do you heat emboss the versa mark ink before chalking? I think I have done this technique before but can't remember.
thank you

No - if you emboss it, the chalk won't have anything to stick to. And there are no dumb questions! ;)

Are you using sticks of chalk or the little squares? Stick chalk is too hard and won't work. You also need a soft thing to apply the chalk with - a cotton ball, or a piece of foam sponge. Really light colored chalk does not work well for this technique.

I'm so thrilled with the awesome projects you all have made. Truly - they are little works of art! Don't forget this is a VSN weekend, so feel free to use this technique for those projects, too.
