Default MIX444 Side by Side {7/30/21}

Title: Side by Side
Hostess: Janelle S (a.k.a. Dizzymommie)
Keyword: MIX444

Peruse the MIX444 gallery and add to it!
Since all Challenges stay active you can join at any time old and new. Check out this week’s gallery for inspiration and then add your inspired piece to the gallery by adding the keyword “MIX444” when uploading to your member gallery.
The new challenge is to juxtapose a project with old and new! I know it sounds vague, so let me give you a few examples to get the ideas flowing. Think old techniques or old patterns with new techniques or patterns.
  • A patterned paper that looks like grandma’s wallpaper with today’s new style of bright stenciling and let them share the spotlight on your project.
  • How about old traditional images like book illustrations and new style thick-lined clip art style images. Think Peter Rabbit book illustrations and cartoon cute rabbit images.
  • Go the way of typography with traditional calligraphy and modern hand lettering.

When you complete a project for the challenge, upload it to your member gallery. Remember to add the keyword “MIX444” so we can see it in the gallery!

Hope this works, a nostalgic old-style image with a more modern sentiment treatment.
New-to-me technique, 3D embossing folders are relatively new.

This was literally an accident in more ways than one, and I'm happy it happened. A CAS MM piece. Thanks, Janelle. MIX444 Be Strong by ArtzadoniStudio at Splitcoaststampers by Lori "Artzadoni"

There are lots of things going on with how my card came to be. First, my card idea started with the Sketch Challenge SC918. Inspiration was also taken from other SCS challenges, plus I'm working on my "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking goal as well.

From this MIX challenge..."Side by Side", my strips are quite literally side by side and their patterns are a mix of two style eras...1) soft, old-fashioned florals that might be found in my great-grandma's wallpaper, and 2) other more bold geometrics or and patterns with edges that are of a more modern style! My mediums are: Copic Markers, stamping dye-ink, Wink of Stella-Clear (butterflies), plus a variety of papers.

Here is my card: Birthday Love!
