Happy Mix-Ability day! Are you ready for a new challenge? This week it's an inspiration challenge, and this is what inspired me... I can't even remember how I came across this blog post, since I don't do my nails EVER... but...
So I love how she:
1. Created a beautiful background, and then... 2. covered up some areas with a solid color to let the background show through inside a particular shape.
This is a common technique called negative painting - there are several different ways it can be accomplished, but it usually requires coloring OUTSIDE the lines so that the image inside the lines stands out. So let's try that! You can either layer with opaque paints or inks like she's done, or try one of these techniques:
On my cards, I started with some gel prints, then sketched (or you could stamp) an image and painted around the outlines with white acrylic paint.
Remember, for your project to truly qualify as mixed media, you need to use at least 2 different types of art media. You can click HERE for a list of supplies you could choose from. If you want to start these challenges in the pages of an art journal instead of a card, or on scrapbook pages, or on 3D items - please know - ANYTHING is welcome! We want you to learn and enjoy!
Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX124) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh! Go forth and create!
