Default Is this too much money for a 12x12 rack?

I found someone in my city that is selling a 12x12 wire scrapbook rack- the rack is one of those tall ones with 30 slots and each slot can hold up too 100 pieces of cardstock. He is asking $75.00 for the unit. Is this too much money?

I plan on converting my closet in my office to a paper area.

That doesn't really sound too bad actually. A bit beyond most budgets for a paper rack, but if I had the money I'd buy one

Price doesn't sound bad but I sold all my wire racks because paper tends to get caught in the wire and I had bent edges on a lot of my paper.

There is a way to make one. I saw it on You Tube. You buy the 6 wire mesh cubes from Target that you put together yourself, but you use 3 of the cubes to make the shelves. You dismantle 3 cubes, and place them in the other already assembled cubes. You attach the shelves with plastic zip ties (aka plastic tie wraps). I got a set of cubes at Target marked down to $14.95 and I am going to assemble it with my husband's help as soon as I get moved into my new craft room (converted from the guest room). I hope to do that next weekend! Yippee! I will try to post and let you know how it turns out.

that's a good price if it is in good condition. new, they sell for about $100. the reason i know is because i spent about a year researching every kind of craft room/sewing room furniture on the market preparing for my craft room set up.

(my research included closet maid/kitchen cabinets/asking here on scs, etc)

Let me ask you a question or two before you buy.....

Is this closet going to be your only scrapbooking space or do you get the rest of the room? Is space a consideration or not?

Or you planning to move in the near future and how do you like to use your paper?

The tall ones are nice so you can see what you have but they take up a lot of room and are bulky for what they can hold if the holder is the kind I am thinking of. You can also move it around by yourself if needed.

There are other styles of paper storage available depending on how you work or create. There is a legal size drawer type storage then you can use the top for holding tools or as a work surface. You can get those, used, clean and decorate them for cheap.

Or how about a cube style storage?
And there's another type where it has slot divider at every inch or so. You would need to sort these by colour or theme. These would take less room and hold more paper but then you can't see each piece of paper.

or how about a hanging file system.

Or if you have a handsome handyman in the family you could ask them to make something for you. ( sorry I do not have one of those at my house to lend! )

Think about it. And see what would work best!
Let us know how it works for you!

I was just re reading......

OH, I just calculated: 30 X 100 = 3000

Wow ! that's a lota paper! A lotta storage for the price!

A personal question... you don't have to answer in public.... How much paper do you have? Or how much paper do you wanna have?

If you fill it then you can't move it by yourself!

maybe put wheels underneath so you can vaccuum once in a while!

Just bought one of the tall 12x12 cardstock holder for $35.00! A lady had it, along with a large selection of crafting, card-making supplies. I made a huge haul and spent about $80 total for what probably would have been well over $200. I have sorted my solid paper onto the holder, but have read that some people place the sheets in plastic holder to keep them neat as well as to also keep all of the "scraps" we accumulate as we make cards.

I purchased this one from a store going out of business for $50. It retails for $150+. Maybe that will give you an idea. I LOVE my paper rack!

I think when our LSS went out of business she sold her's for $50 but I'm not sure. She had shorter ones and tall ones. I'm thinking the shorter ones were $40.
