Default storing punches

Hi, everyone!

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I could not seem to find it in the forum. Sorry. :/

I just ordered several Stampin' Up punches, and now I am having trouble storing them. I live in an apartment, and unfortunately, I can't drill through walls to install Ikea Bygel rods (no matter how badly I want to).

Right now they're laid on my desk, just so I can see them (and hence use them). I used to store my punches in drawers, but it was hard to see what I had, and so I was not using them as often.

Any suggestions/ideas will be great.

TIA!

How about making a foam board storage unit for your desk? Here is a blog page that shows two styles: Foam board . . . really!

I forgot to mention that you could also use tension curtain rods inside a bookcase and it will be very similar to using the Bygel rods - no holes to drill!

If you have horizontal space and like thrift shopping, this is what I have done for now. Apparently I picked up "wine crates" for punch storage.

gregzgurl linkd to my DIY punch storage thread. I actually mounted walmart cafe curtain rods to a pieces of wood (use short screws!), then attached that with 2 sturdy screws to studs in the wall behind the guest room door - so just 2 holes per board to fill after you take it down. I attached 2 separate boards, so 4 screws, but you could just use one piece of 1" plywood and only make 2 mounting holes.

A hanging shoebag works well. Like this:

Good idea!
I used an over the door shoe bag for years. I only recently outgrew it.

I was not ready to mount the Bygel rods permanently on the wall, so my husband mounted them on a board for me that I have leaning up against the wall.

I have the Ikea IVAR shelving unit as my workspace. I also have pegboard mounted on the back of it-so I see that, not the wall. I just bought some assorted size bins at home depot and have all my SU punches (both styles) in it. This keeps them close to be used, and they don't take up much space.

I just re-purposed a 3-tier wire basket type shelf. I had it years ago for something else. I also have some punches in a drawer. I have LOTS of punches.

This little shelf is about 2ft x 3ft, if that and it fits alot of punches. Some are hanging on the sides. Before this arrangement I bought home a VERY large, flat basket my boss was getting rid of and I stored some on the bottom and others were hung on the sides (whale type of punches).

I just look around and see what I have that looks like it would work. I love to re-purpose.
