I have been storing the ones that are on cardboard in a drawer, but it doesn't seem to be working. Just curious if you store them in a box or something else.
I have so many gems, sticky and non sticky, pearls, bling etc that I ended up going to the cheap items store and found some containers - clear, approx 12 inches long x 2.5 inches wide and approx 2.5 inches high. They were approx $2:50 each and I bought one for each colour I could think of and one for mixed colours, silver, gold, pearl etc. I have them sitting along a shelf thats the same height as my table. I found this a great way to put everything of the same colour in embellishments and buttons etc together. As i make a card I decide which colour and can just grab and pick through. This way I find I use the embellishments which I wasnt before. And I love looking at the colours in a row.
I tend to but loose ones from e-bay, rather than on cards. I found, also on e-bay, small empty nail art pots for sale that are perfect for storing them in.
Chris, I use pill bottles for the loose ones, which really doesn't answer your question. I store the ones on cardboard in a narrow shoe box. It doesn't take long to go through them, especially if you're looking for a particular color. As you can tell, I'm really cheap when it comes to storage solutions.
Since pill bottles are tinted, I just glue one of the gems to the top of the bottle.

I store my gems and rhinestones in the old SU! clamshell cases & separated by color.
This is what I am doing! I am purchasing the new plastic wood stamp cases, and using the old clamshell cases to store embellishments.
Working out pretty good so far!

I store mine in the new stamp boxes (large size) from SU. Full packages I just store in the box but when I get down to bits and pieces I cut pieces of scrap cardstock to fit in the box and trim the jewel acetate piece and glue it to the cardstock. The result is that I have a piece of cardstock with all the misc. greens, another sheet with misc. reds, etc. If the jewel has lost its stick, I run a strip of ATG tape on the cardstock and attach the jewels.
I store my Gems and a like in a cheap fishing box that has 3 large rectangle boxes inside that slide out and in each box it can be divided into small or med or large compartments. I love it because I just close the lid and haul it with me when I go somewhere to scrapbook or make cards. I have Gems of different sizes, pearls of different sizes, some handmade flowers and etc.
I started with $ store daily pill cases. 15 bins to a case. Put a dot label on top of the day with content. Now i have binders with binder sheets 9, 6, or 4 pockets to a page. I put brads, candy dots, eyelets, wound ribbon, letters, all bling in zip lock bags then into pockets of bindersheets. I organized by color mostly and a few speciality catagories I have many varieties of same thing, i.e lady bugs. Larger items go in larger page protectors.
When creating and need bling, i go to the color section and find all I have to choose from.
Most of my bling is on cardboard so I store them in a photo box. Large full card sized ones in the middle, woozy at the back etc. It has enough room for some gems that are in small containers too. My sequins are so far few enough to live in small plastic bags inside a larger Baggie to keep them together and this also lives in the box. My beads are separate, because I also make jewelry, in a box specifically for beads with mini containers inside. It wasn't cheap but works great!

Just like Dianainsparks and buriedtreasure I use the photo boxes from Michaels and for the little buggers that get loose I store in empty prescription bottles. I just Bling them up with the color thats in the bottle and set them on a shelf. Though I think I may be plceing all those bottles into another decorative box from Michaels since I seem to have quite a few. But it keeps all the loose ones in one place by using those bottles and they are "FREE"! My kind of storage!
I liked this idea so I made the switch. I bought 1" binders as Staples and I needed 2 for all my pearls and jewels. It was an easy switch as I already stored my pearls and jewels on cardstock that fit the large SU stamp boxes. The one drawback is that the sheets can fall out of the page protectors. I'm thinking I'll wrap an elastic band around the top so the pages with the jewels don't fall out.
Next I'm going to see if it works for the few stickers I have left.
In the Big box stores, in the sewing department, there are packets of 1/2" circles of velcro. I use them on the top of my page protectors. Under $3.00 for more th an 50.

Great idea - thanks! I have a huge roll of Velcro so I can do this with little effort. :p

Thanks for sharing this idea. :p
Awesome! and thanks for sharing the need to put something on top to keep all the little pretties in there. I hadn't even thought about that. I got the binders today to do it this weekend. I'm excited to have them in an easy place to use them.
I also have my brads, eyelets, in binders. I used binder sheets that hold baseball coolector cards. Put brads and other non sticky ot flat bling in mini zip lock bags and slide them into the pockets 6-9 pockets per page. I file all by color. If im looking for a red trim i go to the red page or pages, etc. Smalll amounts of ribbon wound on a die cut card also fit the pockets. Bindersheets come in all configurations and i use two, four, six and nine to a page to file just a out everything including dies and embosding folders.
If you file by color or themes that you use often you can see at a glance all you have that might work for your project. Good luck and have fun.

I didn't make the change after all because all my sheets are cut to fit the page protectors so there is no room to add the Velcro without cutting down all the sheets AND moving the jewels. I ended up using an elastic band. :p
