I've bit the bullet and got into Copics. I've been looking into storage ideas and thought I'd share pictures of what I ended up using/making (for now anyway).
I liked the idea for the foam board tower that I saw online here, but really liked the basket idea that I was using (temporarily). So here's what I came up with.
It's semi-portable and still organized. The basket is sturdy enough so I can carry my markers with me.
Horizontal storage though Copics can be stored vertically or horizontally.
I measured my basket. Did a little math. Sketched out what I wanted on the foam board and cut it with a sharp Exacto knife. I had tried cutting the foam with a box cutter and that idea sucked. A sharp Exacto knife and a quilting ruler did the trick.
Instead of messing with hot glue, I chose to do slots that fit together.
COST: Less than $10. I picked up the basket on sale and the foam board is ueber cheep
Very nice. I just got 3 sets of 12 Ciaos and 6 Sketch markers. I need to make something for storage. I want it big enough that I don't have to make something again as I add more markers. Yours looks good. TFS
FYI... I've got just over 150 markers in there with room to grow. The basket is roughly 12x7 inches. If I do outgrow the basket, it's really cheep to make another divider grid for a bigger basket.
I posted this in another post but since you are talking Copics, I will show you what I did...I love it! I have all of the markers in this case and have room for 15 more. (I saw this on another blog and the person who made the original one posted on the other post).

What brand or size is the case and did you make the grid?
Thanks

possibilities- i used this same method to make a large holder for my paint brushes. good brushes cost a bundle! and they last longer(forever) if treated right. always dry standing!
I am having a hard time visualizing the ceiling grid. I went to Lowes website and didnt' find anything that looks like that. Can you explain a bit more?
My copic storage is here and I need something better for dividers, I am grown out of my cuttlebug embossing folders!

What the grid is called is "parabolic louvers." When I searched it I found numerous sites. The stuff comes with squares from 5/8" to 1 1/2". I think the 5/8" would work, but the 3/4" might be better. Here is what it looks like. Lowe's or Home Depot should have the stuff. I plan on getting some to make a storage unit. I also saw JoAnn's has the ArtBin Super Satchel on sale this week.
hey, this looks good, my stuff is in storage right now because I'm in the middle of moving and won't see any of it until probably Nov. but I'm going to need something like this....Thanks
I finally made a box for my Copics. I made it from 2 20x30 sheets of foam core that Michael's had on sale last week- buy one ($2.99), get another for 1 cent. I was going to get the ArtBin Super Satchel Double Deep, but it was $40 - 1/2 off at JoAnn's then $15+ for the light grid. I'd rather spend the money on more markers. Still have aways to go to fill it.
I made the storage case with the Double Deep ArtBin from Joann's and the florescent light ceiling grid by "Plaskolite". You can purchase it at either Home Depot or Lowes and it's rather inexpensive, around $12. The lady who posted instructions for it is under a thread in Organization called "Ultimate Storage Case", and it's very easy to do. The grid holes get cut 19 x 19 holes and you can cut them with wire cutters or a real good pair of kitchen scissors. It was pretty simple. Terri or Erin's instructions on that thread were very easy to follow or even modify for yourself. It fit's perfect in the bin without having to cut any extra, and another follower, Barbara Jay has some good suggestions to modify it as well.
Mine works just great and it beats all the plastic cases I had them in since I had both Sketch and Ciao markers. This is a dream to use and you can carry it without anything falling out. I got the bin on sale at Joann's for $19 and the other materials were cheap at Home Depot for the hardware. So good luck, the hard part is putting them in the case in order....that took the longest time!!!!
