Hey gang,
I am so excited about this SWATCH book I assembled. I took the lead from Jennifer McGuire's blog, (see my blog for the link) but I absolutely love it!
I think everyone should make one to see just how many inks they have, and see which ones they go to often! It prompted me to purchase more inks in the colors I was missing, and to steer clear from colors that I own too many of.
Come take a look, and let me know if I can help you make yours! It was so much fun to do.

Well done! I did a stamped sheet of all of my colors, but I've since disposed of some and added some and this method is more easily update-able. I saw it on JM's blog and thought it was a good idea then but never did it, so thanks so much for the reminder!
I also ordered these pockets from Amazon after seeing the video on Jennifer's blog.
Sad to say, what arrived were packs of 2 5x7 pockets per sheet instead of 20 2x2 pockets. Someone had mistakenly put scan bar stickers for the 20-pocket sheets on the 2-pocket packages, and didn't pay attention when they were picking and packing.
I immediately initiated a return, but also worked my way through the system to talk to an actual live person. With not knowing how many of the packages were mis-labeled, returning and getting new packages might have had the same issue.
The order was from the cheapest Marketplace seller, fulfilled by Amazon. So they have supposedly stopped sales of 20-pocket folders from that seller until the labels can be fixed. I was all excited to do this project, but now want to wait until the cheaper packets are available again.
Oh well, thank goodness that it's so easy to return with Amazon!
FYI, I just ordered a 20 pack of identical 2"x2" coin pocket page protectors for this project from a reputable eBay seller for $5.99 including Free Shipping. Should be here by Saturday, so that's a savings, small, but a savings.
After seeing this on Jennifer's blog, I made a set of three for Distress Inks. One for each of two stamping friends and one for myself. They are beautiful! I am so proud. Now I am completing these for my other inks. It is amazing to realize how many inks I really have. The editable page works well. I owe Jennifer a big thank you.
I did something similar with my Adirondacks and Distress pads, but I used small tags that I threaded onto a keyring. Actually, they are large old hoop earrings, lol.
I inked each one, then overstamped in the same colour with a small stamp. These just hang on a hook by my desk.
I seem to remember that Jennifer McGuire had a ring system before but I liked the page protector one better.
I can't visualize solid vs outline color differences so I used business card size blanks and stamped a solid image and one that was not solid on my ink sample card. I then put it in page protectors with business size pockets. That works great for me.
I use book rings a lot and have for years but for me this works better. I don't worry that I've taken a card out and forgot to replace it. I can tell when I have a blank pocket and might have a missing card.
I wanted to add that I just used a paper cutter to make my cards and I left about 1/4 inch extra on the ends. The original reason was I was lazy and didn't feel like making one more cut but the outcome was a little bit that sticks out of the pocket just enough to make it easy to pull it out when I want to see the samples next to each other. I don't have to work hard to get under that plastic edge and pull out the card. I just hand write the ink info because it's only for my use.
If you go back to the first post and click on the word SWATCH. it will take you to my blog. There you will see my swatch book, and another link to show you Jennifer's Swatch book.

I also copied JM but I ordered the wrong plastic sleeves. It turned out really well! I did this for my SU cardstocks. I also made some for my SU customers, I think they will like it & hopefully they will buy more cardstocks 😀. It's easier to do this since I just use SU decorative punch. My next projects are my ink pads & markers!
I followed Jennifer's lead, too, and just made an ink swatch book. I love it!
I am going to add a piece of matching cardstock if I have it behind the ink swatch so I see it from the backside of the clear pages. That way I can pull out both when matching colors.
What stamp are you using for the swatch? Also, it might be a good idea to stamp a line of the color too because line images and solid images show the ink differently.

When I did my ink samples, I used the butterfly from Stampin'Up!'s Priceless set, because it has line areas and solid areas - win/win! I just did a sheet of everything I had at the time. I plan to make a swatch book similar to the ones being discussed here, but will probably do the business-card size, stamp the butterfly and ink the edges on one side, then do a solid "swipe" of color on the back. That way, I'll be able to see how it looks used in several different applications. I already have rings of cardstock, and I stamped in bleach on the back of those so I could see what color they bleached out to (or if they even did). I have as much fun doing projects like this as I do making actual cards and things - am I weird? Let me re-phrase that (I already know I'm weird): Is that weird?
