I saw the Workbox!!! That would be a lifesaver for me and maybe my husband would be able to get his clothes off the closet floor since I took over his armoir for stamp storage. Yes I'm a thief, I steal furniture from other rooms to help keep myself organized but that plan seems to be backfiring.
My work station consists of 2 small filing cabinets that we pushed together then went to lowes bought a piece of wood and slapped it on top for a desk. My "desk" has so much on it that I have hardly any space to work.
Above the desk we installed 2 shelves that are beginning to bow a little from the weight of all my supplies I have on top. I've had to remove all the paper from these shelves before they ended up collapsing.
On the floor I have a filing tote that holds paper, a scrapbook bag that holds anything I can shove into it!!!
A computer desk that no longer holds a computer (that is what the dining room table does now) is my paper storage and tool storage and then there is the printer stand that is shoved under the desk as more paper storage and envelopes and anything else I can hide under there. Oh and lets not forget the other filing tote that holds MORE paper shoved underneath. The thing that concerns me about all these supplies sitting out is my 4 yr old can get to them and while I don't mind him making cards too I don't like him having access to the scissors and other sharp things that have to be moved quite often out of his reach.
Come around to the other side and there is the Armoir I stole off my husband to hide my stamps in. He slowly lost a shelf at a time till I took it all over. I have 2 large bookshelves that used to hold actual books on it till I ran out of room and the books have now migrated to the damp basement so the bookshelves can hold more stuff I NEED!
I stole the nightstand from our bedroom because I needed more drawer space and still had to go out and buy a rolling cart to hold more stamps.
THE ROOM IS WALL TO WALL FURNITURE!! This is not a big room I'm talking about either its only 9 x 10!! Some people have closets bigger than that. :(
So the WORKBOX would be my lifesaver and all the other furniture would be able to return to its rightful place and perhaps I should join a I'm a paper hoarding, craft supply, can't own enough stamps junkie support group for my ever growing addiction.
there are so many punches to one shoe holder I'm afraid they are going to start ripping.
oh don't forget to notice the 1980's hair scrunchy on the door knob...lol..that really has nothing to do with supply storage but it was used to tie off my bathroom cabinets when my son was a baby LOL How it migrated to this room I have no idea.
It doesn't show in the photo but the bottom shelf has a slight bow in it from the weight of the paper that used to sit on it. The little 4 drawer cubes are so stuffed full that I had to start sitting things on top. Hanging above the desk holding ribbon is a bathroom catty with additional MS ribbon holder on top of that. The little cubes underneath I picked up on qvc to hold all the brads eyelets and things, they actually fell off the wall once...what a mess that was.
Underneath used to be jam full of paper and supplies but it blocks the heating vent and having the heat blow on the paper wasn't good either so I had to move some of it.
Oh also notice the 2 boxes at the back of the desk...I'm so desparate for storage that I MADE 2 boxes from cardstock just to hold MORE STUFF...gems, scraps and anything else I feel like throwing in them
Its now my paper/tool storage. The one caddy to the right holds the scissors and things I don't like my son getting into so I put it in a silverware caddy I picked up at Target so I could move it easily out of his reach.
As you can see I had to add boxes on top to hold additional things, photos, cards, etc. The thing is they sit up there and I forget about them so they never get used. :(
This would be nice for you so you have all or most of your stuff in one place. Then you could eliminate some of your furniture & maybe get a bigger desk/table to work on. I definitely think you are deserving! Good luck!

Ladies let me tell you, I've been in this room and when she says it's small and crowded she isn't lying. If Wonder Woman had to do her spinning clothes change thing she'd have to go out to the hallway... or maybe the bathroom if Carrie's stuff has trickled out to the hallway. Give her the Workbox so she can spend less time stealing furniture and more time creating!!!

I think I'll put on my 1980's hair scrunchy and Flash Dance around my room...Oh wait I can't do that if I do I'll break a leg or an arm on a piece of furniture...please give me the WorkBox so I can break out my inner Maniac and create like I've never created before ;)
(who's old enough on here to get the flash dance reference lol)
I really need this scrapbox....just last night while trying out my new circut Winter Wonderland cartridge I swear a tornado blew through my room while I was trying to create. I needed to adhere the paper to the cricut mat and with the desk piled full of STUFF and the cricut pulled out on the other desk and papers falling to the floor I had no choice but to get on the floor and press the paper to the mat and then decided to stay there while I retrieved some rogue brads that decided to make their escape. Oh how I wish this morning I would have taken a picture to show the mess that spontaneously erupted out of nowhere in the middle of my creating but I was too frustrated to think...so please scrapbox won't you come home to WV where you are much needed and loved.
- How often would you anticipate needing to close it all up so it would be tucked away and out of sight?
- What would your approach be for keeping the work area uncluttered so you'd continuously have open crafting/work space?
- What else would you do to the area you'd place it in to augment it (since our craft supplies exceed our capacity to store them, WorkBox or not! - LOL!)?
- Based on the photos of it, what if your favorite nook or cranny in it?
Oh, Carrie,
I thought my nickname for you, Effybella was soooo appropriate until I saw those photos of your craft space!! As efficient (Effy) and organized as you are...spring cleaning, fall cleaning, planning ahead for everything, I was shocked at the state of your crafting supplies!! While I see the attempts at organization there, I agree....YOU NEED THE SCRAPBOX!!!! And with that metal rod in your back, the desk looks like the perfect height for you to be able to stamp and scrapbook without too much pain. Good Luck, Girlfriend!! :-D

My approach to keeping the work area uncluttered if I were to win the Scrapbox is to first get rid of at least 2 pieces of furniture and pare down my supplies a bit and truly use what I have. I know not all my supplies would fit in that wonderful WorkBox but a good many of them would allowing me to get rid of the old computer desk and the stamp cabinet. It would also allow me to be able to reorganize everything else I have and work more effieciently. There are times I spend more time searching for things than crafting. lol My true goal is to get everything off my makeshift desk so the only thing on it is what I would be currently using for a project. Even though I poked fun at the desk in my description it is my favorite thing in the room.
I would love to be able to put a tiny table in there for my son to craft on with me, he loves making cards when Mommy is making cards and I have a small shelf with old paper, stickers and pencils just for him.
My Favorite part of the WorkBox is all the drawers. I truly am an organized person...if you were to see pics of the rest of my house and then look at the pics of my scraproom you would say what happened in here...its just I don't have the funds to completly overhaul the room like it needs to be which is the whole reason for stealing furniture from other places lol. The WorkBox is my organization dream!!!! Just looking at it I can visualize what supplies of mine would go where and how that would allow me to get rid of certain things already in the room and reorganize what I have.
As far as the question how often would the workbox be closed....that would vary but I do keep my work space clean, it gets straightened up after every project so I guess it would be closed when I wasn't working on a project. It would have to be closed when not in the room to keep my little one out of it cause trust me he would think everything in there was something he needed. lol

I craft because I love it. I started scrapbooking 14 yrs ago when all you had to choose from was stickers, decorative scissors and basically construction style paper. (the bottom shelf of my bookcases hold all my scrapbooks most are overflowing) Those albums are scary LOL but I kept with it and changed as the times changed, learned from reading magazines and books. I started card making about 6 yrs ago, and then my SIL got me into stamping 5 yrs ago when she became an SU demo and that was it I was HOOKED!!!! I love it, its my sanity at the end of a busy day/week, its stress relief, its a joy. I love to create.
When I first started card making I had no clue what to do with all my finished projects then my SIL told me about SCS which not only fueled my creativity, and my buying of supplies LOL but also gave me an outlet to share my creations. About 2 yrs ago on here a woman was asking for pen pals and a bunch of us jumped on board (over a 100) and while the orignator (and many others) of the Kota's Pen Pals no longer participates the group still stayed together and I have made many wonderful friends from here on SCS through that group that was just started in the Gen Forum. So every month I write about 14 or so letters in one of my handmade cards and mail them out to my Kota Pen Pals. I've also donated many of my cards to the troops, and race for the cure. I just can't stop creating even when I really have no need for a card so I have a HUGE stash of them and I feel it a waste for them to sit here and not be used so I donate them. I've also recently joined the RAK group here on SCS so I had another outlet to share and hopefully put a smile on someone's face when they open their mail and find something else in the box besides a bill or flyer.
I Rarely buy a card from the store anymore (I won't say never since I have purchased a couple here and there but I try to pull from my own stash first)all my family and friends receive handmade cards from me for birthdays, holidays, thank yous etc. I even started my own Facebook Card Swap group because I love creating so much and we're on our 3rd swap now, its been a lot of fun.
I create scrapbooks for my Mom and MIL which is usually given to them for Christmas and Mother's day. I make mini albums too from cd cases, folded CS etc for them on top of keeping up with my own scrapbooking....yes I am one of those people that is actually caught up/current with their scrapbooks and I'm proud of that.
As far as my projects impacting the world at large...I just hope when someone opens a card I sent them it makes them feel happy that someone was thinking of them at that moment. I know my mother treasures every thing I give her...she's my MOM what more can I say And for me, there is nothing more precious than pulling out the scrapbook I did when I was pregnant and my son's first year and looking at how fast he changed. That scrapbook is my most treasured posession, it took us a long time to conceive and we thought it was impossible so to pull that out and follow my pregnancy and the miracle that happened 4 1/2 yrs ago brings tears to my eyes every time. And now my son is at that age where he is fascinated about his baby pictures so we look at it together and I tell him the story of how much he means to us.
