How do you store your floweres from: Prima, Wild Orchids and Iamroses
Need help or ideas on how to store these floweres. My collection has been growing so i need some ideas from those of you who have a larger collection.
Thanks
My larger flowers go in plastic boxes - one box for each colour -as they're plastic I can see the colour I need straight away. I like boxes cos they stack!
My WildOrchard flowers go in a set of smaller plastic boxes which fit inside one larger one(does that make sense?!) - I use the bottom only so the smaller boxes are all kept in line but I can lift them out easily. I've glued one of each flower to the top of the box so I can easily see which is which.
Not very high-tech but it works for me! I'd love them in glass jars cos they're so pretty, but I've got my ribbons in glass jars and I'm running out of shelf room.......
Smudgeroonie: you mentioned that your ribbon was in jars. I wish I could remember who posted this wonderful idea below. I have pictures but can't figure out how to send them to you. I organized a plastic garbage bag of unwound ribbon and it fit in two drawers. If you want me to e-mail you photos of mine, let me know.
“To begin, I purchased one of these three drawer units from Michaels for around $10.00, a package of small black hair rubber bands and purchased a sheet of mat board which I cut down into pieces measuring 2.5″ wide by 2″ high. I decided on the matboard because I found cardboard bobbins you can purchase at the craft store to be too small and too flimsy. I divided the drawers into four sections by putting in three 13″ pieces of matboard and anchoring them with tape. I rolled all my ribbon that were lengths of 5 yards and less onto the bobbins that I had cut. Now, just a warning, the rolling of the ribbon takes a little bit of time. I saved it by rolling when I was watching TV and even carried a small bag of ribbon and bobbins in the car to roll while I was waiting in the car or at the doctor office.
But here’s the thing…..it’s amazing the amount of ribbon one three drawer unit will store! One drawer can hold 140 rolls of ribbon; this particular unit is storing more than 400 rolls of ribbon!! I love this storage because I can pull a drawer or the entire unit and set it on the edge of my workspace.”
I keep my flowers in the plastic containers like the ones that the wood mounted stamps come in from SU ( or clam boxes as they are called). I put all the same colors together and then put the colors on the end of the container, this works very well for me. When I have a Make & take workshops the gals attending can find them easily. I do not put anything in glass containers because accidents happen and I do not want anyone to get cut.

I bought plastic screw top jars that you can find at Michaels by the storage cubes and split my flowers up by color: pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black/grey, and white.

Thanks so much for this link to Becca's site. The above post was copied from an older post and at that time I didn't know it was Becca. I had since learned who developed the idea, but didn't read my post to notice that I hadn't acknowledge her in it. Such an amazing crafter and organizer!

This is how I have mine stored...I am a "color" scrapper (don't really care about manufacturers), so this works for me! Plus it looks pretty sitting on the shelf!! LOL!
I store my flowers in 2 plastic shoeboxes (bought at Walmart for about $1 each). In one box I keep all my white, yellow, orange, and red flowers. In the other are green, blue, purple, and brown and black.
The boxes are large enough to rifle through the flowers and see them all to find the ones I want to use. Putting anything like the flowers or ribbons in jars just doesn't work for me. I always had to dump out the contents of the jars to find what I was looking for. So needless to say, I keep all my ribbon in shoeboxes, too.

These are the same ones I use. Bought on sale at Michaels. I liked the way my flowers looked in their original milk bottles, but they were not easy to get them out, look through them, and put them back in. So I got these at M's and really find them so much easier. And of course I hung on to the milk bottles for future use. Michaels had clearanced the prima flowers out a while ago to replace them with their store brand. Same looks tho. I bought at least 2 in each color, so I had a lot of bottles.
I have been using Joanne fabrics snapware plastic mini totes, they stack nice and are totable. They have them on sale often, and usually get the 3-stacker and store by colors, putting mini flowers into ziploc snack bags, inside totes Snap 'n Stack Craft Organizer Small Square-3 Layers*: storage*: home*: Shop | Joann.com
It works for me, as I don't have the hugh selection of flowers, some of you crafters have; still it is very sufficient

I found jars that are similar to the jars that sarahwms (post#12) uses...but I think mine is a little bigger. I ran into these jars at a garage sale for $1 each. How could I pass them up? Wasn't sure what I was going to use them for when I bought them but knew I could always find some way of using them. LOL!!
Vintage canning jars with the flip lids, sorted by color... You want the wide mouth jars if possible because you can get your hand in to play...
(same system for vintage buttons also)
