Harbor Freight Turnstile on steroids ====> Tim Holtz' version
I came across these pictures of Tim's 2013 studio reorganization. Looks like he bought this from etsy and then gave it his TH style vintage effects? Has anyone stacked a few of these together? Just wondering if it'll hold up all loaded up or topple over easily?
I don't have one yet. Certainly has me thinking. Talk about everything at your finger tips if this tower was right next to me at my desk.
I remember seeing Tim talking about this in a video sometime not too long ago. It was, as I recall him saying, a rescued item from a workshop- I think it was originally used to hold tools or machine parts,or maybe it was for nuts and bolts etc, so it's not the 'crafting' version thats available. It was a real heavy duty piece of kit.
Just did a search, and it was bought on Etsy, but it is a 'proper' piece of old equipment, full size as you see it. HERE is the blog article.
Yep, that's one heavy duty piece of work! But way cool!
The Harbor Freight one is nowhere near that quality. I wouldn't even try to stack two together. But I would like to have one on my sewing table for my smallest quilting projects. Hmm.
What if you put a heavy rod through the middle. Or attached to a wooden base. I have one harbor freight rack and I love it. Now my "wheels" are spinning in my head

Yeah, I don't think Tim's is the Harbor Freight either. I bought my son in law the harbor freight one and although it's good for a desk top. Tim's looks like a much larger one stacked from the floor if my eyes aren't playing tricks that is. I do like Tims though... Heck we all love Tim's stuff period. lol
oops... I see Shaz posted the blog. Nice. I wish I could get lucky and find the stuff he does..... but I guess with his funds now, it's fairly easy to find these finds..lol

I have the Harbor Freight one on my desk and it is useful. I would not attempt to stack two on top,of each other. Tim's piece is built that high to begin with, and an amazing find!
I think Tim's looks like it is on steroids and boy would that not be cool. I do not have the harbor freight, I have the old fashion Pampered Chef tool holder. I hated it at first and then my dh had me take everything out and he fixed it so now it spins and boy does it spin.
Might Uline.com have something like that? I saw one like it at an Antique store. It was holding candles and I asked if the bin was for sale and she said no that it was a store display. Uline has stuff similar to that.
Thanks ladies for confirming that it's not the HF one. It would take something quite substantial to be able to stack like that and take on the daily wear and tear of it being spun and handled while loaded up.
Wouldn't life be grand if we all had Tim's spending budget and, I'm sure, business status to write our crafting supplies off on our taxes?
I got one today. They only had 1 in stock. Besides the 75 screws it had to assemble it, it is PERFECT! Love it!!
Lol! I remember assembling my HF spinner- DH was shocked that it came with so many screws. Thankfully he put his two hands (and brain) in to help me assemble it.
