So unfortunately for me and my family the roller coaster ride continues with my daughter's mental illness. Please pray for my family as we are headed into a storm.

Share with us:
(1) why you craft
(2) what you do with your completed handcrafted projects, and
(3) what the biggest impact any of your projects has had on you, someone else, or the world at large!
Hello Thumbunny! Here are the answers to your questions:
(1) why you craft?
I craft because it takes me away from the very stressful life that I live and I have a 15 year old daughter who is mentally ill. We have to monitor her 24 hours a day so she will not harm herself or others. I also have a two year old that has chronic aspiration (liquids go into her lungs). So I spend my time going from therapy appointments to psychiatrist appointments to lung specialists and the list goes on. I lost my job in April because of my daughter's conditions. My papercrafting takes me away and lets me be me and do something for me while at the same time making others happy when they recieve my crafts.
I craft because I love to see the look on people's faces when they know that I put love and personalization into whatever I make. I craft because I love it!!!!
(2) what you do with your completed handcrafted projects?
I usually give them to others. I love to make stuff for other people. I love to get mail, don't we all? So I send a ton of mail out to friends, family and even strangers that need a pick me up. I love papercrafting because you can personalize it!!!!
(3) what the biggest impact any of your projects has had on you, someone else, or the world at large!
This one is hard because I believe my paper crafting has influenced many in a positive way! My projects have made many people smile!I hear all the time that people display my work and show their friends, family and co-workers. I have inspired friends to join me in my art of paper crafting!! I have made good friends with my paper crafting! I make my own invitations for every birthday party for my children. I make all of the cards to put updated pictures of my children in to send to family and friends in addition to all of the standards, birthdays, Christmas, Holidays even Groudhogs Day!!!! My Husband and daughter have helped me as well so it is great family bonding!!!! I entered some of my work into the Sandwich Fair. I entered in eight categories and placed in five. That made me feel so good. It made me feel like I am actually good at something!!!!
Thank you for asking!!!! I thought about withdrawing this morning because we are having another rough patch with our daughter, then I thought about it, I really need this beautiful Scrapbox just as much as anyone else and even more than some. Thank you again for this opportunity!!!!!

I really wish I could have been more attentive to my thread but unfortunately things are really bad right now. So I am checking in when I can. I want to wish everyone the best of luck in this contest.

cmccoy,
Congrats to you on making to the final 10! Isn't it exciting?! I really appreciated reading your good wishes when I logged on an hour or so ago and learned that I made it to the finals (what a surprise!)
Please know that I'll keep your family in my prayers and if you win, I know that the Workbox will be cherished and appreciated in your home. I just ask that you share pictures if you win, so we can all celebrate with you.
Best wishes,
SammyKu
You definitely have my vote. You should PM me sometime and we could vent. I am going through alot of stuff as well and possibly facing lymphoma or leukemia and I'm 32 yrs old and single with 2 boys one with aspergers. I use crafting as my outlet as well to escape and keep from going totally crazy!!! I really really hope you get it. I know alot of people wamt it and some deserve it too but I can really relate to your story. Will be praying for you and hope you get the box. It will help you to feel a little less out of control I bet. {{Hugs}} Sarah
Thanks so much for your support. Everyone seems to have Cheerleaders rooting for them in this contest. I am an underdog! I would love to chat with you sometime. Letting some of it out in this contest has helped me!!! Please tell all of your friends and family to vote for me. Put "Vote for Cmccoy" and the link in your signature. It would really help me out. I do need this Scrapbox!!!
Thanks again,
Carrie

I am in tears after reading your post. Thank you for your support. Sounds like you have been through the ringer as well! I wasn't even going to say why I needed stress relief when I entered this contest. We have been leading a horrible secret life. I am in search of hope. This Scrapbox is a material item and I do know that but it would give me some freedom. Some of the old me back. It would be stress relief because I never get to go down to the basement and paper craft. All of us who made it to the top ten deserve to win!!!! I can say although it would make me happy beyond belief to be the winner I can see the odds in the polls and I do have the "woe is me story". The truth is I need my papercrafting, I need it. I love it and it is something I am good at!!! Unfortunately "Woe is me" and for the people who are upset that I shared my story or think that I shouldn't have opened up, thank your lucky stars you don't walk in my shoes!!! Believe me everyday that this contest has gone I have thought about dropping out because it did get negative. But that is okay, it is what it is. I take my life one day at a time that is all I have!!! I am thrilled that I made it to the top ten!!! But most of all I am so happy to be making new friends!!!!
Best Wishes,
Carrie
P.S. It is funny that you mention the lady that has the son with tourettes because she has been on my mind as well. In fact I was rooting for her to be in the Top Ten. I would love to help her in any way possible. My heart goes out to her!!

Hello!! Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to boost my votes??? I have alot to make up to be a contender here. Thanks for all of the support and votes so far!!!

I am so honored to be a part of this contest! I am very deeply saddened that it has come to this!!! It is funny how competition brings the worst out in people. I have enough negativity in my life I don't need it here. I don't have time to focus on this contest as my main focus is my children. That is why I entered in the first place. I do not have many friends here os SCS and the winner will clearly be whoever knows the most SCSr's. I am just sorry that such a wonderful thing can become so ugly! I hope whoever wins this Scrapbox will appreciate and enjoy it as I know I would. I still will check in periodically but I am not going to let this get to me! I have bigger fish to fry!
XOXO,
Carrie
