3 kids, 2nd one moving out, so...... I get to move my stamp room out of the basement. My biggest dilemma is what color to paint the walls. I will probably use most of my existing furniture which is wood. That is ok because I have natureal red oak hardwood floors which go from very light to very dark. I want to paint my walls one color and my trim another. Have no thoughts on this at all. What have you done? Is there a rhyme or reason to this? Please comment even if it's just your favorite color combo. It might inspire me.
Thanks, Jeneen
Our bedroom furniture is a medium oak finish and bedroom colors that looked really nice included peach and a yellow (similar to SU's So Saffron). I also think that a celery green would be very pretty.
What a fun dilemna to have!
ETA: The peach and yellow were not together but rather at different times/homes witht he same bedroom furniture.
I painted my room So Saffron (with white trim), and loved it so much I used it again when we moved. And I'm not even a 'yellow' person. I could also live with something like Baja Breeze if I had to do it over again.
Do you have windows in the room for some natural lighting? I am very particular with that because I want to see the colors in their real hues. I'd stick to white walls and pick another color for the trim that will match the furniture/organizers that will be in the room. My craft room is pretty small, so I have black and white color scheme (white walls and cabinets), with red accents.
I chose a pretty aqua color for my stamping room walls because I wanted something bright and pretty to help me be creative. My furniture is white. When my DH finished painting the room, he asked if I liked it. So I asked if he liked it and he said it reminded him of his grandma's house when he was a little boy! I love it - the color is relaxing to me!
Kelly your room looks so lovely and light. Unfortunately the room I use (well end of it) has only a small window and I am at opposite end of it. The other end is kept as a bedroom and it is better to have bed etc that end and as it is usually one of my young grandchildren who use it , I think it is easier to say that is Grandma's space and you cannot use things there. They are only two so don't want them into my inks etc. They also don't have to go through it as it were to get to bed or play with books and toys in there. Anne
I love the colors others suggested. I am going to do a lot of painting this summer, and am considering a lot of those colors myself.
OP - I heard a wonderful piece of advice once. Go to your closet and find the one most favorite piece of clothing - the one you can put on and feel awesome in. It is likely a great color choice for your room.

I am a fan of buying oops paint from hardware stores because you can get high quality paint for super cheap. Recently I picked up a Ralph Lauren oops paint in a pale green. So far I have only done one wall in my office but I love the color and plan on using it to paint the rest of my walls when I get time to move all the stuff away from the walls.
I love bright, light colors, colors that make me feel awake and happy when I look at them. I had an office one time in a room that was very plain with dark heavy furiture. I had a hard time working in there.
I ended up painting my studio white because there is only one window in the room- it's an east facing room. So it gets pretty dark by afternoon. The white paint has really brightened the room up a great deal. Plus it helped calm down my mish-mash of furniture.
Jeneen, I am in the process of moving out of the basement too! Both kids gone now and I took over the larger BR with more windows. DH painted walls Lowe's Valspar "Frosty", which is a little lighter than Cool Carrib. Trim is eggshell white. Very similar to the two other posters with pics of sea blue below. I was really inspired after we returned from a great vacation to the Bahamas! I'm painting my mishmash of furniture the eggshell and bought some jetmax units. It's still a work in progress....
Gail, my room is so much a work in progress too. When I was in the basement there was only so much I could do, now there is so much I can do. I'm really leaning toward the celery green. All the paint samples I picked up at the store, I find myself leaning toward the green. We'll see, buying paint tomorrow, I'll probably change my mind again before then.

Thanks for everyone's help. Love the pics. I think the saffron would have been my second fave.
Went to buy paint and went with the celery. My room is small. Maybe 8x10.
One window, 47 wide and 51 tall (it's large). I am going to put shelves in the closet and back my desk up to it so the closet is behind me. I want everything out in the open so I can see it. As of now the only thing concealed will be my sewing machine. I will take before pics and after. Am painting tomorrow, early. Want to have most of the room put together by tomorrow night. We shall see. I can't wait to see what the cxolor looks like on the wall.
