Default Big Marvy punches

How do you all store these? They take up a lot of room. Any bright ideas?

I got rid of all of mine, but I used to put smaller ones inside a CD crate turned on its side and sitting on a shelf, then put the big ones on top...

I only had scalloped squares and tags and a file folder, and they've all been replaced with dies - so much easier to store!

My punch collection literally doubled last year when a friend gave me all of her paper punches. I hang them on Bygel rails from Ikea. I mounted the rails on pegboard and, with the help of my son, hung the pegboard on the wall. I've found that if mine are tucked away in a box they won't get used.

These punches take up a lot of room and they are super heavy. My lower rail is a bit bent because of the punches on top and the baskets full of punches below. I've made a deal with myself. I can only have as many punches as I have room for on my rails. I can fit one more punch. After that, I need to get rid of old to make room for new.

Thanks Sue and Melissa. I had a few of them, but just recently succumbed to buying 3 graduated sizes of snowflakes. I have snowflake dies, but "had" to have the Marvy snowflakes punches, lol.

If you are trying to make room, I have a home for that round tab punch! LOL

That is one of the punches my friend gave me. I didn't think much of it when I first got it. It's not a flower, not a tag, not any other pretty design. But it has turned out to be one of the most used punches I own. It's great for labeling sections in reference books (video games, craft notebooks) and I bet I'll get plenty of use out it when I really get into my art journaling.

Yes, you'll get lots of use from it. Its one of those punches that everyone wants but its retired and hard to find! Lucky you! I've seen people cut the punch out and staple it to the top of a piece of sponge used for well....sponging of course! LOL

Just yesterday I switched to putting mine in dresser drawers. When crafting in the center of the room I will open the drawers so they are within sight. Previously they were in clear plastic shoe boxes and that worked okay but still hid those at the bottom of the pile.

I use 2 iris sets of drawers. I lack wall space tto hang but love the idea. All pictures I see never have fiskar punches--the squeeze type handles. How does anyone store those or am I the only person who has them. Even the company has no pictures of a group together.

I have at least one or more of the fiskar punches as well. Good point! Mine are just in a drawer stored flat.

You don't see the Fiskars punches in my photo, but they are there. On the bottom rail I have two IKEA Bygel baskets. In those are my Fiskars squeeze punches, Creative Memories punches and a few other small punches.

I store my punches in a 24 pocket shoe bag over my door. Now I have one on EACH side of the door! I organize them by shape. I found the 24 pocket shoe bag at Big Lots.

I had this idea too. And have been looking for these pocket shoe bags, but haven't been able to spot any yet. Will keep looking.

Thanks

Mine are see-through also. I love that I can see the punches all the time so I don't forget what I have. However, that didn't help when I bought 2 circles the same size! 😊

When I get a punch, I punch out the shape and put it in the appropriate pocket. Then I use that sample to see if it is the right size or shape.

Just thinking out loud... For smaller punches maybe shower curtain plastic. It comes in heavy weights and water clear. Then sew it onto canvas. Grommits on the wear points (top side of each pocket and on the bottom). So a mini shoe bag that's better able to handle the stress of punches. Tried to draw an example attached.
Reading this. Im thinking of the hanging jewelry bags that were around a few years ago. Not sure if they are still in style

Marshall's/TJ Maxx/Ross still carry them...
I forgot to mention earlier that most of my punches are on a media tower from Walmart. I got some extra pegs an some thin wood to make extra shelves for it. Here's a photo before I rearranged everything (again):

The Martha Stewart punches are 2-deep on the shelves. The corner punch of a punch-around-the-page set is in front, with the edge punch behind it. There are two sizes of these at Walmart, and this is the smaller one. It is a very small footprint and very useful. I'm thinking that these would be just fine for your big Marvy punches, too...

Ikea Bygel bars attached to the wall. However, we're moving and in my new craft room I'm going to put the bars on peg board as shown previously.

My shoe bags are heavy duty. They have held those heavy punches for 2 years or so and no tears, so far. They have 4 grommets at the top and came with 4 over the door hooks. I really like the see- through pockets. I have 3-4 of smaller punches in 1 pocket.
