You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
This week I have chosen to honor one of my favorite Book Artists on Flickr. Her name is Ruth Bleakley. Ruth designs the most beautiful hand crafted journals, artistic book designs, and creative paper arts. I really love book art myself so I latched right onto her Flickr Portfolio as our inspiration site on Flickr this week, and even spent some time reading her blog. I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it! Since I don't have a guest hostess this week I've started you off with a mini book design. (I will be playing along with you all on Saturday, so I will upload a card as well tomorrow.) Please don't feel pressured to make a book, because her inspiring creations are more than appropriate for card and scrapbook page designs as well. I hope you will have as much fun as I did browsing and being inspired by Ruth's work! (She also creates and sells cards and stationery - but I didn't select that store to make this more challenging for us - smiles.)
Challenge Goals: Don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because an image on Flickr reminds you of it. Rather, take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow based on your impressions when you look through the images. Remember, it can just be the color palette or style that ignites your creativity. Whatever draws you to the designs, take the challenge of doing something uniquely inspired today .
For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many images to choose from, I've uploaded five of my favorites...so just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger. Please let us know which photo served as your inspiration piece please.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.
Another fascinating and inspiring choice, Audrie. Loved the photo of the marbling process! I've bookmarked at least 5 photos in case I have more time - but I think I'm going to take one of your thumbs and use Swallowtail!
Audrie you find some of the BEST sites!! I'm just mesmerized by Ruth's books..so much inspiration!! It'll be hard to narrow down my choices!

I realised that if I logged into Flickr I could favourite a few things which is easier than bookmarking them. But I have to make a sample for Monday's TLC and a card for a teen nephew so I may not get back. But what a wonderful site - it inspired me on many levels.

Audrie- what a super site! I was inspired by Ruth Bleakley's wonderful Coptic and Caterpillar Stitched Garden Journal with its wonderful greens, leaf shapes, and beautiful details. I used a Inkadinkado frog stamp, and hand cut some "marsh" - adding a lillypad- with some sponging and coloring added for more detail. Finished with a bow and a button. Here's Froggy Hellos

I was inspired to make a journal- especially by the triangle motif in Ruth Bleakley's journal here- I went with a metallic paper combined with some golf themed gift wrap- and made this birthday journal for my dear brother John. Here's John's Journal

I rarely get to play around with this challenge but I absolutely loved this week's inspiration. I created a masculine greeting full of wildlife. Thank you.
