Hi Everyone! I am a transplant from Southern California moved to Manitowoc July of last year.
Would love to meet some stampers/scrappers in my area. I mostly scrapbook but do have lots of stamps that I am "collecting" so I thought i would join to get some inspiration and use them.

Hi there, Kate!
I'll admit, I also have many (many) stamps I've 'collected' ... and at some point, when I sit down and actually stamp, I'll have a wonderous selection to choose from, won't I ?! LOL! (I am known, on occasion, to actually stamp ...)
Manitowoc ... I've not been there in ages, but in my memory it's a pretty place with a lot of fun things to do ... yes? I'm Madison way. So. Cal! What a switch! How are you doing? DS is now in San Fran ... he loves it and I love to visit.
Welcome!

Yes, Manitowoc is a beautiful place to live. It has been a change but well worth it. My DH is originally from Manitowoc so he has family here. Me and the kids moved out here a year before my husband. He retired from the Navy on June 15th so he is now living with us. He has a brother who lives in Sun Prairie, is that near you? I just miss my scrapbooking friends and the get togethers we use to have. Thanks for the welcome!
Welcome to the area ( a yr later). I hope you have enjoyed your move to WI.
I love to stamp (when I have time, which is getting to be less and less). I find it to be good therapy.
We are having a stamping shoebox in Aug. This is a fun time to stamp and meet some new ppl. I don't know if is within your driving but check it out. The link is under my name for the 2nd annual shoebox. If you have any questions about it or if you are interested, let me know.
Again, welcome to WI.

Hartford isn't that far from Manitowoc, it's a beautiful drive and easy - Hwy 43 to Hwy 60 - Welcome to Wisconsin, I hope to see you at the Hartford Shoebox in August!

OMGoodness! I've taught in SP for 22 years! I live just south of SP in McFarland.
I can relate with missing friends and the get togethers to scrap (well for me it was stamp). I had two friends on my street who were also stampers. We'd gather at one another's houses, chat and stamp away. Good times! They've both moved. I know I'll find a couple of new friends to play with and so will you ... but I think I'll always miss Linda and Sally.

I'm about 60 miles from Manitowac! I'm in a tiny little town that is centrally located between Madison, Milwaukee and Appleton. I wish I lived in Manitowac or even Sheboygan! I love Lake Michigan!
I also lost my stamping buddy who lived across the street from me. She moved and it has never been the same! We always got each others opinion on all our projects, so it took me a while to be able to actually stamp without input from someone else! I actually still miss her company! It was really hard when she moved!
Welcome to the curds~!

My husband is originally from Manitowoc. We now live south of Madison. Is there still a stamp section inside an art store downtown Manitowoc? If so, they may have stamp events where you can meet others.
nope there isnt. I dont even think there is an art store downtown anymore. There is a scrapbook store (Lakeshore Scrapbooking) here in town. They have all day crops some weekend from 10-10. I havent been able to attend any but I am now that my husband is living with us permanently. Hopefully I meet some other scrappers/stampers.

Hi Bobbie,
I'm jealous! You live in the town that's home to two of my fav stamp stores. The Cracker Box Palace I love, love, love (and did you know they can make stamps for you?! From your sketch? I love it!) and the Scrapbook Memories Store ... sooooo many stamps (I'm not a scrapper, but sooooo many papers). I bet either place might know of folk getting together to play in some fashion or another.
Another CURD, mel, has a calendar of stamper events all around the state (it's a community project, people need to let her know what's going on in their neck of the woods, so it isn't a total/complete list but anything a CURD knows about is on there. lol!)
So ... welcome! to WI, to SCS, to CURDvill. Feel free to consider yourself a CURD.
Happy stamping!

Welcome, Bobbie! Janesville is definitely close enough for a day trip to meet a bunch of ladies and do some card making with (about an hour from Janesville, I think) - check out the 2nd Annual Hartford Shoebox. There's a Splitcoast thread under "Get Togethers". About 10-12 CURDS (Creative Utterly Ravishing Divas Stamping) will be there and it'd be a great time to get to meet people!
Hey Jeaniebean, are you still in Madison? Maybe it's time we all get together there again - the CURDS have nothing going on in September as far as I know.
thanks for the invite to this shoebox stamping...for right now it is still a little far for me to drive to until I feel more comfortable in the area, and the fact that I have no car and must rely on borrowing my sisters car for now:(

Duh! I meant to include the link to the calendar earlier ... dang CRS! lol! here it is: Stampin Around WI (thank you Mel!)
Hi Diane! Yes, still in the Madtown area. Seems like houses aren't selling all that well these days ... who knew?! It's still on the market, but if nothing happens in another month I'll be taking it off and staying put for a while. Kinda changes a few of the details of my three year plan (sigh...), but not the big picture. In the meantime, it's hard to plan too far in advance anything stamping related. I keep hoping to be packing things up.

Welcome Bobbie and all the other newbies. Love the see the Curds growing. We definately need to get some more gatherings as we always have such a great time when we get together.
My Sister is visiting from CO this week and has scheduled a lot of work for Mom and me...working on all the little 'projects' around the house that Mom and I can't seem to get done. Renee is a worker bee. Will see how alive I am at the end of the week.
Have a great Monday everyone.

Hi scrapb I am from Jefferson just north of Janesville. We go to alot of the scrapping events in the area if you would ever like to ride with me you are more than welcome to. The Curds are a great group of ladies to be with and are sooooo talented. Can't wait for you join us sometime.
Took my sister up to Beaver Dam yesterday and we were stormed chased all the way home. Strange feeling to look where I was driving and see nice daylight, etc. and then look in the rear view mirror and see nothing but BLACK sky.
We made it home, unpacked the car and got in the house just before it rained hard. Luckily are area did not get the flooded streets...not sure about the farmer's fields. Checked in my brother in Waukesha and he said they were fine...no Lake Wabash this time.
Hope everyone else is safe and not in one of the 'sink holes' showing up.

Goodness, Robyn! Glad you made it back home and not by way of Oz!
I had a showing smack dab in the midst of all the craziness. The sirens went off just as I was pulling out of the driveway. Decided the burger from Culver's drive through maybe wasn't such a good idea. Hung out at the local library instead. Got a good book out of it (mathilda savitch by Victor Lodato), even if I came home drenched.

now, if you get an offer out of it too, then you will really remember the day!

nice weekend for a road trip I think I may try out the Cracker Box shop in Janesville. I actually do have a stamp I've been itching to have made.
Thanks Jeannie
Are there any other Wisconsin stampers heading to CHA this week? I will be there both days and would love to meet up with any of you at the show or before or after for a beverage or bite to eat. I plan to meet some other SCS'ers on Friday at 2:00 at the SCS booth. If anyone is in the show then, come on by to chat! Or, PM me for my cell number and we can meet another time or place. I am heading down on Thursday to shop at IKEA and Woodfield Mall. Friday morning, I have been selected to do one of the focus groups from 11:00-noon, so I will be in the show after that. I am so looking forward to seeing all of this--I am sure it will be a bit overwhelming--I remember the first time I went to the Madison stamp show in November--that was a lot to see. Now, take that times 10 and I guess you have CHA!
I'll be there from Mon. thru Thurs. for the trade show. I've been helping LuAnn of Stamp N Plus Scrap N all week to get ready for CHA. See my gallery for samples of her new stamps. I'll be posting more samples tomorrow. Am hoping to go on Friday and meet up with some of my SCS swap friends from out of state. My Friday plans are still tentative at the moment.
Woohoo!!!!!!! I think I've sold my house! (kinda feel like a mom-to-be in the first trimenster, though ... there are some contingencies to satisfy before it's final.) If all goes according to plan the house will have a new family by the end of the month.
I'm still wrapping my head around realizing that I may indeed (finally!) be moving on to the next chapter in my life. And that the place I'm so familiar with will have another family knocking around it's walls and yard ... happy/sad sigh.

I am so happy for you Jeanie. I know you have waited a long time for this!!!
I am in Milwaukee, waiting for my new grand baby to arrive!!!!
Hugs! Elaine
Elaine, I can't think of a luckier baby to be able to have you for a gramma ... although truly, you really CAN'T be old enough to be more than an auntie. How exciting!
Robyn, Barb, parkn (who's name is totally escaping me right now!) and any others heading to CHA ... we'll want the deets when you're back. Have a blast!

Oh Jeanie that is great. Hope everything goes good without any hitches. I.m so happy for you. Diane D
Hi you! We must've been posting at the same time. I was just thinking about you. Many thanks for the good wishes/thoughts. Sunday is the home inspection. I can't imagine any issues. Not sure how long after that before I hear any feedback.

Appleton Area Stampers interested in an SU Stamp Club?
Disclaimer: I am not a demo. I'm a stamper trying to get a club going.
We are trying to get enough people to have an SU stamp club. We need 3-4 more people. It would meet once a month for 6 months. You agree to order $25.00 worth of merchandise each month ($30.00 if we only get 5 people) and once during that time, you would be the hostess for the club and get the hostess benefits for having a $150.00 show. We would make 3 cards/projects each time we meet.
And how cool is that?! Did you ladies bump into (What IS her name?! This is driving me crazy! I'll think of it, I'll think of it ... She hangs with Sandy ... ahhh!) parknslide? (or Robyn, or any other WI folk?)
Paulette!!!! (Woohoo! Proudly overcoming her CRS for a moment ...) Did y'all bump into Paulette?

Back from CHA. Thanks to Jennie and Barb for letting me hitch a ride down and back. I was in a focus group from 1:30 - 2:30 on Fri. Had a great time, saw a lot, visited with some new friends, and brought home a boat load of free stuff.
Missed meeting up with PS and a few others...just never seemed to connect. Maybe next time, more of us can go.
