Heheheee... you're referring to the HUGE metropolis of Carl's Corner, where you can get Willie's bio deisel, and occasionally see a show. Yup, that's not far from the outlet center.
Hehe.. that cracked me up thinking Willie shops at the outlets -- imagine him at Mikasa, picking out new china!

Born and Raised in Houston Area (Kingwood). We finally made our dream come true and relocated to the Texas Hill Country. Now we are in Wimberley. Any other San Marcos Wimberley area folks out there? Any one going to convention?
Per my DH I will be a Texan someday!! ("got here as fast as I could" you know!)
He was born and raised in Dallas, I was born and raised from Kentucky to California!! In So Cal now, but someday, when the right job for DH comes along, we will be in the Great State of Texas!! I'm good with that! George Strait lives in Texas....so can I!!

Moved to Texas when I was 12...I'm now 4..... Opps, I almost told...LOL.
Moved to India last September....Gosh I miss Texas!! Can't wait to be back!!!
But I have to tell you even half way around the world us Texans just seem to pick each other out!! I think at least 6 of my clostest friends here are from the Lone Star State!! Love ya'll!!
Willie Nelson is actually from Abbott, Texas which again is just down the road from Hillsboro. There used to be a sign that said, "Abbott, Texas, Home of Willie Nelson" out on I-35, but it's gone now.
I'm another Texas Native. Born in Amarillo. Lived in Andrews, near Odessa, for 30 yrs. Have also live in Eastland-Ranger-Cisco area, the DFW metroplex, Tyler and now make my home in Paris Texas.
Thought all you true and adopted Texas might enjoy this.
When you're from Texas, people that you meet ask you questions like, "Do you have any cows?" "Do you have horses?" "Bet you got a bunch of guns, eh?"
They all want to know if you've been to Southfork. They watched Dallas, and, a myriad of movies that were filmed here. They also remember movie stars that WANT to move here: Tommy Lee Jones, Sandra Bullock, and many others.
Have y'all ever looked at a map of the world? Look at Texas with me just for a bit. That picture, with the Panhandle and the Gulf Coast, and the Red River and the Rio Grande is as much a part of you as anything ever will be. As soon as anyone anywhere in the world looks at it they know what it is. It's Texas.
Pick any kid off the street in Japan and draw him a picture of Texas in the dirt and he'll know what it is. What happens if I show y'all a picture of any other state? You might get it maybe after a second or two, but who else would? And even if you do, does it ever stir any feelings in you?
In every man, woman and child on this planet , there is a person who wishes just once he could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride in a pickup.
There is some bit of Texas in everyone. Did y'all ever hear anyone in a public place go, "Wow...so you're from Iowa? Cool, tell me about it?" Do y'all know why? Because there's no place like Texas.
Texas is the Alamo.
Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of Mexican nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed instead to fight and die for the cause of freedom.
We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and James Bowie and Crockett and do y'all know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they decided to cross it and be heroes. John Wayne paid to do the movie himself. That is the Spirit of Texas.
Texas is Sam Houston capturing Santa Anna at San Jacinto.
Texas is Tex-Mex food and Texas Independence Day.
Texas is huge forests of Piney Woods like the Davy Crockett National Forest.
Texas is breathtaking mountains and desert sands loaded with great Cactus in the Big Bend.
Texas is the unparalleled beauty of bluebonnet fields in the Texas Hill Country.
Texas is the beautiful, warm beaches of the Gulf Coast of South Texas and Texas is the shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas.
Texas is world record bass from places like Lake Fork.
Texas is Mexican food and Barbecue like nowhere else, not even Mexico.
Texas is the Fort Worth Stockyards, Bass Hall, and the Astrodome.
Texas is larger-than-life legends like Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Waylon Jennings, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Landry, Darrell Royal, ZZ Top, Eric Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, Steve Martin, Denton Cooley and Michael DeBakey, Sam Rayburn, George Bush, Lyndon Johnson, and George W. Bush.
Texas is great companies like Dell Computer, Texas Instruments, Advanced Micro Designs, and Compaq.
Texas is NASA.
Texas is huge herds of cattle and miles of crops.
Texas is skies blackened with doves, and fields full of deer.
Texas is a place where cities shut down to watch the local High School Football game on Friday nights and for the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, and NIOSA River Parade in San Antonio.
Texas also holds ministries such as Lakewood Church in Houston, John Hagee in San Antonio, Kenneth Copeland in Fort Worth, and T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House in Dallas.
Texas is ocean beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies, and modern cities.
If it isn't in Texas, you don't need it.
No one does anything bigger or better than it's done in Texas.
By federal law, Texas is the only state in the U.S. that can fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. Think about that for a second. You fly the Stars and Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland, California, or Maine and your state flag, whatever it is, goes at 17 feet. You fly the Stars and Stripes in front of Pine Tree High in Longview at 20 feet, the single, simple blocks of red, white, and blue pattern of the Lone Star flies at the same height -20 feet.
Do y'all know why?
Because we place being a Texan as high as being an American down here. (it is the only state that was a republic before it became a state, that is the reason I was taught).
Our capitol is the only one in the country that is taller than the capitol building and the San Jacinto Monument is also taller than the Washington Monument over there in Washington, D.C. and we can divide our state into five states if we want to! We included these things as part of the deal when we came on.
That's the best part right there.
If you are a REAL TEXAN you won't need to be told to pass this on.
hi everyone, I'm new here in just the last few months. I'm from Gatesville in Central Texas.
Born and raised here but have moved a couple of times to Denton for school at UNT. Loved it there..
Originally from north central Kansas. Very small town, 16 people in my graduating class. Anyway, June 1 I will be a Texas resident for 9 years. Will I make it to 10??? I miss the snow and cold.

I live in Justin, TX. It is just NW of downtown Fort Worth. So when you are watching Nascar and they are at the Texas Motor Speedway you can say I know someone that lives just across the street from that.:???: When they are here I just stay in the house. You can't get out of the subdivision. IT goes from a small town with no stoplights to over 300,000 in a week.
I am originally from Zion, Il. Then moved to San Antonio, TX, Henderson, NV, and St. Paul, MN. Now back in Texas. I truly miss the Midwest. I can't stand the cold but I would rather be up where the lilacs are. I miss the springtime and all the fall colors.
I would love to get together with anyone who is near by!!!!

I discovered it's not what the world holds for you, it's what you bring to it.
I am originally from Nebraska and would LOVE to get together with any north texas gals. I live real close to 170 & 35W and have a decent sized craft room if anyone wants to plan an evening of cropping/crafting/gabbin - just pm me. Also is anyone going to the Scrapbook Convention in Arlington next weekend? I have never been and am wondering if it is worth it to go and just walk around - anyone know?
Julie
Hey Julie. I don't live in North Texas but my daughter does. I am suppose to go this weekend there & we are suppose to go to the convention. I saw where Mamak had a thread going about it. There are several people going. I will pm you when the day gets closer to let you know if we are going. My MIL is very sick right now so everything is up in the air for me. Maybe I can find the thread for you. Let me go look....
Hello, fellow Texans! Although I was born in London, England, I consider myself a full-fledged Texan. I grew up mostly in San Antonio and now reside in Austin.
My MIL was also born in London and moved to the states! Now she proudly calls herself a Texan! We both live here in Canyon Lake - twenty miles from New Braunfels and forty miles from Austin.
I was born in Corpus Christi and have lived in Texas all my life!
OK, so I see some gals that live near me! YIPPIE! Maybe we need to get together! I need friends! ;) I live north of Fort Worth (about 15 min north of downtown Fort Worth). I think I"m about 20 min from Justin. We actually have friends that live in Justin.
That would be great. Right now I don't think I will be able to go as DH is on call this weekend. Of all weekends for it to be his turn it has to be this one. :(

I don't know how close you are to Flower Mound (I am fairly new to this area) but I would love to get together, I need friends too. ;)

Thanks meemee48 for that awesome reminder! I've lived in Texas all my life and relocated from Austin to Dallas three years ago (what a culture shock!).
You know, I always found it interesting (and a source of pride) that whenever I was abroad and someone asked where I'm from, I, along with just about every Texan I know, said "Texas" instead of "The United States." I never once had someone ask me where Texas was - they always knew. They also would regularly say, "Ah, Texas" and then add something they knew about our great state. Gotta love Texas!
What is that old Sam Houston quote about Texas joining the US? Goes something like this - Texas may not need the US, but the US needs Texas.
Is anyone near Midlothian, Texas? You may have to look on a map. It's about 25 miles south of Dallas.
Me! Me! Me! Been here in Midlothian for almost 2 years now!! It's soo cool that I actually live close to someone on this site!!!
I probably have met you - I work at Blockbuster - though I try not to tell people that, I'm sometimes not very friendly when I'm at work! Just haging on till I hit the 10 year mark - 1 1/2 to go!!:p
