I agree Suzanne - I'm not a demo either so it doesn't matter to me whether or not the image is current or retired (I'm more particular that the stamps are SU-but I'm hooked on SU). I use good cardstock but it's not all SU. And since the majority voted to do full cards instead of just fronts, full cards will be costly for 30 cards. Just my 2 cents.
I'm a stamper, not a fighter so I'll go with majority
I want a mix of brands in the shoebox swap! Since these are going to be full cards I am totally planning on sending them out to people. So, being able to show them at a workshop is not an issue for me.
Hmm..I had not thought of people not using SU (for shame..lol..kidding!). I, personally, do not have an issue with other stamp companies. I don't do workshops too much, so I will be sending these cards out as well. As long as it is a great card, I don't mind it being TAC, CTMH, A Muse (I would LOVE that one!!) or anything else.
Ok, I have been thinking about lunch. Why don't we just order pizzas? I know that we will be eating a great (and heavy) dinner later, but we will be eating lunch around noon, so by the time 6pm rolls around (which is when I would think our food would hit the table) we should all be hungry again. If we ordered 6 pizzas (maybe 2 cheese, 2 with meat, and 2 supreme), don't you guys think we should be fine? I just really want to make this as stress free as possible for everyone involved.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just get one of those 30 passenger buses to take us all around the city to different stamping stores while we're here? LOL

Pizza is fine with me. Keva, do what works easiest for you!
If I haven't said so before, I'm not partial to SU! only products for this shoebox swap. I pretty much have only SU!, but whatever people bring is fine with me.

Dang I just found this thread......and I am moving at the end of July to Texas! Boohoo!! I would've loved to have been able to meet everyone!!! Keva, maybe I need to make a quick trip up to Nashville next week to meet ya! Like that is gonna happen with all the packing I have to get done!!! I'm sad that I'm gonna miss out!

Aw, Melanie! Yeah should get on up here..leave packing to the hubby!
Ok, we will just plan on ordering pizzas and have them delivered. If we want wings or salads then we can do that as well. I just think this would be a lot easier than having to keep up with and order 30 boxed lunches. A day before or so, I will call Pizza Hut and let them know what we need. I am thinking 2 cheese lovers, 2 supreme, and 2 with pepperoni and sausage..I am hopeful that that will please everyone. I will bring the paper plates and napkins, too. Perri-didn't you say that you would bring some ice in coolers? If that is the case, then I will also bring can drinks as they are easier than 2 liters (I am thinking Sprite, Diet Pepsi, and Pepsi??)

My DH did offer to go do a pickup for us - so if there's a better deal out there at Pizza Hut or Domino's or Papa John's (those are the three closest to the church that I know about), we can go that direction too.
I'll bring the ice in a cooler - yes. And I'm a "heavy" drinker so I'll probably bring a six pack of my own Diet Dr Pepper to get me through the day. I'm sure that others will want to bring their drink of choice.
And I agree on cans - less mess than 2 liters (no cups to worry about keeping up with - less chance of spillage on our creations too).
Guess I'd better get my creative juices flowing to come up with a card now.
At Domino's, you can get 3 medium one topping pizzas for $5.00 a piece, so 6 shouldn't be too expensive. At least, our domino's does this. Just a thought!
Hey ladies...I edited the first post. There is a link on there to tell us what we will all be using for the shoebox swap. This is so we can have a nice range of things, seasons, etc....so whenever you decide what stamp set, colors, etc you will be using pleae post to THAT thread.

Okay, I'm interested. I live in Seymour and would be willing to car pool too. Both my daughters live in Nashville and they love to stamp too. I may ask them if they are iterested if that's alright with everyone.
I only need to find out what a shoebox swap is. I've only been stamping 3 years and haven't done any of the conventions or swaps.
Okay Keva, I just found your post on what the shoebox swap was. It sounds like fun. Please add my name to the list. I think I'll be able to make it on the 12th. :-)
Ok, ladies...we are back to 30 people...that will be the final number on the shoebox swap! Make sure (when you decide) to post what set you are using to the other thread. I *hope* to do a Fall card, but haven't decided yet...i'm a bit of a procrastinator! ;)

Hi ya'll...I have a big favor to ask. My parents went to Hawaii for their anniversary. As a gift, I am making a scrapbook. As I doubt I will ever get to Hawaii, I would never use the Aloha/Hawaii set in the catalog. But I would really love to make some images using it to incorporate into my parents scrapbook.
Do any of you own this set? Would you be willing to bring it so that I can make some images using you set? Thanks SO much!
Jen

Jen,
I have Do the Hula and Island Blossoms - both would be great for a Hawaii Scrapbook. If you will email me a couple days before the event ([email protected]) I will bring them for you.
Thanks,
Glenneth

Hi All...I would like to clarify the swap *rules* for everyone because some questions have been asked. As far as whether or not we can use retired stamp sets or sets that are not SU......well, I personally don't care. This is supposed to be a fun time for SCSers to get together and get new ideas and meet people. It is not a Demo only event nor is it an SU event. I guess what I am saying is that we can all come, have fun, and make some great cards, but they don't HAVE to be current SU stamps. If you have an issue with this, please post so we can all get a perspective on it that maybe we don't have. I bought the cutest little stamps on EBay yesterday by Stampendous (I think) that would look so great on a card and even though it won't be the one I use for the shoebox swap, it could be. I don't want to make anyone feel bad or left out in this and that's why I think it is better to have really no restrictions on the shoebox swap....I know that a LOT of us love SU cardstock and would *prefer* it, but I won't refuse to stamp if that's not what you bring...overall, this is supposed to just be a nice fun event....I hope everyone feels the same. :(

I agreed with you Keva on the other forum before I read this one.
THANK YOU to Glenneth for the Hawaii sets!!!!!!
And Keva, I'd love to see your cute stampendous stamp.
If we all bring some extra stamps with our names on it and put it by our station than we can make your card plus stamp on our own cardstock with images of some stamps that we had not previously seen or owned. How fun!!!
Sorry guys I am going to miss out on all the fun and meeting more of my SCS sistas! I just couldn't see being away from home three weekends in a row. If it were a bit closer I could have swung it but the 7 hours of driving was just not working! Plus as I told Keva my husband planned some weekend things already - (go figure he has decided to become the total social butterfly) and didn't tell me until yesterday. He has a planned trip or overnight event for every month between now and November!! Will miss you all but certain you will have a wonderful time! Stacey
Soooo...is everyone getting excited about the get together? I can't believe it is next Saturday! I finally decided on my card, and I will be filling up ziplocs this weekend. If you need anything or have any questions, please let me know. I am going to buy paper plates and napkins this weekend. I don't know if we decided about drinks or not...is everyone bringing their own or shall I buy some canned sodas? Either way is fine for me, I just remember someone saying something about bringing a drink. I can get some six packs..can anyone else get some? I am thinking that an all day thing will require 2-3 drinks per person. Ok, well maybe that's just me because I am a heavy drinker...what do you guys think? I know we'll want one with food and one later, too right?

Yep! I finally finished putting the ziplocs together last night. It might be better to let everyone be responsible for their own drinks. Just because there are so many different brands & so many varied taste. If everyone brings their own then they can have what they like and it would make 1 less thing for you to worry about. JMO

Oh yeah, I am definitely excited to meet all of you! I know this is going to be a lot of fun. I agree about people bringing their own drinks; I too drink a lot. Someone mentioned they get free ice somewhere and would be bringing us some so that is great. Can't wait to meet each and every one of you.
Yikes!! I better get busy! I haven't cut anything or baggied anything! You guys are too good! I'm excited too! I'm disappointed that my new friend, Flicka, won't be able to attend. I just met her since I moved to Tenn. and she's a sweetie. I think we should just make things easier and bring our own drinks. One less thing for Miss Keva to worry about. Oh, I better get busy! See ya! ;)

Can't wait - can't wait.
My paper order comes in today and Natalie (r5monkys) and I are getting together to cut our pieces and stuff those baggies.
I agree - let's bring our own drinks. I'll be bringing a 12 pack of something diet (probably diet coke or diet dr pepper) and I can share if someone forgets and...
Yes, I will be bringing a big cooler of ice. So everyone can sink their cans down it it when we get there.
um, well *I* think ziplocs are best, but I am not going to mandate (can you guys tell I am NOT type-A? LOL) that everyone has them like that. If you would prefer for everyone to grab one of each of the layers, that's okay with me, I guess. ;)

I am totally highjacking this thread, well just a tiny bit since we have been talking about drinks so much. OMG, they just came out with strawberries and cream diet Pepsi and it is to die for!!!!! Have you all tried it or seen it? I will bring a 12 pack with me so that any of you who haven't tried it can have one of mine. YUMMY!
Yum! That sounds good! Count me in on sampling one!! Hey, I've finally started to baggie everything up. I've kicked it into "HIGH GEAR" now!! I think this is the most cardstock I've ever cut at one time...whew! I know it's going to be worth it. I think I'm going to bring some bags of chocolate candy for everybody to munch on! later taters!!! jan

This may have already been asked but I am going to ask anyway.
I am pretty familiar with Lebanon Pk. but I have a few questions about where on Lebanon Pk Donelson View Baptist Church is.
1. If I am coming from McGavok Pk is it on the left or right?
2. Is it before or after Old Hickory Blvd?
3. If it is before Old Hickory Blvd, is it closer to Stewarts Ferry or Old Hickory Blvd?
Thanks for the help I am just trying to get in my head where I am going.
If I think of any other questions I will post again.

OH NO! I am not going to be able to come!!!! I hate it! My sister and her son are moving in to live with us for a while and things are getting a bit CRAZY around here! My DH had said weeks ago that we could go and now he is backing out on it because of all of this. UGH....sometimes.....but I guess I really can't complain, seeing as how he is agreeing to take in my family and all.
Anyways, I know that my backing out at the last minute like this probably messes up your 30-count. So if any of you that have already prepared your materials want to, I wouldn't mind swapping individually with you so that you aren't out an extra set of supplies. If you want to, PM me and I'll get your address and give you mine.
I'm sure going to be sad next weekend thinking about all the fun I'll be missing and not getting to meet all of you awesome SCS gals. I hope I can make it next time.... *sniff* Have a great time and I look forward to seeing all the wonderful creations posted here on SCS when you get back home!

If you are coming from McGavock Pike, you are going to turn right onto Lebanon Rd. (going towards town). It will be on your left, but you will pass over Briley and keep going and it will come up on your left. If you get to Fessler's Lane or Spence, you have gone too far! It's not too far after Briley, though.

Keva,
Thank you for the directions. I did not even think of it being towards town. I think I know exactly where it is now. My husband used to work on Lebanon Road just past Spence Lane.

My card stock is cut and packaged into ziploc baggies. The supplies are packaged in a box. I am ready to go.
Wish we could start now and just skip work for the rest of the week. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I'm ready (well, not really) - I'm getting together tonight with Natalie and Requelle who are coming with me to cut pieces and fix our baggies.
Keva - I'm not sure if I can stay for dinner - and my friend Requelle has a previous commitment so she won't be going either. Didn't know if you needed a head count for Vittles or not.
