hmm thats an awesome idea.
what we can do is write up a "challenge"
like list the ingredients for the card, and the other have to make the cards, and bring it next time we meet or something
sorry... what?
is the challenge any swap with ingredients listed?( my vote)
is the challenge a swap limited to certain ingerdients?( also let's do this )
is it due fri at the meeting...?
or
are we deciding ingredients at that meeting and making it due for next meeeting...?
I think I'm sleep deprived...
help me out with some details, please

This sounds like fun! We have sooo many AB stampers and never get together. Unfortunately I will be at the UrbanScrapbook convention. I would love to come to Edmonton and meet other stampers, I have been trying just to get to Char's(she's sooo creative!) but Life Happens. Post if you all meet again.

lets do this... everyone prepare a challenge.... any swap with specific ingreidents for friday (not the materials, but just the write up)
due on friday.
and we will swap it out, and next time we meet, present it with what we came up with
Okay, sounds good. So we meet on friday at Timmy's at 7:30, and bring an idea for a challenge for a swap!
Do I have that right?!?! hahaha
This should be fun. If anyone is interested but cannot make it, make sure you post here and we can fill you in after Friday, if you would be interested in coming in the future!
I, too, am pressed for time this week, so making just the idea for a swap for Friday works best for me too.
See you all soon!

ok... so there was two people who emailed me, so i guess its a better idea to post it here...
Hello Ladies!
Welcome to the first SCS - edmonton branch get together.
Our meeting is purely to know each other, and see if we can form a little stamping group, that can meet bi monthly, monthly or weekly (to be determined)
during our little informal meeting, we will just introduce ourselves, and chat.
nothing intense, nothing "stalk-ish"
demos and non demos are welcome, however we are not there to solicit, so non demos, rest assured, we are not going to hard sell
a little homework before meeting:
the CHALLENGE swap:
each attendee must bring a swap challenge.
what is it?
write down a recipe for a card on a piece of paper (make about 5-6)
include the following:
technique
color combo
required embellishment
any restriction
and a twist to make it challenging.. (that I can't help you with )
and bring this recipe to the meeting.
you dont need to actually make the supplies, just the ingredients requirements.
Please make sure its versatile BUT challenging for everyone.
when you take the recipe home, you have till the next meeting to make the challenge cards. you do need a card for each person who challenges you (in order for a swap to happen.)
as well, be prepared to make cards from YOUR challenge.
i guess we can hammer out the details on friday.
so i guess you need to know when and where?
APRIL 21ST AT 7:30 PM
DOWNTOWN TIM HORTONS (the one across downtown future shop, close to Grant MacEwan)
you will see me there.. im the little chinese girl looking around like a lost puppy.
I'd like to come, but there's no way I can get there this evening. That, and it's downtown Edmonton, yikes. I'm from Leduc, so I don't do too much Edmonton driving. Could you please fill me in on how things go, and where the next neeting will be. Thanks.
Amy

I was very happy to meet the girls that showed up....coming from a stamp club where they are not *quite* as obsessed as me, it was nice to meet some other gals just like me!
If anyone else replied to this thread but couldn' make it, we will let you know when the next one is.

Y'all Rock!
thanks to J who stayed on to wait with me for my dh, and thanks for all the love and TOLERANCE everyone showed my little man!
I loved meeting y'all!
please, let's post the challenges and pick a monthly date so that we can get solidified...before the long, lonely summer hits.
My house is still game, don't forget.
my ds can roam free that way and he has movies, and toys!
little friends welcome, I can babyproof!
I'm a demo and I'm all set up for my weekly mommy classes.
My challenge was create a project container
(card or page acceptable, BUT "anything but a card" is preferred)
use something from your recycle box that you generate a lot of
(cambell soup cans, juice tubes, envelopes from all those endless bills and adverts!)
use craft ink and heat embossing powder and metal
(poptabs, bottle caps, juice lids or just brads and paperclips)
use wire or fibers
make it for a "hallmark" holiday occasion (not just "friend" or "for you")
SU! preferred but don't stress!
so far we are making 5 but if you weren't present at the tim's then you have to post with a joiner or we'll include you next month, I'm not sure....
Stampin' geer are you LEADER, or is it Smallpigpig?
I don't mean to step upon any tootsies...!

do any of y'all want a demo planner?
I have an extra one, NIP
but so far the person I ordered it for has not " moved " on it ....
no shipping
it's already in Edmonton sooooo...let's make a deal!
includes SU! page and card layouts, plus color combo suggestions
PLUS all the demo stuff, nice format.
I don't want to mail it all over , it's already cost me enough!

Ladies, what's going on with these challenges? Are we doing one or what?! Are we having another meeting? I know Peggy & Carrie are pretty busy next month...

Would you be willing to send it to Edson? I'm thinking about becoming a demo here and would love more info ... my demo here is great but hasn't got much info about becoming one. Let me know!

As for the challenges...I thought we were doing all of them, 5 each?? Or should we do one of them by the next time we meet? I thought we decided this, but there seems to be confusion, myself included now!!
We could talk here and decide where and when to meet again (and which challenge(s) to do!!)... The next month might be busy, but maybe we can arrange for a few hours on a weeknight or something?
Jacine
