Hi....welcome to the area,
Hilton Head is not that far. Should take around 2.5 hours.
Pick up I16 going west and it will take you right into Macon.
Come on over and join us.
Ok, it looks like we are having it on the 8th. I will make the arrangements with the LSS to definitely have it on that date. Now, do we want to get a big plate from Subway or Chick-fil-a, or does everyone want to be responsible for themselves?
hey there! sorry to jump in again! but my dh and I changed our moving plans, we decided it was in EVERYONE'S best interet to move over spring break! We will be there and unpacking on the 1-3 or so depending on when the movers get there! already found a house in Warner Robins and was approved! whoo hoo! I doubt I can participate but since your having it on the 8th, do you all mind if I stop by and say hello?

Of course not!! Would love to meet you!!! I live in Centerville so maybe we can get together once you get settled in and stamp our little hearts out!!

I don't mind fending for myself. There are many good fast foods in the area!! Krystal, chick-fil-a, burger king, subway, sonic and a few more. Not to mention the mall food court.
Fending for ourselves works for me. I can also bring a treat to munch on. Now that we've decided on a date, 4/8, what are we gonna do? I can do a demo/project/make and take on Magic cards like the two in my gallery if anyone is interested. It takes about an hour, start to finish. Or I can just do something simpler. Snowy Trees anyone? Or just a shoebox. Whatever.
I personally would love to learn anything new - which would be just about any technique except cracked glass ( I finally learned that one).
I don't mind a shoebox swap (I am assuming that is where we bring all the stuff to make the card and enough supplies for everyone to make it?). I am so excited!!

I know we all pretty much said we would like to do Shoebox Swap. Now, do we want only SU! or NVR (no vendor restrictions) as well? Or we could make these 2 seperate groups? As for the demo, Kathy that would be awesome if you wanted to demo the magic card.
Now, most importantly, I need everyone that is definitely interested in coming now that we have the date nailed down to PM me by no later than 3/10. This way we can start getting a final count.

I would prefer SU! only (stuff not offered in the catty is okay by me, though) since I can't afford to accumulate a lot of stuff I can't use for workshops and such, but I realize that not everyone can do that. Two groups sounds like a good alternative!
Now, all joking with Kathy aside, I do need to split a hotel room with someone!

Rachel has a good point. My stuff would be SU, but not active. Tickled Pink has been retired and I think Christmas Cardinal was only in Winter Mini. Ya'll can bring whatever stamp you want to make a magic card out of, if it's that important to you.
Rachel, why are you spending the night? Savannah is not that far from Macon! Unless it got moved! LOL

About 2.5 hours according to Mapquest, which means it's probably closer to three. If we're making a day of this I'm not sure I want to drive there and back in the same day. I guess I could if I had to (that time's nothing compared to driving home to Virginia), but I'd probably be pretty tired the next day!

I agree. I only use Stampin Up papers, ink and stamps. I don't mind NVR ribbon, brads, eyelets etc... I use all kinds of extras but I always stick with SU for the main items.
Sara, the 8th is the end of our Spring Break, so I'm hoping my sister will be here and be able to attend with me. Is there still room for one more? Also, where is the location?
Thanks!

I would like to join your group as well. I live in Warner Robins, GA and will be coming w/Dee (stampincuzILuv2). Thanks...if there is anything I need to know, please inform me.
Thanks,
Pinky

ok, I would like start getting a list together on who wants to do what swaps. Please PM me with SU or NVR (no vendor restrictions) or both by March 20th. This should give people time to get everything together. If anyone sees a problem let me know.
My magic card demo will also be a shoebox swap because not only will I show everyone how to do it, everyone will be able to do one right along with me (I need to know how many kits to make). Can't do that AND a shoebox swap. That was too much for me last time. When you say you want to know what kind of swaps we want to do, I have no idea how those work. Do we have to decide what kind of cards and how many or just do our own thing? Like, make and bring 10 of one kind of card and take 10 different cards? :confused:
Ok, I am now limiting this to only SU swaps (meaning stamps and paper (except white) not embellishments). So, what that means for everyone is that whoever signs up for the shoebox swap will be the only ones that get to make the cards. Does this make sense? The only reason I am limiting it to SU is we are just not getting enough interest in the other.
Sorry I've been away guys, the flu made the rounds through our house over the past few weeks. Count me in for April 8th. I'll bring a shoebox.
If I understand correctly, we are to:
1. meet in Macon @ Scrap, Paper, Sisters on Bloomfield Rd. on Saturday, April 8th. Participation times: ?? 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. ???
2. sign up by March 20th & let sara know if you expect to be there. No sign up, then no participation in card making. We need firm numbers for everyone to know how much to bring;
3. bring all SU! materials (except white CS & embellishments) and it doesn't matter if the stamp set is current or retired. If a retired set is used, it might be nice if you could suggest a currently available set that could also be used;
4. have materials available for a ready to assemble item (with several samples & instructions or demo to explain).
5. you can choose to demo a card and/or participate in the shoe box swap, you're choice just let sara know what you plan on doing when you sign up;
6. chip in $5/person to offset room rental, etc.
Does this sound a correct summary of what we want to do?
Also, many thanks to Sara for getting the ball rolling and keeping it going to get us this far!
Can't wait to meet all of you April 8th!
Tracy

Sounds good to me, Tracy, but you forgot a couple things. Lunch is on your own (I think Sara said there's a Subway near) and if you want, bring a treat/munchie to share. As a new idea, we each should bring our own liquid refreshment of choice. Stampin' tends to dry me out. Maybe the shop has a pop machine, I dunno. CYA soon!

Thanks for remembering our food & drink needs. How could I forget?!?
There are quite a few places w/in 10-15 mins. of Scrap, Paper, Scissors (SPS):
Chick Fil A
Olive Garden (next door)
Subway (next door other side)
Burger King
O'Charley's
Zaxby's
2-3 Bar-b-que places
Cracker Barrell
Applebee's, etc.
SPS does not have a drink machine, but does have a few soft drinks for sale from their small fridge. I will be glad to bring a cooler of ice & cups if any one wants to bring drinks by the liter. I will probably bring some water bottles.

That's sounds right to me. So far only had 6 people sign up for the swap. I really hope that's not going to be all.
I would love to meet and do the SWAP with you guys on the 8th but I have a puppet show that day. Please e-mail me the next time you guys have a get together. Maybe I can do an idea and mail the kits to you before the 8th. Would that be an option? If I mail the kit can everyone mail me a kit back so that I can have the ideas also? If this is o.k. please send me an address to mail the kits to and how many kits are needed.
I've been putting off making any firm reservations to stay in Macon until I knew when my brother would be in Florida. Now, I know, and of course, it's the weekend of April 8th. Haven't seen him in a long time, so have to stick around home that weekend. Rats! Ya'll have a real fun time. I hope more come than have comitted, but I just can't make it. Sorry, Sarah, Rachel, Pinky, etc. :(
P.S. If anyone wants, they can PM me and I will mail them the instructions and what is needed to make the magic card.
P.P.S. Beate's Wednesday tutorial on the magic card is essentially the same as my instructions.
