Sacramento Area Swap Socials (SASS) Saturday December 11, 2010
If you live in or near the Sacramento Area we will be hosting a local Shoebox Swap on Saturday Dec. 11th beginning at 10:30am till about 4pm. If you join the swap please take the time to read through the entire post. By joining you are agreeing to all of the terms outlined within.
SASS Shoebox Swap & Potluck Hostess: Jenny Fenske Type of Swap: Holiday card or 3D-project assembly Date: 12/11/2010 Time: 10:30am to about 4pm Where: Elk Grove (Gerber & Vineyard) Cost: $7 mailed or via paypal. This fee is not refundable unless the swap is cancelled. Available spots: 14 (minimum 6)
If 8 or less people sign-up we may do 2 projects each.
Swap Theme & Requirements: The theme is Christmas. The finished cards should have at least 3 layers (not counting the base) and at least 1 or 2 embellishments Since it is the Holiday season we are offering the option of doing a seasonal 3D project instead of a card such as an ornament, notebook, decorated giftbox… Make something you would be happy to receive. Please use quality supplies. No vendor requirements.
Agenda: We will begin at 11am and continue until all the projects are complete. There will be a lunch break around 12:30pm. There will be a raffle drawing at the end of the day. The goal is to be finished by 4pm. The number of kits each person will bring will be determined by December 1st and is based on the number of people that have signed-up and paid.
Lunch: We will have a potluck so everyone will need to bring a dish. Potluck sign-ups are in the following post.
Raffle: As in the past we will put together a gift pack to raffle. Each person donates an item(s) with a retail value totaling $10. At the end of the day we will draw a name for the winner of the gift basket. The item(s) the winner donated along with a few other things will be raffled off as a second raffle prize. Participation is optional but you cannot win unless you contribute. Items donated need to be new. Let’s make it an awesome gift basket by purchasing items you would want for yourself!
What is a Shoebox Swap? Each person brings 2 completed samples they designed for people to view during the assembly process along with a “kit” for each participant in the swap so they can make that exact same project. The kits should include everything needed to complete the project (card or 3d item), pre-stamped, pre-cut, punched, colored… and ready to assemble. All the materials in the kit are placed into a baggie and then all the baggies are placed into a shoebox or basket along with anything else needed to complete the project (ie ribbon, brads…). Each participant brings their “shoebox” to the swap with a kit for each participant and explains to the group how to make their project. You can make extra kits to swap with each other at the end of the day.
What to bring: Everyone will bring their own basic tool kit of supplies but any other tools specific to the project should be supplied by the card/project designer. Your basic tool kit should contain scissors, bone folder, tape runner and sticky strip adhesive, mini glue dots/pop dots, tombow glue, cutting knife, piecing tool, mat & ruler. If bringing another tool (punches, crop-a-dile, crystal effects…) will speed your project assembly along, you may request we add it to the tool kit list so others can bring their own.
About SASS: This group was established a few years ago and we host swaps 2-6 times a year depending on the number of people who volunteer to host. For more information about SASS (Sacramento Area Shoebox-swap Socials) and to be added to the contact list please read the 2nd post in the following thread: Sacramento Area Swap Socials (SASS) Saturday October 16, 2010 by Deb_t at Splitcoaststampers

Hi Josie,
Please look over the list in the second post and let me know what you will be bringing for the potluck. We had many duplicates once so if you could be specific that would be great. Thanks!
Since everyone in the swap is not subscribed to this forum I sent out an email with the final swap count and details. So please check your email and get back to me.
