Hi everyone.. I haven't checked this thread in a bit. Wow you are all great. I will be there just in time for Halloween. I would love to get together after I move to say hi and get accquainted. I'm moving to a city where (other than my fiance and his kids) I don't know a soul.
We pack up the truck in Edmonton on Tuesday October 24th. We aren't sure yet if were going to leave that day or wait until Wednesday. I have convinced my sweetie that we are breaking the driving up over two days. What is about men that they INSIST on driving straight through - until you tell them you refuse to sit in a U-haul for 15 or 16 hours? LOL.

But hunny, what's the problem? Not like YOU'RE gonna be the one driving!! ROFL Stick to your guns gurl, this city aint going nowhere *teehee*\
You'll have to let us know when you're all settled and then we can look at a 2nd gathering. Perhaps closer to the holidays or right after.
Good luck with the move!
Oh wait!! I have a better idea!! You fly out here and flop at whoever's house you can for a month, make it to the meet and be here ready, waiting, and well rested for him to arrive! That's a good plan! *snort*

Oh now THAT'S an idea. I kept trying to tell him my last trip out I should just stay and we could go back for my stuff.
I can't wait to meet all of you.
I'm actually really lucky. He's a great guy - and he has seen all my stampin/scrappin supplies and didn't go running for the hills!! Now here's where I get all the other sweeties/husbands in trouble. He knew there was a book I wanted at Mike's that has been sold out for eons in Edmonton. He took the boys .. and went through every rack and every book AND FOUND IT for me.
I wonder how long that will last once I've taken over his office and turned it into my craft room???
By the way . . . Margaret . . . what area of the city are you going to be moving into? One of us just might be a neighbor eh? Now wouldn't that be cool! You could have a nearby stampin' buddette!

It would be great if one of you was a neighbour!!!
I'm moving to North Winnipeg (just off Main Street - and a couple of blocks down from Kropo (sp??) funeral home).
I'm not counting but its 16 sleeps until his flight gets here on Sunday the 21st. We don't actually load up the truck and start the drive until the Tuesday but I just want him here so we can start to bring me home.

Reason: typos!!!

I know where Kropo is. From there, it's a bit of a toss-up whether you would go to the Polo Park Mikes or the St. Vital Mikes. Polo is more west, and a bit south, and St. Vital is more south and east. I work at the St. Vital Mikes, so I'd love to see you there. ;)
I've went to one of those Michael's my last trip there, I just don't know where it was LOL. The next day I was sick so my sweetie made the trip to the other Mikes (with step-sons in tow) to find my book.
I'll definitely be by!! I just have to draw maps out first. I have the world's worst sense of direction and who knows where I'd end up otherwise.
My guess is that he Polo Park store would be closest. I always get mixed up when I go to the Polo store because it's set up backwards. What's up with that? Don't they know there are blondes in this world? !! LOL

Brown Eyed Girl, I swear by Mapquest to get me around this city! It's nice to be able to zoom in and out to figure out the big picture, and then print a little map to get you right there!

Hi, Browneyed!
My friend, 3trikes, will be in your neck of the woods. =)
OK ladies . . . we're on!! I'm making this big to make sure it gets read.
I talked to the folks at Boston a couple of days ago and they would prefer that we arrive for 12:30 instead of 1:00pm. I'm assuming thats so they can get everyone's orders in before the afternoon lunch rush.
So . . . if possible . . . if you can be there for 12:30 instead that'd be great!!

Mapquest is okay if you're next to a computer, but I love my Sherlock's map WAY more, especially to carry with me in the car!

Winnipeg Face to Face...
Okay! So...Boston's @12:30 Saturday the 20th,(with possibly a side trip to Mike's across the parking lot) and 5 swap cards each in 6 more sleeps! Whew! I'm so there. My DH decided that since I was going to drive in to the 'Peg ('cause we live about 1 1/2 hours away) he was going to drive in with me and go shoot some pool with his brothers and have a fun day too. Probably not as much fun as we're going to have though!!!

Hm-m-m. I'm not sure just exactly what bumping is, or how it is done. Another question about the swap. Do we sign the cards? You know--when we put our "Lovingly Stamped by..." on the back panel?

Nope, leave the inside blank or unsigned. Go ahead and stamp the back for credits. I'm almost panicking here, I've only got 3 cards done so far *eeeeek* lol

You can get the current Sherlock's Map from many stores in Winnipeg. I've seen them at some gas stations, at Safeway, at Canadian Tire...
I've only got 2 cards left to assemble -- everything is already stamped, embossed, measured, and cut -- and all except one still need my "cardmaker's signature" on the back.
Wenchie, you said

Was that the cardmaker's 'signature' on the back? That's what I was assuming, anyway -- to leave the inside blank, but to put your personal credits on the back.
I had two sentiment stamps that went together, and at one time, I thought about putting the short sentiment on the front and putting the verse sentiment on the inside, but I decided to put the verse on the front of the card and the short sentiment on the envelope flap. It just seemed to work better with the layout.
Of course, it DID take all weekend long just to decide on and then refine my layout and papers.
I guess I'd better get busy and get the rest finished.
Oh, and Michelle? Gail was just posting something to make our Meet & Greet thread jump to the top of board that shows the topics so that more people would see it and perhaps make their own post. People call it 'bumping', and sometimes just post the word 'bump' to get more notice for that thread. Clear as mud? ;)
Melanie, thanks for sharing your cards at the store today! Good to meet you! I love that Sherlock map, too. It's in my van at all times. It's getting a little old, though, and doesn't have all of the newer streets. Time for an update!
Only a few days until our swap - I better get stampin'!
Cindy
p.s. I was at the scrap convention this past weekend and told a couple of other SCS'ers about our meeting time. Hopefully they'll come too!
