Hi Laura - we're off the LIE by Exit 60...is that too far for you? (There are inexpensive 12 hour crops out here sometimes, maybe that would be worth it if it's a logn drive?)
I am in the Bronx, also. I would come to LI for a crop!
And we would love to have you!
Do you know about the Cropper's Delight group on Meetup.com. Meryle & Susie are base dout of Brooklyn but do day crops in the city, plus weekend crops in NJ, CT, & PA. They might be listed in a different state because of reaching more local people as their crop locations change during the year, but that's the name you can find them under. Tell them Denise sent you!

I'm a little bit further (moved here this summer). I'd love to get info on future crops. I know of a store in Centereach - almost spent enough for a discount - and heard of one in Babylon (or one of the Babylons LOL).

Those are the stores! Do you know of any that carry a larger selection of stamps (I mostly make cards)? I love pretty papers and fun embellishments but also like stores to have a large-ish selection of stamps and inks (and reinkers too.)
Please feel free to send me a PM about your next meeting or meetings. My craft room may never be settled (partly because I always buy more stuff) so there's no reason to wait for that to happen. Everything else is mostly settled.

No one really has a lot of stamps, SP has more than NJS, which doesn't say much. It's the main reason I started using CTMH, and another friend sells SU!. I like immediate gratification but unless it's via Michaels, AC Moore, or Joann's, it isn;t happening with stamps.
If you're willing to go into the city & down to the Village, the Ink Pad is AMAZING for stamps. Literally, it has to be the Mecca of stamping. I keep saying the girls should do a field trip there one weekend.
The Michael's in Riverhead is the best for scrap & paper supplies, it's one of the new model stores. Teh others have the usual stamps. AC Moore has the same no matter the location, and it seems liek they are going with more clear and phasing out wood. JMO base don the movement in the store and the smaller stock of wood mounted. Jo-Ann's in Holbrook has a decent stamp section, while Jo-Ann's in Centereach has squat.

Where did you move to? There are lots of groups in the area, several a little further east than me. Many on the north shore, too.
Thanks for this info. ITA about the Centereach jo-ann's (except that I recently found some portable storage for a CK Scrap & Play event my BFF and I are attending next weekend. It will also work to organized my craft room!) I haven't been to the one in Holbrook.
I'll have to visit the Riverhead Michael's (a niece lives east of us and she does some scrapbooking so if she has a weekend day free we can "do lunch" too.) Please see my next post for a favor to help the same niece.
Although I don't really like being in the city, a trip to The Ink Pad is on my list of places "to see before dying" so if a trip gets organized please keep me in mind.
For some reason I've never figured out, I cannot get meetup to work on my computer (a friend/demo had to send me emails about her events so I wouldn't miss any fun!)
This is a slight hijack to help my niece. She is looking for an alto for an a capella group. Rehearsals are baby-friendly. I think they take place twice a week; one weekday evening (TUE?) in Coramand late Saturday mornings further east (at my niece's home).
If you (or someone you know) is interested, please send your contact info to me via Splitcoast (Pm or email) and I will forward to my niece.
For some baffling reason I cannot sign up for meetup (I tried in the past and never get the confirming email ... even after making another request and waiting 1+ hours).
If you can send it by email please lmk and I'll share my email address via a PM.
