Has anyone gone to the Ink Pad in NYC? I'll be in the city Saturday so may stop in if worth it!
it's worth a stop. call and check their hours.
the stamps are worth going over. but their embellishments are higher than other places.
aslo worth looking through items you can't get other places.
when I was gone I spent $240,and it all fit into a very small "gift" bag. SAD!
Linda...I belonged to the Flower Factory when we lived in the Dayton, OH, area. I loved that place...wish they had one around here...it's amazing!! Do you still need to be a member, or be accompanied by a member, to get in there?
Okay - newbie here... I'm planning to join a couple of the swaps and - obviously - do the shoebox project, but I'm a little concerned. Is the demo-quality swap the only project that has to be SU! only? I've got a collection of some-of-everything-from-everywhere and I'm wondering how much of the "other" I can include Also, do I bring the stamps and ink and let folks stamp their own for the shoebox? Or do I pre-stamp? Or just pre-cut pieces? Any/all guidance would be welcome! Also, how much "gear" do I need? I know to bring basics (adhesive, scissors, etc.), but what else? Anything else I need to know? Yes - I did read the info, but I'm still looking for input from you more seasoned folk so I can feel more comfortable with this (can you tell I'm a little nervous?)

Welcome Sue
Yes, the demo-quality swap is the only one requires SU products only. All the other swaps and the shoebox can be any and all vendors. Most of us DO NOT use only SU products.
For the shoebox, you pre-cut the paper and bring the inks and stamps for us to stamp our own.
As for gear, it varies. I personally like to travel light and can fit all my stamping necessities in a small (8" x 4" maybe) tote. Where as others like to have more with them and use the large (18" x 12" maybe) tote. It's all a matter of taste. I don't believe I have ever not had what I needed with me, or if I have, I'm sure someone let me borrow whatever I needed. We are nice that way ;).
Guess it's changed since we moved away in 2005. Back then, you couldn't get into the building without showing your membership ID card, and you had to have a business or be a teacher to get a card. If you weren't a member or associate member, you needed to be accompanied by a member as a guest to get in. If you were a guest, anything your purchased had to be paid for by the member. Which FF did you go to? I think they have 3 or 4 throughout Ohio. The one in Centerville (just outside Dayton) was only about 3 miles from my house...I loved it!!
Hi, Sue...No need to worry about being a "newbie"...it's not that long ago that I felt the same way. But, everyone was so friendly and helpful that I immediately felt comfortable and enjoyed an awesome day of stamping, swapping, meeting fellow stampers, etc. Looking forward to meeting you!................Alice
Sue, glad you are coming and that I'll finally meet you in person (if you are still cleaning out I'll take more cards for the troops)! Besides my ATG and refills, liquid adhesive/glue pens, dimensionals, glue dots, and three different scissors (paper, ribbon, Tonic), I like to bring my portable paper trimmer, Scor-Buddy, pen or pencil, baby wipes, push pin and little foam pad for poking holes, glue eraser, and black micro tip marker to fill in lines if I don't stamp an image fully. I bring too much gear so if you need anything one of us will probably have it! Somehow Heidi manages only brings a mug that holds all of her necessary gear!

We went to the one in Canton/North Canton. Left a lot of $$ behind but not all stamping related and not a flower to be seen.
Okay girls I need help. I tried looking on SCS but it would take me forever and what I have looked my question really isn't being answered. On one of the swaps I am going to do, I want to use fun flock on the image. My question is, does the glue pads work well enough for me to use the fun flock on? I know I can do heat and stick but I am going to be making quite a bit of these so I am thinking about time and I am not sure if I would have enough. I have never used this pad before. Just seen it in the stores. I just don't want to get it and find out it is terrible. Any help would be appreciated.

Yup, what Judy said.
Do you feel better now that we had a chance to talk in person, too, Sue?

No clue on the glue pad, Cheryl. I think I have used the Mono Multi in the past with fun flock. But it's been a loooooooooooong time.
I want to encourage everyone to get their registrations/payments/wish lists in. We are nearing capacity and your payment will ensure your spot.
If anyone has suggestions on how to accommodate more stampers, drop me a note so I can consider it. I was hoping to offer attendance to the Rochester group, but may have to close it sooner than planned.
Linda...I put my registration and payment in the mail today. Regarding the Flower Factory, the one in Centerville/Dayton used to have a large department of silk flowers. Since I haven't been there since 2005, I can't say what it's like now. I, too, left a lot of $$ there...it's a very neat place.
Thanks, Judy and Gayla! I went over to Linda's earlier today to give her my registration and we chatted for a bit, and I feel much less nervous now I'm sure it will be lots of fun and no need to worry...
